Anyone else finally willing to admit it IS a problem? Tips on quitting? How do you quit when every friendship you’ve built includes smoking weed?

No? It's not a problem and it's super easy to quit, you literally just stop and you're fine and that's it.

>having friends
Hah

My old HS friends are stoners and honestly? Find new friends. Don’t cut off contact with your old friends, but just lessen your exposure to them.
Get rid of all your gear/glass except for a pipe or one hitter and smoke out of that. Eventually work your way down to not needing to get a fix. This is what I did to go from several bowls a day to just doing it socially.

Attached: IMG_20180729_180005.jpg (960x546, 192K)

The way I did it was I cut the person out of my life because that person was toxic and manipulative. Realized that weed was just a coping mechanism for me and most people I came across from facing problems in reality. Realized if I never started I would of probably had over 15k dollars just sitting around and that I wasted my youth getting high instead of making unhealthy relationships.

shit, just like me
you need quit with stoner "friends", than quiting weed is easy

stop buying it and eventually everyone will stop smoking you out because you never do the same for them

probably the same way I quit drinking. just stop. All my "friends" drink and thats all they do. I dont see them much anymore.

boo hoo grow up

Idk user, I'm coming off a 5 year opioid habit and weed is pretty fucking helpful in that regard. Not saying it's the best thing ever, but it's much easier to keep under control

If you think it's a problem, it's most likely a problem. Just stop smoking it if you want. You can't die from withdrawal, and there's no reason to stop being friends with people just because they use cannabis.

Try writing down a list of your personal pros and cons of using cannabis, think about whether or not it's something you think you should be doing, and then proceed accordingly. It feels good to do things that are good for you, even if the thing itself doesn't necessarily feel good. Like cleaning your room, or not watching porn.

Read up on the brain damage you cause to yourself every time you smoke it. Should be a simple thing to quit once you face the consequences like a man.

Just make sure you don't get addicted to opioids like this guy. I don't think it would be very optimal.

This guy gets it. Use your thinker and be honest with yourself.

Currently on a T break.
Honestly, as a college student, it doesen't really get in the way of things, but I don't really find myself smoking daily into my 30s

Move to Tokyo. That seems to do the trick.

I could use some help to quit, I don't even like smoking it that much any more but i find it hard to eat big dinners and to sleep without it. its a huge drain on money and it makes me lazy, although I see it as better than alcohol.

Attached: 1556887638182.jpg (712x713, 47K)

>it's super easy to quit
Every single person I know that regularly does weed says this, yet none of them can actually bring themselves to quit. Unless it's medically prescribed to you, it's more harmful than not doing it so there's no reason to ever start. Same goes with vaping and alcohol.

Quitting weed was one of the best things I did for myself. It affects everyone differently and in my situation it has detrimental. I still love the stuff but it just doesn't fit my lifestyle.

should only be eaten, not smoked

If something like weed fucks up your productivity, it means that you have no self control nor discipline. These type of people are the ones that could easily turn into a junkie/fatass

lower the dose every day to the minimum you need and don't start until the evening if you want to avoid being unable to sleep. then just get it lower and lower until its pretty much just a weed flavoured cigarette but it flicks the switches in your brain until you van just stop. It ain't easy and anyone saying it is can go fuck themselves, I have done a heinous amount of other drugs including a lot of benzos, amphetamine and I've even injected cocaine but weed is the one thing that has become such a habit that I have great trouble stopping it

t.liberal artistic studies degree

I am a alcoholic and weed keeps me on the path of weight training and healthy food.

up to a point yes but it has negative effects that aren't noticed on everyone that uses it too much. the successful weed smokers won't do it all of the time

it probably better but i think in the long run you would be better off slowly reducing it and finding the motivation within yourself, your brain will thank you. have fun though and fide that tasty wave away from alcoholism. I fucking love exercising on weed so i can see why you do

t.

ok I'll bite, what did you actually study then? what "real" subject allowed you to not be inhibited by weed to complete?

Pharma, 5th year

kek ok that makes sense
>what happens when you inject this into this animal? ok write that down
yeah i could probably do that stoned as well bud

I wish I could get the high that most people feel when they smoke weed. That chilled out “stoney” vibe that I always hear people talking about. However, that’s never been the case for me. Everytime I smoke I flip the fuck out. I hear if this happens on your first or second time it’s normal but if it keeps happening to you after that then you have something going on genetically that makes you react bad to weed. Even after freaking out everytime on it I somehow convince myself “oh maybe that just wasn’t the right strain”, “maybe that just wasn’t the right setting” “maybe that stuff was laced”, ect. Nope, everytime I freak out. And when I say freak out I mean absolutely terrified. I’ve had something called depersonalization since I was 9 (28 now) and weed really sets this off. Basically I feel like I’m dead/out of my body and not existing but at the same time I’m still in my body. It’s a hard feeling to describe if you’ve never had it but it’s definitely terrifying.

