Traditional Irish script looks so much nicer than modern Irish, they should be teaching version in schools instead.

From the United Kingdom, traveled around Northern Ireland and the Republic for a week and so can't give much of a view aside from the basics. Find the mythology and its influence on English history to be interesting, recall reading one of the major divides between the English and Irish churches being the latter's insistence on abstaining from Pentecost (presumably from St. Bede's writing). The cities have a same-y feel though such is likely resultant from the short time-scale I visited them in, though they are almost all situated by rivers, are highly modern though modest in approach, demographically the same as the rest of the British isles. Accent wasn't noticeable aside from the north/ north-west and I could understand the average person fine. Found Drogheda and Londonderry to be very nice cities, perhaps because they weren't 'hip' and pretentious the way Galway was nor generic as Dublin. The architecture in the west w/ the actual presence of stone was gorgeous and seemed to get more anemic as I got to Cork and wrapped around to Dublin, still far more lush than the English land-scape, you can tell that it rains more to put it that way.

Towns in Northern Ireland e.g. Larne and iirc Ballymena are hilariously similar to the industrial north of England though the countryside is ridiculously nice and the coastline resembles that of southern Europe.

The amount of Americans spotted during my absence and lack of Englishmen (aside from bad drivers on tourist routes) was surprising, it did make the whole country feel like a glorified tourist resort w/ no real reason to exist other than 'being there' (I mean its obvious that Irish culture is as Americanized as ours is, play hurling as much as you want. Also its painful when someone references 'Irish music' and the first thing they play is Ed Sheeran's 'Galway Girl' but the Asian tourists will eat it up). Still, was nice.

I'm English and I've lived in Northern Ireland for about three years. Here and the Republic are both beautiful countries with some of the nicest people I've met. That being said, it often feels like the whole place is a decade or two behind sometimes.

Everyone that's visited me has enjoyed themselves and financially it's been a great move due to the house prices.
