I've done a lot of manual labor. It sucks. Going to school for nursing so I don't have to do it forever. Stay hydrated, bring your lunch, and don't trust anyone.

>don't trust anyone.
what do u mean

I mean that most blue collar workers try to take advantage of you any way they can. If you're new and young, they certainly will. Don't be a bitch, and don't let them boss you around or fuck with you like one. You almost have to develop a prison mentality.

I found they want you to get a long weight or striped paint, just go to a massag parlour for an hour and come back looking disappointed. Works on my parents every time

Are you going to be a skilled laborer, or just a general laborer? Like the shit jobs like trenching and cleaning up job sites? I'm doing that for the summer until school starts. Hate every second of it but it's whatevs

This, also try not to be the biggest bitch on the job site, eat sleep recover well and come to work and don't be a complainer.

Also get ready to tolerate mild to severe racism and endless amounts of shitbagging.

You could be a complete sperg, an asshole or a twat, but if you know your shit and can work then people will still be forced to respect you... so I hope youve been studying.

cool thanks bro

manual labour sucks ass, you wll not make it doing manual labour, cause adding lifting to it just makes recovery a nightmare and you'll end up overtrainig every single time lifts go to any respectable level

T

please enlighten us on what exactly the fuck you know about prison, nerd

What type of construction?
I'm currently a labourer for a masonry company until the fall. The job is literally a workout. I've gotten stronger, leaner, and bigger. I only go to the gym maybe on weekends now cause I'm spent after work.

Tips? Don't talk back, don't be a bitch, dont try to act like you are "better" than others, stretch in the mornings, and dont fall into the construction lifestyle

Well I was sent to miltary school, joined the army, and I've been in county jail an awful lot when I was younger. Not saying that's prison, but you develop a certain kind of approach to being around a bunch of dudes full of testosterone and aggression. Prison mentality is just a terminology. Haven't you ever heard of it?

Kinda related, but how do you construction guys work out? I drive a water truck to sites all day and it's basically just sitting in a hot truck sweating all day. I dont do much manual labor but when I get home I have no energy. What's your guys strategies for that?

How do you have no energy afyer sitting in a truck all day ? Just start going to the gym and build up stamina or go hard on the weekend

I've been in construction and various related fields for 7 years now. Eat your protein and give up drinking. AMA

You would benefit from hot yoga and a sauna bro. Just being hot should wear you out that much. Are you drinking water and getting adequate potassium?

Shouldn't wear you out that much***

I carry around 2*4 mainly all day so it's not all draining.

Nigga when its 105 out and your in that for 8 hours its tiring

>give up drinking
Best advice here. The amount of drinking that goes on in construction is obscene. I work with a guy who can drink 13 beers after work, not even getting drunk then come to work at 7am the next day

I would have to dig fucking trenches all day long. In the Southern California summer heat. Fuck all that shit.

No A.C.?

dude I've worked for a moving company with only 15 minute breaks and 12 hour shifts in the Mississippi summer and still lifted afterwards
Shut the fuck up, you're sitting down in a fucking truck

Meant for

wear earplugs and ear muffs. both if you can. The tensor tympani and stepedius control the tightness of your 3 ear bones, and no matter how buff you get these muscles, you cant do cochlear reps. the scilia in your ears will become damaged from the various machines. Its just way too fucking loud.

If you dont want tinnitus, or worse, hyperacusis, wear fucking ear pro.

google the two conditions and you will see it literally drives people to suicide. Ive had both for about a year and not a day goes by that it doesnt hinder my day to day living and mental state.

WEAR. FUCKING. EAR PROTECTION.

These, also:

1. Learn to lift shit properly. NEVER use your back, use your knees.
2. NEVER push yourself to your limits to get the job done. If you get injured NOBODY will give a fuck. In my shithole of a country you're fucked completely, but even in places like the US your employer will, to your "surprise", try to fuck you over.
DONT end up unemployable and injured for life just because some blue collar asshole wants the project done 3 days earlier so he can go on his vacations.

3. Not your company, you're just an employee. Don't care too much. You're paid by the hour to do some kind of work. Put in the minimum acceptable effort and remember that you're not sharing profits with anyone. Don't go above and beyond, it'll only land you in trouble. You're not one of them.

Square up bitch. I could still put you in the ground

imagine trying to hard to step to me but getting completely #REKT in the process. Myfam, give up. You can't step to me. If you step to me you'll simply get rekt by me. Every time. Try again witto twump boi

>manual labor

Nah dog i wasn't born shit skin bruv

i work with my noggin and sign your work order

What is auto regulation?

>and dont fall into the construction lifestyle
What is that?

if you have to ask you'll never know

>being so butthurt that you have to threaten to start a virtual fight on Jow Forums

and I automate your job :^)

SQUARE UP

the fuck is that ?
speaking from personal experience, one just cannot work out regularly, using progressive overload while working manual labour, I work 12+ hour shifts and lift on days off, but coming in after a workout and doing a 12 hour shit of manual labour is just too much and burning out is simply a matter of time

How bout I pentagon your shit up

Attached: 1526175776937.jpg (480x352, 17K)

>steps to me
>gets rekt by me
>looks me up on reddit
>finds out I'm a mod on several anti-trump subs
>proceeds to get downvoted into oblivion essentially ending your reddit career
get rekt myfam

A lot of drinking, a lot of drugs, eating a lot of shitty food, drinking soda like it's water, being racist unironically, being chauvinistic to the point of yelling as women pass by(it's 2019 cmon), calling everyone a bitch or a pussy that isn't a blue collar worker, etc etc
Really shit environment, and I hate that I've done it for as long as I have. Can't wait to finish nursing school.

