>doing things you enjoy is a vice
you betas are pathetic as fuck.

Repent your sins before it's too late

Religion is wasting your life

"The good man, though a slave, is free; the wicked, though he reigns, is a slave, and not the slave of a single man, but- what is worse - the slave of as many masters as he has vices." St. Augustine, The City of God

> doesn't know what a vice is

There's a reason the wages of sinning is death, enjoy doing your crack and see where you end

Life is meaningless without God, therefore everything you do is equally valid and subjective, and everyone and everything will become dust after you die

*never accomplishes anything*

Anything can't exist without God.

I used to be very very religious up to a few months ago but I have a hard time believing now because of things you would normally think.

For instance, stuff like magic mushrooms, why would God create a world where there are naturally occurring drugs like shrooms, weed, cocaine, etc which cause you to destroy yourself mentally? Why create a world with so much natural destruction like hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

Also, what about all the people who never have heard of Jesus? How are we really free to choose God is we do not innately know that he exists? How do we become culpable for unbelief when we are using God given reason to question?

What is the point of Jesus being gone so long? Why would he not usher in the end of the world and reconcile all things immediately after his resurrection? Why allow so much suffering instead? Why create people if he knows they will ultimately choose hell for themselves?

I have a thousand questions like these. And mostly the answer is 'we live in a fallen world' which is just a way to avoid answering the questions.

I agree the world seems fined tuned and purposive, but at the same time it seems like Jesus and God left so many holes and questions that are unanswerable. The way he was presented and the way the world is going, it just seems like there would be a more efficient and fair way to bring people to belief.

And for all the things you may "enjoy" you don't seem to be very happy user, because happiness only comes from virtue, and one day you'll find yourself realizing those "harmless vices" you have are the only things that keep you content with life, and that without them you feel soulless, and then maybe you'll come to realize the meaning of "as many masters as vices."

Attached: 1533913843066.jpg (765x994, 188K)

And btw I have a degree in Aristotlean and Thomistic philosophy, and along my studies I read a ton of Augustine, Aquinas, Christian Lit, etc. I still am struggling.

>wanting to be a slave so badly you believe wildly implausible fairy tales

You should believe in God not because its logical to do so but because death without a context beyond it has no meaning, and a lack of a meaning in death means there's no meaning in life either, which will lead you down the road to nihilism, and you don't want to be some nihilistic faggot do you?

That's because it's all bullshit mate.

Doubt is an important aspect to faith. Without it you're no more than a zealot. Even Christ doubted in his darkest times.

I am not saying God doesn't exist, I am just saying God as He is presented in Christianity is somewhat hard to wrap one's head around once you start to prod. At the same time I have have had some experiences within Christianity that seem to go beyond chance or coincidence. I have also experienced a lot of peace. The two worldviews are at odds.

As far as life having no meaning. Life can still have meaning if nothing happens after death. Existentialist philosophers like Sartre and Heidegger are good examples. Nihilism is stupid regardless. Even is the Christian idea of death is wrong, it doesn't mean that something else happens.

True, but I am Eastern Catholic. So, if I doubt and it causes me to sin 'mortally' then I go to hell. I just have a hard time believing that aspect. I mean, someone can live a life of virtue, but commit one mortal sin, and be damned forever. How?

Do I smell samefag? Or it is a 15old?

Kiss my pagan ass.

"Doubt is the essence of faith" is pure cope. It doesn't deal with the implausibility problem at all.

ok dad

And it goes back to culpability. If I tell you I can't believe anything other than 2+2=5 and you tell me it's 4, but doubt is the essence of math, it would would sound ridiculous because we can know 2+2=4 with 100% certainty. Therefore, a person is 100% culpable for believing 2+2=5 and deserves whatever happens as a result of that belief.

How can one be held to the same degree of culpability regarding Christianity? The Catholic Church states that it is a dogma that man can come to know God exists with 100% certainity via natural reason alone. However, the next part states that the Church does not endorse or provide any methods by which this is done. I know the philosophical arguments, and a lot are pretty sound, but they take a lot of intellectual labor. It just seems like in order for one to be truly free to accept or reject God, they have to be able to know the facts with certainty, in a concrete way. If that doesn't happen, I don't see how one is culpable.

Lmao based?

