There is some evidence that breakfast helps, though other evidence conflicgs that. I suspect there is personal variation on this. I think morning sunlight is far more important for your circadian rhythm.
For me personally, I cannot eat breakfast, I have no appetite in the morning.

Pretty sure for most of human history people just ate a small snack for lunch and a large main meal in the afternoon. I know that's what the Greeks and Roman's did.
This makes sense logically for tribes:
In the morning/lunch eat leftovers, berries and nuts that have been gathered
Go out hunting during the day
Have meat at night
That's how I structure my diet and it works well, warrior diet style

I personally work better with breakfast, it's especially important if i'm not certain i can get lunch in time because i crash really hard around midday/early afternoon if i haven't eaten.
Also i find if i exercise in the early morning, having food an hour before is good to stop post workout fatigue and overeating/ snack eating afterwards.
If you're having cofvve youre starting your metabolic process anyway and might as well eat at that point.

I do time restrictive eating, about a 10 hour eating window.
It's not for weight loss (I'm pretty trim and trying to bulk up) but more for the health benefits. Rhonda Patrick has a few really good podcasts about it and we should at least be fasting for 12 hours overnight. It's why cancer is so high in shift workers.

i think this advice mostly works because most people with a 9-hour workday will have unhealthy eating habits throughout the day (e.g. drinking sugary sodas, salty snacks, fast food lunch) which can be mitigated easily if you use your morning to have a healthy breakfast.

Breakfast is fucking awesome. I always eat a high protein, high complex carb breakfast. Keeps my tummy happy, and fills me up after waking up starving.
Main point of eating after waking up is getting your glucose to stable levels, so you don't shit yourself in first hours of the day. It's up to you tho if you need that or not,depending on how you feel in the morning.

Couldn't tell ya to be honest. In my case it's helpful because I'm usually the opposite of hungry in the morning, I get up at 5am and usually don't get hungry till I'm leaving the gym ~7. So for me it helps to boost my appetite to the point where a shake and a big meal is pretty easy to eat.
