Weak core lowering big lifts

anyone else have a weak core?

I feel like on every big lift, bench, shoulder press, squat, and deadlift, my core is the first thing to give out or make my form fuck up. even when i take off a decent amount of weight (between 30-50 lbs) I'm still having core issues.
I've never truly made it a point to train core but I'd like to start trying to build some core strength. The only things I can find are shitty ab routines and was wondering if there were any routines or exercises specifically for strengthening the core for barbell work?

I have the same problem. Never trained core or abs.

Are planks enough to build a decent core?

Talk to any powerlifting coach and they'll tell you the majority of people have weak cores that are detracting from their compounds. Also work on your form too

bruh. Youve never even used the hanging leg raise thingy? its always got someone on it at my gym. Side oblique raises with 45lb plate is popular too. Then the Decline situp with a kettle bell. Then back extensions to isolate back core. Also ab wheel is like $15 at walmart.. do 5 burn out sets 2-3 times per day.. I hit my core for 10 minutes literally everytime im in the gym

I can't say for sure this would make up for it all, but try some dumbbell exercises and only do one side at a time to engage your core. Also, try kettlebell for cardio after a workout sometime.

Big dude told me planks are THE answer to a weak core, im inclined to believe him.

That being said isometrics SUCK and i am trying other shit first

No.

Lmao, dude's wrong.

planks can be good to build up enough strength to move onto more advanced progressions. I'm picking if OP had the core strength for say, a front lever he wouldn't have this issue

Do calisthenics

I might start doing this. Did you notice any improvement when you started or have you always done this?

Why does no one do pic related? One of the best core exercises ever.

Do you hold that position or lift legs?

goblet squats with a dumbbell are good for your core

what exercise is this?

Lift for reps

Dragon Flags

Learn to read the title.

Because it's extremely advanced, comparatively speaking. Hanging leg raises, Russian twists, toe touches, Roman chair, etc are all much more accessible.

I agree that dragon flags are fucking sick though. Pic related is a fun variation too.

I used to have a ripped copy of Combat Core, by the Diesel Crew. I just looked and it's not on TPB, I must have found it on the old Demonoid. Fucking external HDD failed on me, so I've lost it, myself, too.

Anyway, it had more goddamn core exercises than anything else I'd ever seen. Got me doing ridiculous shit like windshield wipers and dragon flags and shit. Anyway, love Smitty Diesel. His shoulder rehab protocol is the only thing that keeps my shoulders from exploding and shooting shrapnel all over the goddamn place. I recommend both Combat Core and his shoulder rehab protocol.

I got you user
