Tfw there is literally ZERO VIDEO EVIDENCE of a barbell deadlift causing SPINAL injury

>tfw there is literally ZERO VIDEO EVIDENCE of a barbell deadlift causing SPINAL injury.

Why is this? There's video of all the other common injuries from other exercises. But for such a "dangerous" exercise for the spine, why is there not any video evidence of somebody hurting their SPINE (not muscles) during a barbell deadlift.

1. Deadlifts make your back stronger, therefore more resistant to injury
2. Deadlifts performed with correct form do not put a huge amount of stress on the spine.

It's not like it'll snap your spine in two, but consistent deadlifts with bad form will lead to complications later in life

>people still think that the belt has anything to do with your back

No pain no gain => tremendous pain = massive gains

I've had back pain on my right side for the past year, especially when taking a false step I would get a shooting pain in my lower back. Since I started deadlifting 3 months ago no pain whatsoever and never got that shooting pain again

What exactly do people who lean back at the top think they're accomplishing?

I think they're trying to lock out, you can see it in competitions too, they lean back to hide the fact that the shoulders aren't locked out.

yes there is.

You filming your deadlift PRs with an MRI camera or something?
I mean I agree, deadlifts are good, but what the fuck are you talking about?

I do it too and it's made my peepee bigger

post yfw deadlift is actually one of the exercises with clinical proof of causing injury to the spine in an experienced and well trained lifter

opie abandoned thread with tail between legs.
for shame.
for SHAME!

You're suppose to sort of thrust a little bit at the top engage your glutes. They are trying to do this but overdoing it.

Please tell me those are fake plates and this is a joke

AAAAAaaaaaAAAAAAAAA

I saw someone post a study here a few weeks back that basically amounted to there being evidence that spinal injuries can actually be caused by obsessing about form and thinking every single little tweak is a horrible injury. I too rarely ever hear of injuries outside of the extremes, but much more commonly from people using bitch weights and being excessively anal about their form.

There is a video of some guy deadlifting and his lower spine literally just snaps in half from a normal set

He has good form when he first sets up but then he intentionally drops out of it to do the lift. What the fuck

/thread

Prove it

If you understand spinal kinematics then this pic should be self explanatory. Good form won't necessarily save your spine from breaking down either.

What was the joke? Inb4 >your 1rm

The problem is that bad dead form can exacerbate disc hernias over time. This is usually a systemic problem, not due to just deadlift.

That's all theoretical though, since no one ever actually goes to snap city in one workout, unless they intentionally go full retard. The worst injury you can get from a single deadlift session is a torn bicep from using a hook grip

Kekd in disbelief

I remember when troll threads used to be good....

do you mean mixed grip? I was under the impression hook grip is pretty safe

I've heard that it was for keeping the core straight and tight for better form. But then again, I used to think it was a gut-busting belt that helped reduce risk of hernias.
