It's known oly lifters have a higher CNS adaption than bodybuilders which means they can use their muscles better and hence gain better results with less muscle mass. Side benefit is also that CNS adaption doesn't get lost as quick as muscle mass from inactivity.

Anything that reaches failure in under 50 reps builds about the same amount of muscle, where 8-15 reps has a small advantage for size, and lower reps build 1RM faster whereas higher reps build more endurance

it only works if youre roiding. also you can obviously do sets of 10-15 instead of 5 or similar but you will still need to get some weight on the bar. noone will look jacked by only benching the bar even if its for a thousand reps

It's right as a generalization, yes. If you want to focus on hypertrophy you should focus on volume and applying progressive overload to it, and doing lower weight and higher reps, and almost never going to failure, will lead to more volume and give you a larger window to increase it with time.

Obviously there's a point where you can have reps that are too high because that means there's not enough intensity with the weights you're using, but all you have to do is use common sense and not do retarded sets of 20+ reps (even that will lead to hypertrophy though, it's just not optimal)

You need to rebuild muscle even if you aren't training like crazy. It is living tissue which is constantly working, so it needs repair and without protein it will degrade.
Also, it gets scavenged for protein to repair vital organs and to make up any energy deficit which your body fat can't fuel (there is a limit to how fast fat cells can turn stored fat into useable form). So fasting really does cause muscle loss. This may not be apparent because generally you look more muscular due to fat loss, you are likely to be no weaker in your regular lifts (since you have been making gains in technique, learning to activate muscles more fully, and strengthening the parts used for your lifts), and emptying your gut contents and shrinking internal organs fools the standard body fat test by narrowing your waist, which can make you think you are leaner.
