Went to my first session a few days ago, was doing okay but ending up vomiting after like 30 mins - is this normal? About to go to my second session in a few hours
First BJJ Session

Yeah, its gonna suck for a month or so until you learn some techniques and get some cardio, hang in there user
>blue belt
Fatigue is normal when you're starting a form of martial arts and aren't as fit
>t. Current weightlifter, former martial artist
ah thanks I wasn't expecting to be that tired since ive been lifting for roughly 3 years and have been doing sports my whole life
Go to the doctor ASAP OP. That's not normal and it sounds pretty serious.
Yea I did. Sparring in anything is usually more exhausting than other cardio but BJJ sparring tends to be really packed in so that ups the humidity like crazy and the air quality. Makes it worse.I threw up the first time.
As you get better it gets much easier. I move on to the next martial art as soon as I start getting through a whole class and not feeling the need to shower after.
>that rh- dude with generalized anxiety
don't eat for 3 hours before class
drink bcaa
Ah, so you're one of those new white belts that goes totally ham and beats my old ass even though I've been going for a year.
BJJ is like nothing else, its completely exhausting when you first start. Just take it easy, rollig is super fun but you need to learn the fundamentals by attending as often as possible. And theres the injury factor, rolling intense doing stupid shit is no good if you're repeatedly off the mats for 8 weeks due to injury.
Its a marathon, not a sprint. And do yourself a favor: find a colored belt half your size and tell them to go all-out on your ass. You'll be hooked after that.
this x100
it's pathetic to see these new guys trying so fucking hard just to get a win when thy're not really learning anything new or gaining a better understanding of the sport, just gassing out and end up injuring themselves and others
flow with the go
>The new guy who never did any martial arts beats you, who has been going for a year
>It's his fault, he's pathetic for trying hard
Why do you even go
You aren't supposed to go all-out on sparring retard, it's more like playing around than anything. If you are only planning on practicing technique and you aren't prepared for someone your weight or heavier to use all that weight against you, you're probably gonna lose regardless of experience
actually in reality it was more like I would chill and converse energy while they thrash around to exhaustion and then I just sweep to mount to armbar
or any other variation of easy submission on a gassed out dummy
they never win that way, they just endanger themselves and others and look like fools when they are completely red in the face, panting, defeated
You have to learn how to speak before you enter a debate. It's the same thing between sparring in class and being in an actual fight.
You don't learn shit by constantly zerg rushing.
It’s about efficiency of movement and controlling you breath. V02 max plays relatively little role in how tired you get.
With enough skill one can handle spazzes while being relaxed the whole time, which is nice.
The key is to get good enough to be able to do that without getting hurt.
It’s a martial art. You should be able to handle some new guy spazzing and realize how to control them and beat them. You are taking what you learned and putting against as life like of a situation that isn’t mma.
just a daily reminder if this guy went to a BJJ class he would manhandle everyone like toys

This dude is the fit meme I dislike most currently. Worse than people that still pretend to worship zyzz and larping christcucks.
But hes not, and neither are you
Faggot
yepp a man that throws 315 lbs like nothing is a meme
he can curl your deadlift max and shrug you to death
that's be interesting, he should do it actuallly
You won't learn to control people in a real life situation if you don't roll with fully spazzing, big, strong white belts now and then.
Happened a few times to me too. You can't chicken out while rolling even if you are out of gas after all.
Oh wow he can do with 212kg bw and momentum what oly lifters can at 80kg as the start of their warmup, except they actually do a lift. This fuck is not strong, he is obese and close to death. And he'd get even closer doing cardio even close to a regular BJJ sparring. It's really a shit meme, and you're a shit person for getting your laughs from posting this guy. And if you're actually serious then fucking lmao. You'll die like him, heart attack in your forties, fat powershitter.
Does bjj make you wear that gii outfit? Do you have to call the teacher sensei and all the moves by their 11 name?
Looking for a grappling art that skips those things.
>neck is absent
>all joints are so covered in fat you cant target them
kind of a good idea
Another time when you realize weight lifting strength is basically useless for anything that is not weight lifting.
A lot of the time, yeah, but it depends where you go. I go to a place where I can basically wear whatever I want and turn up whenever I want, because I'm a paying customer and that's it.
No gi BJJ lol
Not entirely true desu, weight lifting on it's own will not win you fights but being big and strong is a gigantic advantage in grappling and fighting in general. Some with great strength and half decent technique can ragdoll someone with great strength but isn't strong.
Find a chill MMA that teaches no gi BJJ. I just call my coach by name.
Recently started doing no gi BJJ
Got my ass kicked on the ground but jesus fucking christ their stand game fucking sucks ass
t. brown belt judo
lel true, most bjj schools will teach like one or two half ass takedowns every few weeks and that's it, some not at all. kinda of silly honestly since all competitions start on the feet or even for self defense.
>Starts at feet
>Immediately goes into guard
"Why yes Dragonborn, I have been waiting for you for an eternity"
>t. brown belt judo
can you improve at throws or it's just talent? we did some when i was doing kudo but i always sucked at them and never felt them correct.
maybe also because we weren't many and i always had to throw people 20kg more than me
That's not the brazil way. If you find real brazilians teaching, who haven't been corrupted by mcdojo culture in america they're gonna be very chill.
Might be easier for the lil fellas to pull guard immediately in comp but for the big boys like myself it usually just results in getting smashed.
It's just practise user, I literally trained from child (6 to 18 dropped out halfway my black belt training).
