I disagree because i do a lot of video calls with clients and i get quite familiar with them, so when i finally meet them in person some of them have told me i look really different in person. I also had a long distance relationship once and when i hadn't seen her in person for a while she was always shocked at how thin i really look compared to the fucking potato on video calls.

So i think your shrink is talking shit. Photos aren't really realistic at all, focal length and lighting screws it all up, so i guess depending on your face shape you either look better or worse in photos.