Why the fuck are you doing 12 hours shifts? Get the fuck outta there after 8 hours

Overtime was time and a half and I was broke bro. I made some good ass money for a young kid during that summer.

Ex - labourer here
Body adapted pretty well imo.
My strength gains didn't increase but i got leaner and more physically fit.
Eat lots of fruits and veg, hydrate and invest in creatine.

kek imagine being this much of a softcunt

I have one day off per week and I use it to binge drink. When your life sucks so much you need a way out.

ty

Jr web developer here but I've done years of manual labor before I got out of it.

Factory work and landscaping mostly. Besides being on your feet all day, having to wear steel toe shoes, usually sweating buckets the only tip is to accept that it's going to suck at first because your body is going to be very sore the first week or so as you adapt, you're going to be burning a shit ton of calories so expect to lose weight if you don't start eating more, keep liquid with you if you can because you're going to feel very tired at the of the day if you aren't keeping yourself hydrated.

With all of that said it never kept me from the gym. Sometimes 12 hour shifts suck but you can still split your gym routine up into 2 days if you have to.

>Been in the same shitty factory part time job for four years now
And Im 4 years away from my engineering degree. Shit sucks hard man, people who are one day going to be making big money have to spend time at lowest possible position. Anyway I get paid 100€/weekend if I luck out on night shift. and believe me that kind of money is no joke here in eastern europe.

Make absolutely sure you get some lower back exrcises before you go. Thank me later

I prefer manual labor to office work. And nursing atleast where I'm from is a lot more draining, and life stealing than manual labor is. Although it does pay well with lots of over time. (I hate over time)

I respect your hard work. keep it up

>use your knees, not your back

stupid advice
youtube.com/watch?v=_aqYYhM7CrU&t=

How is nursing like? Ain't the shift work and working night shifts gonna wreck your sleep and gains?

How is nursing draining?

gotta find something better than the drink, user

>Breaking your body for shit wages
Get an education.

Thanks bro, dont have much choice but its getting easier as I get Jow Forums. Also a partial reason I started getting Jow Forums in the first place, once you have some ind of physique going on the job becomes much more enjoyable

Do you know how busy the average nurse is? Every nurse i know is completely exhausted.

op here ee too. 100 euros is no joke here per week

damn ive been blessed
i would if i could

Attached: 1556586338763.jpg (828x1239, 432K)

i work 16 days a month, some month 14 days, this gives me more free time compared to 8 hours mon-fri work, pay is also good

>endless shitbagging
Jesus Christ no wonder construction crews take 4 years to pave an 8th mile of road

Why can’t you?

No, which is why i am asking. I'd would be cool if you answered the question :O)

No downtime in a hospital bro, they work constant overtime due to short staff

They're exhausted because they are women. You dont see women at construction sites

Fucking gains goblin. If you're trying to bulk get ready to eat way more.

I've been working at UPS for a year and my forearms are STILL fucked.
I thought they'd eventually acclimate to the stress being put on them but jesus every day it just feels like my forearm bone is going to pop out the pinkie side of my arms.

I've just done manual labor too long. I have arthritis, and I'm getting up there in age. I also have grown to hate the blue collar lifestyle and the people I meet are generally complete shitheads, extremely low IQ, or a dangerous combination of both. The work is unfulfilling as well, I'd rather actually help people instead of aiding contractors to make more money. I don't want to go the contractor route because that's just not me. Don't get me wrong, I like to work with my hands and stay busy, but the inflammation is real and painful as fuck. I probably won't love it, but at least I will make more money and not ache so much.

Eat a big breakfast, get ready to be humbled by guys twice your age.

the only reason to give up drinking while working construction is to avoid drinking your wages

Don't drink during the week. Always get up early enough to eat a filling breakfast. Drink plenty of water. Get enough sleep. Eat healthy, don't eat a bunch of fast food, if it means you have to make your own lunch, then do so. Learn to have an incredible amount of patience, especially if you don't know as much as the other guys. Never lose your cool, do not complain, do not bitch out. If you fuck something up, own up to it and fix it and don't fuck it up the next time. Don't try and lift the heaviest shit everytime, it's not a competition.

Sleep a lot and make sure you’re eating enough. You’ll make it, brah

I’m a software engineer, but I also have a small farm. If I could farm all day, I would absolutely do it, but the money’s just not there.

I work 12 hour shifts, four on four off. This summer should be it though, hopefully I'm doing something better next year. How many calories do you burn a day in a factory job?

This is exactly true
I'm doing framing and I wish I had been told.word for word this

Bring a smart protein-rich lunch, dont waste your money on dumb 6.99 fastfood meals. The cost racks up.

Dont drink on weekdays. Drink water before and after your shifts. Bring some crystal light packets or some shit like that for breaks& lunches.

LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS NOT YOUR BACK

Wear your PPE at ALL times. Tinnitus sucks. So does getting iron flecks in your tearducts. Or fiberglass in your lungs. Or your balls lopped off because you didnt secure your harness tight as fuck.

Work smart, not hard.

Sunscreen isnt a bad idea, thats how u stay handsome. Dont let those crusty ass hicks give you shit.

Think about investing in some good soles or high-end boots. Also a nicer bed.

maybe because im poor as fuck from poor family?

This in addition to the physical stuff mentioned in this thread. Stay humble and dont plan on staying in this industry. Old men have it worse than anyone on the job site.
Look into attending night school to further or change your career.Choose a highly specialized trade or move up to manager/supervisor.

he's just a poor boy from a poor senpai-a-ly

Look at this fag

You're a punk ass bitch, fucking soft boy. Get dilated, retard

Most nurses are lazy girls that abuse prescription drugs. If this user is a remotely attractive dude, he'll get his pick of the bored female staff
