Nayuki's felt the most natural and comfortable despite the the guest appearance of truck-kun , I really enjoyed it
I almost stopped Kanon because of Mai's autism and I couldn't understand how to trigger Shiori's route since you have like 3 lines of dialogue with her in the common route

Only halfway through Nayuki's atm and I have to agree that the relationship feels more natural than with Mai or Shiori. Still have to play Ayu and Makoto.

I personally was ok with her autism as her route felt kind of similar to Kotomi's in Clannad, but I really disliked the ending. The whole thing of her mother and her and Yuuichi already knowing each other came out of nowhere and just felt cheap

Some other Key stuff I guess. They're pretty long though, my first Japanese VN was Rewrite and it took me 11 months.

Rewrite is a good enough reason to pick up Japanese I guess. The official localization is still work in progress. I'll probably follow your advice, thank you

You're right, both Clannad and Little Busters felt way more consistent under that point of view, but it's understandable since Kanon feels like a prototype of both of them. Some lines in Shiori's ending basically describe the Refrain route in Little Busters

Yeah most of the games followed the Kanon formula since it was the winning VN formula, until they went with the mini game nonsense

Not that I remember of. It's been a while since I read Fuko's route, but the ending refusing the kiss wasn't that much different from the other one.

I get what you mean. Late 90's - early 00's aesthetic was something else. A lot of people find the big eyes odd, but they look generally less samey than most modern VNs.
