Bad for both sleep and your back, side is optimal. Sleeping with your neck parallel to your body is also far more comfortable on your side + pillow

Stretch your hip flexors and lower back out. Strengthen your abs and hamstrings. I used to have it pretty severe and it's gone away since I began stretching.
