Be straight with me Jow Forums, is a low carb diet a meme or does it really not matter when trying to lose weight? I've put on a lot of weight over the last year that I'm trying to get rid of, so I'm just focusing on calories in/calories out. But should I actually try to avoid as much carbs as I can, or is that just meme perpetuated by ketofags?

If you want to lose weight, don't eat. It is that simple. Diets are useless, just make sure you don't eat processed sugars and other shit when you are done fasting
Probably the most retarded advice ever given. Kill yourself.
Op, eat in calorie defecit. Go for a run each day. Watch the kgs drop off.
Thats it. That's litterly it.
lowcarb helps with hunger but doesnt have a huge effect on weightloss, maybe its 10% extra maybe its 10% worse, just eat clean and in a deficit
Eh, if you want to fuck up your knees, go for it. Running is not a beginner exercise. If you want to really do some cardio, either go swimming, HIIT, or inclined walking for half an hour. Rest is just lifting weights and good nights rest. Can't outtrain a bad diet tho.
Burn more than eat = weight loss. Low carb is a meme and bad for you health.

Pretty much what I've been doing. Tracking and weighing everything I eat. I'll for a 5ish mile walk around the local park for a bit and lift as well. I believe it's been working, but I didn't know if I was giving myself an extra headache by trying to cut out as many carbs as humanly possible.
yes it is a meme
calories in, calories out
all diets and fads obey this rule, except they want to make money so they add superfluous conditions and only they know the true way, find out more for only 19.99
now featuring even more buzzwords, placebo, and anecdotal wishful thinking
Only thing important when dieting is retaining muscle and that depends on only protein and fat intake. You can have the adequate protein and adequate fat with the least amount of calories possible.
Low carb is basically the most efficient way to diet.
agree with this user, running can do a lot of joint damage due to high impact
incline walking much better - virtually no impact and builds lots of strength and endurance
Running is the most dumb thing for fat people to do.
You should eat low carb no matter what it's better for you but you don't need to be extreme about it. Like 150-200 grams a day of carbs a day or less.
As far as being practical, replacing those carbs with protein and fat will make you full longer.
200 carbs is 800 kcal which is almost 2 pounds of fat a week. If you want to slow your fat loss by 2lb a week eat 200 carbs,
Low carb diets usually mean ur gonna be in ketosis which mean instead of burning carbs for fuel your body burns its stored fat
It's really only ideal for short periods of time though like couple of weeks maybe months but not long term do to longevity of life.
It's basically your body going into starvation mode eating up the stored energy your body didn't use aka fat
Are you retarded
>keto is starvation mode
Ketogenic diets have a higher TDEE than normal carbohydrate diets. That's the opposite of starvation mode.
You don't understand simple math. Eating an extra 200 carbs a day means you'll lose 1.6 pounds less a week. No reason to eat carbs it only slows down your weight loss and doesn't help retain muscle.
Protein primarily is responsible for retaining muscle. Fat is also indirectly responsible through hormones.
This user is an example of "Your brain on keto" OP. No need further explanation.
Kek. Another low IQ manlet.
You don't understand sustainable diets. No one said eating an extra 200 carbs I said limit your carbs to 200 because most people eat way more than that. Most people like eating fruits and vegetables you mentally deranged ketoshitter. Most people don't want to be limited to spinach and avocado and bacon every day.
The point of dieting is to lose weight. Your advice is to eat 200 carbs a day and lose 1.6 less pounds of fat a week for no reason other than muh carbs. You're literally braindead.
Wow and you could lose even more weight by cutting the same amount of fat from your macros. 10 or more pounds of lost weight on keto is water weight.
The most important thing to understand is that the anti-carb and anti-sugar hysteria is a marketing tactic by the meat, oil and dairy industries fighting the scientific consensus. It's wholly analogous to oil and coal companies funding people to say that global warming isn't real. The only difference is that if you follow the pseudoscience in nutrition only you die of heart disease, whereas with global warming it affects the whole planet
Like I said, fat is indirectly responsible for retaining muscle. You can only cut it to a certain amount until you start to lose muscle. Carbs have no physiological function for retaining muscle and are basically just a fuel source.
It feels like I'm talking to a 12 year old.
Not the same user, but you realize that you need carbs for fast energy, don't you? Besides, dieting is not only about losing weight, it's about setting a habit that you can keep forever. It is better to lose weight at a slower pace if it means that you'll stick to a proper nutrition in the long term, rather than wasting 3 months on a diet done for epileptic children just to go back to shitty eating after you're done with it. There's absolutely no point in losing weight quicker in exchange of worse dietary habits.
Based schizo poster
Not sure what you're talking about but being in a caloric deficit is exclusively about losing weight. Studies show the faster you lose weight the more likely you are to keep it off.
Telling someone to eat 200 carbs a day and slow down their fatloss by 1.6lb a week which prolongs their diet by weeks or months is the height of broscience retardation.
I didn't actually mean starvation mode where your body starts to hold onto calories because of calorie deficit.
Post body fatass
It helps reduce bodyfat by not actually putting anymore on. "Weight loss" is just calories in calories out but to really cut down on bodyfat % cutting carbs is the safest, quickest and easiest way.
Randall cycle explains why carb cycling and then the ketogenic diet is so successful. It literally only doesn't work with people that cheat on it but still say they're lowcarb or keto. Like my dad who drinks beer and eats ice cream with his daily cheeseburger while telling everyone he is on keto.
You don't "need" keto but low carb will definitely help cut fat. Anyone saying otherwise is stuck on the idea that the only difference between carbs and fats is 4 vs 8 calories per gram. It's outdated and ignores very plausible evidence.
The reason there is so much push back is because of men's health magazines telling you you need pre and post workout carbs along with their carb heavy mass gainer sponsorships.
>ketard talking about broscience
I like how you say weight loss is CICO but it also isn't CICO in the same post so no matter which part people criticize you can always claim you didn't say that.
And the reason there is pushback is because you are arguing against what the entire scientific community everywhere on the planet says. You are a nutrition flat-earther
Here's my weight loss macros
not eating carbs cuts fat in the same way not eating anything cuts fat
in the end its calories in, calories out
how extreme or reckless you want to be about how fast you cut the fat is up to you
i like not being miserable so i eat yummy carbs and lose just as much weight as anyone else with the same caloric deficit
People who think CICO is a sufficient explanation of the human metabolism are generally the dumbest, least educated and scientifically illiterate people on the planet.
post body
its sufficient for weight loss
the uncertainty in maintenance calories and how much you are consuming alone makes anything more complicated a waste of time
why bother getting anal about everything when your uncertainty is in the hundreds of calories
try not to get stuck on the little things, this is how one ascends from autism
