Go anyway. At least try. The last time I skipped the gym was when I felt like I was about to puke. I still did some warm up cardio and 2 sets of squats before calling it off. I tried at least so no regrets.

if i have a headache and feel really weak i take a rest day. If i just feel a bit subpar and dont want to go , i go and use the machines. dont want to fuckup my legs squatting, so i do leg press f.e.

This is an important decision here that can ultimately reinforce mental processes for the rest of your life. It's not just about the workout today, its about choosing to go into the gym and put in the effort even though the motivation and energy isnt there. You go this one time and all of the sudden you might notice youre following through with good habits even though you didnt feel like it to begin with. All of the sudden your motivation to continue these habits strengthens and you notice you have 22 inch arms and a thicc azz brapper on em.

You have more days where you have no energy whatsoever than days where you have maximum testosterone and motivation.
You need discipline and remind yourself that even a shitty workout where you can't even get laughable weights up because your body is tired as shit, is better than no workout and your strength and muscles will be thankful in the long run.
I probably had more workouts where I could barely bench 100 kg then workouts where I repped it for 10 reps and especially on squats it varies wildly if I can squat 140 kg 8 times or barely get it up 3 times.

The only exception should be if you're actually sick.

I'm on day 3 of "stop being a lazy faggot", finally starting to exercise after sitting around doing literally nothing for the last couple years. I've been doing pushups, planks, and going for walks, plus a few other random things (stair runs for a few mins, etc). Sad as it is, I am fucking sore (mainly stiff) today. Should I power on or is it ok to rest when you're like this?

do some light cardio and stretch out the soreness. you'll be able to do a bit of exercise after. so long you don't do an insane amount it'll actually make the soreness/stiffness feel better.

As I've gotten older, I've made a habit of working out every single day. I do this for 2 reasons:

1.) I never have to exert willpower to go to the gym. I never have to look for motivation. I just fucking go like a robot because it is a day and I go every day.

2.) If I get to the gym and I well and truly feel like shit, I can have a shorter workout with like 4 sets of 3 exercises + 10 minutes in the sauna and I won't feel bad about it because I know I'll be back at the gym tomorrow.

I started doing PPL, but now I alternate upper/lower days.
