Is drinking a diet soda gonna completely kill my cut or is it ok to do it once a month
>1 calorie
>0 sugar
I assume there’s some sort of catch here, apart from the fact it tastes like shit

I'd say it's probably fine to have it every now and again. I wouldn't have it more than once a week.
My parents drink it with every meal. I've never seen them drink a glass of water while at home and I'm 26.
This was my life until 19. Only soda and juice. Only drank water at sports. No wonder I stayed manlet.
Just because it technically doesn't contain typical sugars and calories doesn't mean it doesn't contain other sweeteners. It's been proven to be correlated with the development of type 2 diabetes and other symptoms associated with incident metabolic syndrome
The presence of sweeteners triggers a release of insulin into the bloodstream. This confuses the body's metabolic processes and results in the aforementioned incident metabolic syndrome as well as possible overall weight gain due to the imbalances in insulin production. I cannot find research to support the weight gain argument but it is presumed logic supported by a common understanding of metabolism

Really Diet soda is not terrible and will not kill your gains so to say, especially on a once a month basis, but exercising caution is the best thing you can do
The catch is that it fucks with your gut fauna
drink that stuff in moderation, aspartame will rot your brain.
My understanding is that Diet Coke fucks up your gut bacteria, idk if that is based on anything real or not
>The presence of sweeteners triggers a release of insulin into the bloodstream.
Neither aspartame nor most non-caloric sweeteners cause an insulin response. The only negativd health effect of diet soda is acid damage to tooth enamel.
I’ve been cutting hard and I drink about 5 a day. I don’t even give a fuck, it’s my only crutch. Still dropping weight
How bad is sucralose and ascesulfam k?
That shit is in all my whey.
disgusting
That is 100% true and has been proven. My bad for not actually fully researching here.
However, the sodas themselves may also impact insulin levels, as this is something consistently found across trial studies. My thoughts are that drinking diet sodas may invoke a 'placebo' like effect in which the body reacts somewhat similarly to a recognised source of excess glucose
It literally doesn't matter at all
The catch is that your teeth still fall out
I drank diet soda constantly when I was trying to lose weight. Like 6 a day sometimes. Was able to drop 110lbs no problem.
They might not be healthy for you, but it's a meme that they will make you gain weight
Diet soda does not cause insulin spikes. All studies suggesting a link between diabetes and diet soda are nutritional surveys. Guess who mostly drinks diet soda? Fat people and old people. Nutritionsl scientists in general are fucking retards. You know why we thought fat was so bad for decades? Nutritional scientists fed mice high fat chow and they gained more weight than the control. But those fucking dipshits didn't account for the fact that the high fat chow has a higher caloric density.
Everybody always rags on aspartame because of some dubious cancer study a very long time ago. And from cancer it went to all these other effects. Which may or may not be valid points.
Nowy point is: the anti aspartame camp says you should try stevia/sucralose/acesulfame k/etc.. Instead! It's not as bad as aspartame, but in reality these other sweeteners have had the same amount or less research done on them as aspartame. And there's really no concrete evidence that the alternatives are any safer.
All in all, excessive sugar is bad, but we as humans evolved to intake sugar from the seasonal fruits and such which were available. However, Through plant breeding we've created varieties of fruits which are WAAAAY more sugary and flavorful than what existed way back then.
TL;DR: What's my point? Just eat in moderation. Scientific studies usually give rats INSANE amounts of these compounds to max out their capabilities.
There's no study which links aspartame to cancer or anh other disease. Alternative sweeteners were developed because they taste better
OP Here,
Shit. Can you recall anything about that study as to what aspect induces that effect? Is it the sweet taste or is it simply the carbonated aspect
It's bullshit. There is no link between diet soda and insulin.
Sounds about right with what I've seen.
I like the aspartame study where they fed mice that have like a 50% chance of developing cancer ungodly amounts of aspartame (the equivalent of a whole case of diet soda every single day of your life starting at puberty), and 50% of the mice got cancer. "OMG, aspartame causes cancer!" they said. Fucking Italians.
There was. It was garbage and everyone scientifically literate laughed at it, but it exists.
No, we know that high fat intake is bad from many thousands of studies of all possible types conducted over decades, including human interventional and human mechanistic, as well as the common sense obvservation that fat people universally eat high-fat diets.
Modern fruits have the same sugar content as wild fruits. Stop believing random ketard shit you find on the internet.
What you think you eat always affects insulin response, stop getting buttflustered over nothing. Same exact food produces different insulin response depending on packaging and nutritional beliefs. Relevance = 0
Insulin is simply a hormone, imagine being fucking scared of it like you just read a 1992 issue of Cosmopolitan.
Chill. They're fine. You'd probably die of water poisoning before you get any direct adverse effects from the sweeteners.
Correlation is not causation, dumb ass. Most people who resort to diet soda are people who are fat and predisposed to diabetes and other obesity related conditions.
Fit people who stick diet soda are not in the same risk factor.
Fuck off you vegan retard
the sticky answers all:
"There area lot ofunsubstantiated negative myths about diet soda, and although it's stillhealthier than regular soda, it maykeep you in a habit of preferring overly sweet food. It's still probably best not to drink diet soda. Drink water instead, with the occasional coffee or tea for variety. After a few months of this, your soda cravings will slowly dissipate"
>tfw my friend's brother drinks 72 cans (6.5 gallons) of diet coke/diet dr pepper/coke zero per week and thinks it's fine because 0 calories
Drink as much as you want