I will, thank you

>sounds super fucking gay and cringy my nigger
He replied posting an anime girl

im 31 married with a job that pays me 6 figures in the greatest nation on earth (switzerland) you pathetic betas need to stop projecting your insecurities im dying of cringe over here

> why would God create a world where there are naturally occurring drugs like shrooms, weed, cocaine, etc which cause you to destroy yourself mentally?

Basically the same thing as asking why evil exists, I don't remember the catholic answer but my opinion is that its both a physic necessity for the universe exist and a moral test to select those that will be saved

> Why create a world with so much natural destruction like hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

See above, also, if I remember correctly, people asked Jesus what sin a guy born blind had commited:

"As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'

'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

> Also, what about all the people who never have heard of Jesus?

They are judged based on how good they were, according to the catholic church. They don't go to hell because they had no way to know about jesus, I think it's called innocent ignorance or something

> How are we really free to choose God is we do not innately know that he exists?

I think you meant "if we do not know". Do you really think we (humans) would have free will to choose God or not if He made clear beyond any doubt that He is real? That He is the creator of the universe and nothing is too hard for Him?

>in 2019 its acceptable to post like this much of a fucking new fag and no one calls him out
this website is dead. just sell it to plebbit and move on

Continuing

> What is the point of Jesus being gone so long?

To let more people be saved I think

> Why would he not usher in the end of the world and reconcile all things immediately after his resurrection?

Dunno, why don't you you read the catechism or ask God directly by prayer?

> Why allow so much suffering instead?

See previous answers. To add one more, try playing a game with only good outcomes, no challenges or perils, and see how much you last playing it

> Why create people if he knows they will ultimately choose hell for themselves?

God didn't create anyone to go to hell, see Timothy 1:2,4

So He created people and wants them to reach heaven, but the choice is ultimately to them if they do so

> I have a thousand questions like these. And mostly the answer is 'we live in a fallen world' which is just a way to avoid answering the questions.

You've been speaking too much with protestants, ignore them as they are heretics (there are more than 50000 sects of protestantism and they really think their interpretation is right), read the catechism, the bible (using the interpretation of the bible the wrote and compiled it) and ask in prayer (He always answers one way or another).

It isn't the author's fault if you cant understand what's in the book really

>Being Married isn't an accomplishment
>Money isn't an indicator of happiness
>Obsession with betas
>Lmao guys look at this cringelord
>Projecting that were projecting

Jesus Christ mate, all we want people to do is read a few books because we think it will improve their lives, but apparently anything except anime posting reddit tier sarcasm and ad hominems is cringe

C'mon user, even secular people already realized this

You don't know what is faith, google the cath defnition

>Rugged rosaries
Don't spend your money here. This is a fake Catholic company only after your money.

>why did god make bad stuff
this is a shallow argument imo. you only have one frame of reference, in which there is good/bad and best/worst. the world is habitable but not made of nerf, how do you know that it isn't in absolutely optimal balance? from a religious perspective the world is made by God for us, from an evolutionary perspective we are tailormade for our environment. we also have, as a blessing and a curse, the ability to abstractly conceive of things being better or worse than they are now. for me, the fact that you can even conceive of a "better" world without tornadoes or other bad shit is an affirmation that you have been "made in the image of God". the God of the old testament was the God of future open possibilities

has a point. alot of the people crying "degenerate" are complaining about sour grapes. exactly the same as white people who are total life failures crying about "white privilege" acting like they chose to suck at life on purpose by "checking their privilege". it's very tempting to reframe your vices as virtues

>refraining from porn, bad eating habbits and vanity are not virtuous. You just pretend they are.

>omeone can live a life of virtue, but commit one mortal sin, and be damned forever. How?
wtf do you mean how? that's how the entire world works and has worked since the dawn of time. i don't know what constitutes a "mortal sin" maybe they have a menu or something, but there are some things that do not afford a second chance. the game requires stakes

those things can be virtuous, but if you're (not you personally) always shouting it at people then you have to ask if you're seeking validation for some destructive behavior. mostly i was thinking about
>sex before marriage is degenerate
when you know those people aren't in any "danger"

Sex before marriage is fine, sex without the intention of marriage is genuine soulless degeneracy

