I did cardio for the first time in forever yesterday and now this part of my leg is really sore. Not like a DOMS kind of sore, a more painful one. Like maybe I have improper form or something. I did hiit sprinting for 1 mile and jogged 2. How can I prevent this in the future?

I took some anti-inflamatory pills, slept it off, and was ready the next day.
You're heel-striking.
That would be your anterior tibialis primarily but pretty much all the ankle dorsiflexors in your anterior compartment of your lower leg.
It hurts because it hasn’t been trained much. It’s not exactly a muscle that gets a lot of action except for walking.
When you run, it has to work more because you have to dorsi flex more for clearing the ground and then stay that way until your heel strike.
As you run more it will strengthen and will hurt less.
Oh, I wasn't OP. Just telling him to take Tylenol or something. Nice info though.
>run for one day
>already complaining
not gonna make it
So a mix of betting untrained and heel striking? I try to run without heel striking but I have to remain conscious of it the entire time, I'll work on improving my form. Thanks.
the heel striking part is probably bullshit. Its being under trained
Being* not betting
The heel strike is a natural part of the human gait. Currently it’s a highly contested concept as to how important or damaging it is.
Personally, I would say the heel strike isn’t the cause. After all, the calcaneous is a stable area of the foot, which has a plethora of ligaments to support its ability to absorb the impact. Furthermore, that impact can be distributed along the rest of the lower leg if you heel strike with your tibia in line with the point of impact.
My bad, user. I thought it was a follow up to OP’s post.
Thanks, that's very interesting. I had heard that we heel strike because we're used to wearing shoes with raised heels and heel striking was actually unnatural.
It’s hard to say, honestly. I’m sure there’s plenty of data backing up both using a heel strike and not using a heel strike. I personally haven’t looked into it a lot. I just know what I learned from my classes.
However, factors such as foot shape, foot wear, and running volume likely affect both investigations.
You're either a gigantic pussy or don't workout hard enough
You over did it for your first time
Rest and take it easy next time build up slowly
It's not natural you fucking retard go run barefoot and try to land on your heel.
>don't do cardio
>decide to introduce it by going hiit instead of steady state
>surprised that I'm injured now
you're an idiot.
Shin splints. There is a really good stretch for them where you basically sit on your feet and your leg gets stretched out it feels pretty great when you have those.
What did you do for HITT?
yeah bros why make use of your elastic springy foot complex when you can absorb impact in your BONES
If you think Converse® are running shoes then you are a Stupid Jackass. Maybe thats why your legs hurt
This. Get a roller and look up some stretch techniques.
If you sit a lot acid builds up in your legs and makes it painful to walk. Walk more and it goes away.
only way for the pain to go away is to keep running. Sucks I know but just push through it.
I didn't run in Converse, I ran in ultra boosts