Lmao you probably wouldn't get through 1st year chemistry, algebra and anatomy, so I highly doubt you would even finish biochemistry and microbiology

Attached: 1525996801312.png (226x223, 5K)

>almost never smoke, even when I was in high school
>all my friends liked to smoke and hung out with each other
>usually didn't come along because it just wasn't that fun for me and I felt awkward being the only sober person
>now I'm 24 and have literally no friends because we drifted apart because of weed

It fucking hurts bros, I should have smoked more weed when I was younger

It's definitely not

I smoke pretty regularly as well (2-4 times a week) and am currently writing my Masters Thesis in Physics. It doesn't really interfere with anything academical, just with my cut. When I had exams I took 6+ weeks off every time though, you do need that extra bit of mental clarity if you don't want to waste more time studying than you need to

I've had huge problems with alcohol in the past as well user. My brains reward centers are definitely fucked but I'm getting there.

Weed has had a pretty positive impact in my life but the bar has been set pretty low the past few years. Lifting is the only thing that even comes close in terms of a rush of good feels

Attached: 442.png (540x788, 719K)

Cope.
Some people can smoke weed and still study. I certainly can't but my friend graduated with a degree in neuroscience smoking all the time

>ran out of green.
>cba to go get some more.
>decided fug it might as well quit anyway after working out roughly how much a spent a year on it.
That easy user.
If you quit and your friends are all up in your face about not wanting to rip bongs or get smoked out all night then they aint your friends so its time to find some new ones.

As someone who quit a 4 year, 100$ a day heroin habit.
Literally just quit being a fucking pussy. What you are trying to do is to not do something. It is definably the easiest thing imaginable. Quit hanging out with losers, and starting doing active shit. I joined MeetUp and I do beer events, or hiking. Shit last month I tried a young republicans meet up (it fucking sucked.) literally just stop smoking pot you fucking pussy.
T.5 years sober.
(t.made it)

mate im about to finish a chemistry degree i think i could manage your simplified organic chemistry.
>neuroscience
again. this is literally applied biology. you don't need abstract thought or large amounts of processing power to understand the concepts in it. I've smoked weed a lot in my degree but I would never try and say it hasn't affected my grades and continuing to do it throughout exams would be plain stupid

Hol up, are you trying to suggest neuroscience is “simplified chemistry”?

akhchuallee you just got the wrong strain cos some have more cbd and will cure cancer and bring your mother back from the dead
>Basically I feel like I’m dead/out of my body and not existing but at the same time I’m still in my body
sounds fun

but if you kept that extra bit of mental clarity your understanding and memory of your subject would be so much better. if you can say that not smoking gives you clarity and that weed doesn't affect your studies in the same post you need to take a serious look at your relationship with weed, your desire to smoke is deluding you. i smoke a lot and stop for exams as well but weed affects you to some degree whoever you are and often on ways you don't notice or only notice when you stop. for fucks sake weed is a bad thing just accept that and be careful with it. I know booze is bad for me but I genuinely would recommend teetotaling to anyone

now I'm trying to say that you clearly don't need any reading comprehension to get whatever degree you got and that you would do well to reread my posts

You are an unpleasant person, no matter how many gainz you get, women will not like you. You are never gonna make it with that attitude of yours.

kek. I have a steady gf and im about to finish a decent degree. I did not need to reiterate my points they are already there. weed always has some negative effects just get over it and smoke sensibly you dolt. nice ad hominem but it was a little off

Find better things to spend your time on. I didn't think I'd be the person to give advice on this, untill I remembered I spent a year in my early twenties doing nothing but smoke weed and waste away. It all feels so distant now.

During the semester I don't really put in any work anyways, so there isn't much for it to interfere with in the first place. When I need to study I stop, so saying that its not an issue really isn't self-contradictory. At the moment I am doing research, which I don't really need my full focus for either. When I get close to finishing writing up my Thesis I'll probably stop again so I can do as good a job as possible, but right now I can afford to smoke in my free time.
Of course smoking weed is more of a negative career and health wise, but it is one of the few unhealthy things I enjoy, and I do like the changes in perspective I get from it, as well as the social aspect.
Since I started smoking weed I have also mostly given up on alcohol, so I would say I am probably healthier as far as my methods of intoxication go now than I was before

fair enough and keep it sensible. I just don't get how you can say you don't need your full focus for your research and not see that your research would be better without that influence. believe me i smoke a fair bit also and do a lot more at the end but I don't lie to myself

quit it while you can. i smoked for 10y. i had like 5 good "friends". after i quit, its been a while since i even saw them. friendships build on drugs dont last. there are no friendships anyway.

