I wish I knew that lifting absolutely helps in looking more attractive to girls, but it is infinitely LESS important than actually just going up to them and talking to them and making them laugh.

I would have stuck with it a lot sooner if I had tried to ease into it instead of lift hard and end up with doms for a week, then take a couple weeks to remotivate and then rinse/repeat

My brother is trying to get me to stop DL's for this reason. I'm 155lbs, currently DLing 5x5 @ 215. I'm only increasing by 10 lbs a month. Is it genuinely risky? If so, then why do all these established routines use them?

I used to be big into powerlifting a few years back, could DL 3pl8 at 140 bw when I was 17.
Literally all the other hardcore lifters I met had fucked their shit up deadlifting, it’s not a meme. I had a few close calls myself. I think the thing that finally made me stop doing them was seeing my dad in pain from a slipped disk. I’m already genetically predisposed to back problems, so the risk isn’t worth it for me. You can still build a huge back with calisthenics (pull ups, muscle ups) which is what I mostly do now.

Honestly if you’re doing them with good form and are progressing fine then it’s probably ok, no matter what just DON’T try anything you can’t handle. You’ll start to hate them once you get up to the 3-4pl8 range
Also if you’re getting spinal pain stop right away

Imo deadlifts have worked well for me, I am a rugby player and they're pretty essential for strength. But do what you want, you know your body best if deadlifts don't work for you then don't do them, just know that you're missing out on an excercise that's worth like 5-6 isolation excercises and you'll be wasting your time in the gym otherwise.

Deadlifts aren't risky I've been doing them for years, you need good form though. Also I do a job where I mimick deadlifting and I've gotten nothing but stronger.

I want to keep doing them bc I love them, everyone's just making it sound like it's only a matter of time til you break your back on them.

Meanwhile athleanx never says they're dangerous, SS, SL and pretty much any conservative starting routine includes DL's, so I figure they can't be that bad.

Just be careful and don't be a dumbass and you should be fine, you're not at a high risk of snapping your shit up until you start getting into big boy weight

Things have changed since I've been here, I mean if you love them and you're not having any injuries or your body feels okay doing them then I'd suggest you keep climbing up in weight and then going for it. Once you reach a plateau or time where you're having trouble then you deload and decide whether or not the weight was holding you back or something else once you go back to progressing. I wouldn't sweat it man, literally every athlete deadlifts so I don't see what the big deal is. People saying it's only a matter of time till you get injured are silly, because as someone who lifts you literally put yourself at risk everytime you lift of getting injured. Somebody who lifts is 100% susceptible to lifting related injuries than somebody who doesn't lift.

Yes, your lifts will suffer at first because you're not eating enough but you're going to be making some long term aesthetic gains even if you give up. Plus you'll avoid stretch marks if your already chubby and when you do finally get gains you'll be able to see them immediately.

sorry for the late reply. honestly i have a foam roller but i find using a tennis ball a LOT easier it's super straight forward. just get on the floor and use it to break up your tight muscle basically, like tenderizing meat kind of except you're rubbing it out. sitting down for a long time made my hamstrings soooo tight but now with the ball between my hamstring and glute i sit on it and roll it, switch between legs every now and then, too easy. NEVER DO YOUR LOWER BACK THOUGH
