I just learned how to do them.
what should I expect 2 months from now if I do them every day? will it help with my gut that sticks out a little bit?

been doing them recently, they seem universally praised, definitely worth doing my friend
Is this something people train with? I always did it as a kid thought nothing of it i thought it was just something that everyone knew how to do?
I think the point is doing it really hard to the point where it hurts.
Based and vacuumpilled
so guys... what's the purpose of this exercise?
This is ancient Yoga, faggots.
I don't think its ever hurt, I've done it as hard as I could and the only thing thats bothersome is lack of air from doing it for alap
The sources for vaccuum exercise on wiki are cosmopolitan and some other guru page. Imagine deluding yourself into doing some placebo garbage.
>deluding yourself into doing some placebo garbage.
You just described this whole board
Doesn't*
I don't do it as an exercise, it's just a way to convince myself I'm not fat
Arnold did them, as did other, stupid fucking cunt, think; if wearing a corset shrinks your gut, won't vacuums do the same over time? It's healthier too. Shibailama
Yes it works, even the anorexic girls do it

I wasn't able to find a study on vacuums, so I'm not gonna do them. Anecdotal evidence is worthless to me.
Your loss.
Imagine being so close minded while also being stuck at 135 squat
When you do them properly, in the end you get more control over your abs, and you can keep your stomach in and without even thinking about it. And it also helps with hemorroids, since when you're doing it you're also pulling your sphincter in.
I'm not close minded, the opposite actually, but I have no intention spending time on something that hasn't been shown to work. Also I'll let u know, i have a 160kg ATG squat.
post body.
Just do 5 sets of 20-seconds. Its that quick and easy.
keep believing that, it makes me better off.
People are dissing vacuums here? I don't even lift and I know this is legit. Go on google images and put in "bodybuilder vacuum." You will see men you recognize that have clearly put a good amount of time into doing these.
So THAT'S WHY it makes it easier to slide my unflared Chance past a certain point ! Thanks !
Flared* In that situation, that detail matters
Gotta keep shocking the body.
That's just my thing: trying out new shit to find out for myself, and, you know, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
In summary, vacuums reduced their wast circumference without any change in body mass or fat.
So how does one go about doing them "properly"?
This. I've tried them before but I'm not doing them right. Every how to I've seen on is "First you breathe all your air out. Then you just do it." and it drives me crazy that I have no idea what they are doing to actually do them. Even OP's video is the same way.
I actually am able to do vacuums, i'm just not sure what means by "properly" because the only thing i gained from this is that i can do it on command and didn't get any of the magical benefits the people in this thread are talking about
just tried it, feels pretty good
Then try "breathing" by pushing out more air than you take in whilst having one hand on your abs and the other behind your back, and breathe, you'll notice your transversus abdominus activate.
Once you get used to this exercise, you'll be able to do the vaccum naturally, and on top of that you'll be able to hold your stomach in without any effort all day.
Try this:
>Practice stomach vacuum every day for a month
>Abs have pretty much disappeared
What am I doing wrong?
The vaccum should allow you to hold your gut and keep it in there almost indefinitely (I actually have to consciously telling myself to let go of my gut). It's what we always tried to do when we had some fat in our belly and tried to hide it by holding our breath, but due to the vaccum, your abs are the mucles holding it in, so you can breathe and go on with your life naturally whilst having a much slimmer profile, and your abs will look less bloated too.
what are the benefits of doing vacuums though?
When I do them as hard as possible my lower back starts to feel sore. Am I doing it wrong or will that go away on its own?
if it doesnt burn or hurt you arent doing it hard enough or long enough
No clean up after you nut
Strengthens the transverse abs, firms up your core.
Every time I try them I just end up with a sore red spot on my stomach.
How long am I supposed to leave the vacuum on for?
lol wtf is this real
jeff did a video about them, fuck off faggot