look OP, weed doesn’t make a person a useless piece of shit. if weed is what is holding someone back, then they were a useless piece of shit before the weed.
>nothing like working out or doing cardio with a nice high

Attached: E4F32FDC-CD58-45CC-9E0A-0A14A207B0B0.gif (500x272, 1.95M)

I'm mostly doing experiments, don't need to much brainpower for that. Reading literature is maybe a bit harder, but the weed actually helps me focus better I feel like (I probably have ADD but never bothered to get tested for it), which sort of makes up for the temporary decrease in intelligence.
Anyways, as I said I acknowledge weed has some negative effects on me, and I would academically be better off without it, but at the same time I feel like I can afford to smoke it since it is one of my few vices and I keep achieving my goals.

was a regular smoker, had lots of stoner friends, people called frequently wanted to hang out, graduated college, quit smoking, never hear from any of them except one or two. those people arent your friends they just want to get stoned.

Attached: 1555964983243.gif (300x375, 1.77M)

I lost my weed friends when I quit weed and it can't imagine a better thing

There’s also the fact that traditionally medical marijuana recorded in history wasn’t the weed we have today. It was higher cbd way lower thc, and now that’s reversed. Potheads are some of the biggest copers in the world, and I mean those that you described who can’t quit despite claiming such. The daily stoners. All the ones I know are in dead end jobs (in our 20s) and are almost all slowly but surely getting fat.

I was judged pretty hard by one group of “friends”, they all basically said I was an addict and called me addict boy behind my back (I’m almost certain it was a cope to feel better about themselves). A year later I smoke maybe 3 times a year max and I’m about to start a real career in the next few months, meanwhile they’re all clinging to this habit, it’s what their life revolves around. Work their minimum wage jobs, come home get high and sit around, do it all over. They’re going nowhere. Don’t get wrong, there are people who can smoke everyday and be extremely successful, but they are rare. Most people are not like that. OP, my point is that you may need to cut some people out of your life, or distance yourself from them. If all they do is get high then make new friends as hard as it can be as an adult. Even if you go a year friendless and bored/lonely it’s worth it. You’ve identified it’s a problem for you, do what you need to do. It was easy for me because the people I was hanging out with were kinda shitty, but now a year later and I’m losing weight/getting fit again, starting a career and hoping to move out in another 6 months. They’re all in the same place they’ve been since graduating highschool 6 years ago

Weed is gains goblin in my case. I was way dumber and made lots of bad decisions during times when I was high. Smoked pot 2006-2016.

I agree with you user.

Good job user!

Fuck why do weed men take so long to respond I just wanna cop my 8th already

youre probably a schizo

That’s how I used to be and now I always get all anxious and paranoid. I fucking miss that chill stoney spaced out feeling where you’re just super relaxed but high. Now I just get super in my head and occupied with my thoughts and what’s going on around me

You made the right path/decisions user. You'll find more worthwhile wholesome friends elsewhere. Just stay away from those with destructive vices.

It's so easy to quit. I do smoke regularly but there are stretches of months where I just have no urges to smoke whatsoever and just stop cold turkey. Going back a few months later when I smoke again it feels like the first time again. Whoever says that they can't sleep without it are probably very mentally weak.

So true.

develop asthma
also
>find a new hobby to fill the time like an instrument or join a local club that meets regularly
>find a support group in real life or online
>start a journal to get your thoughts on paper
good luck user take it one day at a time.

they don't understand the concept of a job or see that you are trying to give them money

>Whoever says that they can't sleep without it are probably very mentally weak
na I had trouble sleeping beforehand anyway, problem was I just got used to using weed/booze/benzos to get to sleep

if weed is a problem for you you're a retard. If every friendship you have is based on smoking weed, then your "friends" are losers and so are you. They're not actual "friends" they're smoking buddies. Just like drinking buddies, they're fun to have a good time with, but will not held you in the bad times like a real friend will.

Real friends will get off their ass if you need a favor. Real friends will help you move, not only if you ask, but you won't have to ask, they will offer. A real friend will pick you up from the airport.

Don't confuse good time buddies with friends. they will only let you down. And don't keep smoking weed just so you have the company of buddies. They're not worth your time.

This.

If you only do something because your "friends" do it you're a fucking loser, an empty husk of a man.

>thinking THC causes brain damage

fucking 1940 kek

I don't drink, smoke weed, do coke, or even drink coffee anymore.

To keep myself out of depression i take a half gram of green kratom once or up to three times a day. I take one week off every month. I don't even crave those other things anymore. Kratom is better than any antidepressant I've even been on. I'm stable, less bitchy and much more productive.

Some days suck but I just deal with it. booze and drugs are a trap of life. Kratom can be too if you abuse it, but when you find your dose it's really helpful, and basically has no side effects. Been taking it for 4 years, and just a total health exam with blood tests and everything and I'm completely healthy.