Well, for one, God could always create a better universe ad infinitum, logically. God just chose to create this universe. I'm not sure I buy the argument that one's desire for goodness or something better proves that something better exists in reality. I agree that the universe seems purposive in so far as everything appears to work in harmony toward some end, but again you can't make the jump from that to Christianity is the truth. As far as saying evil is a bad argument and it being unreasonable to doubt God's existence because of evil.
I pray you never actually say that to a person who lost a child to cancer or their spouse to a senseless crime. You can take Augustine s position and say evil is just a lack of a due good and we fulfill our purpose when there is no good lacking aka contemplation of the good or God. However, insofar as we exist is reality, simply explaining away evil as a lack of good is not sufficient. Evil has very real effects and influences and the fact that it does exist isn't so easily explained away.

So you think if someone spends their whole life being virtuous but looks at a woman's butt before getting hit by a car, they deserve hell?

And mortal sin has 3 conditions. 1.grave matter 2.full knowledge 3.full consent.

Buddy, I went to Catholic soon from the time I was 6 all the way through college. I was very devout. I went to one of the most conservative catholic colleges in the world where I had a classical education (in the medieval sense). I read so much Aquinas, Augustine, Anselm, Scotus, etc. that I am not just talking out of my ass.

> Lifts for a dude
What are you gay?

And in any point did you ask God to let you hear His voice?

> God could always create a better universe ad infinitum, logically.

We don't even fully comprehend our physics, why would you say that?

>His Name

Zyzz?

i figured as much. i don't trust any brands that try to seem "tough" or "masculine." you know, like all those beard companies, or those beauty products that have names like "man soap." its just kikes stealing our masculinity and trying to sell it back to us in a plastic box filled with estrogen.

No

this is big cope. you probably look like shit, or you're just a w*man
>Sex before marriage is fine
show me where jesus said that, degenerate

>in 2019 it's acceptable to post like this much of a fucking retard and no one calls him out
make the "muh anime site" argument but is that argument valid when posting anime on a fitness board, in a thread about spirituality?

Seriously this. Also if Jesus lifted then the romans would have never captured him in the first place.

jesus deadlifted us all out of hell

Yeah I was a daily mass goer for years.

It's a logical necessity, it has nothing to do with physics but with God's omnipotence. The only thing He can't do it terms of creation is create a perfect universe because there is also going to be an infinite gap between God and whatever he creates. The reason is because God's essence and existence (what he is = that he is aka I Am) are the same whereas the essence and existence of a creature are not.

Based. When you fall, get back up. We're all gonna make it.

Jesus went willingly

if that's on the list of mortal sins then the list is retarded

>so now he just labels everything he's scared to do as "degenerate"
Why do you people always assume fear as other people's primary motivation? I'm surprised you didn't work the word 'phobe' into your diatribe.

>evil is just a lack of a due good
i don't take that position. if something is good then something else has to be less good. if everything was good then nothing would be good. the absolute worst things you can think of (losing a child to cancer is a great example) are only the worst because they're compared to something good. what i would say to the parent is that the short time they had with their child outshines their tragic end. and anyone who wants to move on from that sort of experience will have to believe something along those lines (discovered on their own terms)

RELIGION IS THE BIGGEST COPE IS THE BIGGEST COPE

Lust is a mortal sin. Jesus literally said whoever looks at a woman with lust is guilty of adultery.

Life is transient. Vice is wasting your eternity.

And yet, you're stuck on the middle school tier theology conundrum, 'why do bad things happen to good people?'. I recommend reading C. S. Lewis' The Problem of Pain. He very methodically lays out and answers all kinds of questions like that in a way laymen of his era could understand.

that's retarded. the idea that some mistakes are so grave that they are irredeemable makes sense, and is obvious in the outside world. putting something like lust on the list is a joke. everyone has lust. literally everyone, they just succumb to it in varying degrees

speaking of sour grapes

Do you Eastern papists not have the idea of grace?

Does anyone have any good reason at all to believe any religion isn't just total nonsense?

ffs no wonder the priests thought being gay was such a neat life hack

religious texts are the oldest texts we have as a species, and if you invest more than 5min to learn how to read and understand them it's pretty clear why they've lived for so long

Well I guess it really depends on how culpable you are. For instance, if you watch porn and fap, that's a mortal sin if it's not due to an addiction. The same goes with looking at a girl's ass and using your reason to process it and continue to look with lust.