Básed

this was a really important thing to distinction for me and funnily enough i learned it from a pothead, no not like that you stoners he fucking disappeared with a load of my money so he could buy more weed. that taught me a lot of things actually.

it came out this year

a really important distinction

You still need the help of a product to induce a dopamine high. Shit it's even compared to morphine. Don't get me wrong if you were consuming coke, weed and alcohol I think it is a solution but your ultimate goal should be that you don't need anything at all.

This user gets it. You don't have to be scared to loose these people because they won't be a huge loss anyway.

just curious, why was it a problem for you?

They feel special that they have something you are trying to buy. Fucking useless pieces of shit. They are gonna be obsolete soon

Seriously, my state will more than likely get recreational next year. When that happens I’m growing my own plants. Will probably actually barely use them and mostly just play with genetics actually. If anything I’ll become the weed man

Remove it from your life completely. The easiest way to slip up is when your around other people who are smoking and when you are bored and have nothing to do. Drop all your old friends who smoke at least for the time it takes you to quit. To break the mental addiction I've found it's time + breaking the association between smoking and having fun. Pursue another interest or hobby.

>Be me
>Smoke occasionally but don't have my own plug so I just bum it off other people at events
>Find a plug, start smoking nearly every day for a month straight
>Realize I'm becoming a stoner; it's not effecting my life, but I don't like not being in control
>Put everything in my underwear drawer one night and swear not to touch it for three months to prove I'm in control

I'm two months in and I don't really even have cravings.

I smoked pretty much every day during the school year, but now that I'm back home, its just not as appealing. I threw out my vape, and have weed at home, it's just not fun to always be disoriented. People bitch about it being so hard to quit, but thats because they go cold turkey and try to never allow themselves to indulge, but that's what leads to failure. Smoking once in a while won't kill you.

Stop smoking sativa and smoke indica instead. If you still face the same problems weed is absolutely not for you.

I'm a law student and I used to smoke fairly regularly. It didn't hamper my academics at all.

Not him I’m but I just got indica today to test it out after only getting Sativa for the last year. Same thing. Still getting paranoid. Can’t even stand to be around people I’m so anxious.

Have you tried, especially after a heavy smoking habit? I guarantee you'll suffer insomnia, restlessness, and irritability.

I’ve never even smoked the devil’s weed. I don’t think nose hits count. Is it legit addictive or does it just depend on the person?

Attached: E63794CC-38A0-4AF5-B699-04E830FC2FB7.png (567x474, 294K)

how the fuck do you get addicted to weed? there aren't even any withdrawal symptoms

Not him but I found the insomnia is a major reason for people not committing to quitting. I had to abuse melatonin for a few weeks myself

The only thing that is meant to go inside your lungs is air.
Anything that is not air is a health hazard, either long term or short term.

except weed helps with asthma

The last thing I would recommend to you if you still want to try is to just have less of it. Experienced users will often take just 2-3 hits of higher quality stuff and then save the rest for another day. I've experienced paranoia as well in the past and this has helped me. Another way to help is to make sure that you are in a safe and secluded area, and also that you have nothing to worry about in the first place. You should also be in good mental condition. If you don't want to try and fill these criteria though I understand, weed is not for everyone.

You can form a psychological dependency on weed if you are not smart about how and when you use it. But it is not physically addictive. You can form a psychological dependency on anything.

Not really. I haven't been affected by any physical side affects or hormonal imbalances, and it hasn't decreased my quality of life at all, so there's no real reason to stop

Attached: 1456694991840.jpg (459x520, 43K)

Most I have used it was twice a week but not around people..tolerance builds up so its not something good to do alot. It doesn't help with memory and thinking about the future much..if your straight try not to watch to much shemale porn while high and if your using it for jerking off the edibles go over on blood flow and can stretch your penis and arteries to much...Its partly a meth addiction in a way. I don't really consider it to be anything more than medical at the current population numbers. On a wide scale I wouldn't recommended it, it can make people quite hungry.

Larper, Heroin is cheap as fuck

Attached: 1456695950585.jpg.png (373x377, 98K)

I quit 3 months ago. I cut back to 1/8th a gram (like 1-2 hits) a day but I was still getting ripped from it somehow. After 2 months of that, I didn't really miss it after going cold turkey like I normally would. Doing it daily is what sucks. The ritual is addictive if you are predisposed. The consequences aren't that bad. It's like 4$/gram in Oregon. Slightly annoying for cutting. Sleep quality is... different. Slightly less focused, slightly more chill, slightly less stable. Just don't use it to "treat" something like anxiety or depression. It's not some panacea. It's a depressant. inb4 sativa bipolar depressant. If you have stomach issues or something, fine, but keep it to yourself because you sound like a retarded tree worshiper. Don't make that slight idiocy part of your life. People judge you. They're dicks, but they're right.
