I have a home gym so I don't give a shit how gay I look, but fuck hip thrusts. They feel incredibly awkward and unsafe. Deadlifts are more than good enough for me.
I tried it a couple of times, and I just could not get the set up right.
My shoulders kept slipping off the bench I was using, and the bar rested really uncomfortably on my waist.
After a couple failed sets, I just called it quits
It can help assist with a big squat and a deadlift! I do a banded at the hip Romanian DL and lunges for warmup. Its helped me with my knees and lower back from hurting. Feels bretty good desu!

Good accessory exercise for anyone who's playing sport so it strengthens your hips and glutes. Even better when you do it unilaterally to get both legs even for runners/work on imbalance.
I use it for prehab because my shitty old man knees need more glue support.

How much do you hip thrust? They're relatively easy to get good at but you can't also use a huge amount of momentum on the lift so it can seem like a lot of weight when people aren't being very strict

I always use the hip station for my glutes and hammies before squatting 5x5. Do 2pl8 for 3x15. The other day as I finished and was about to take the weights off this qt3.14 told me to leave them on. She used it as her warm up set, kek.

Do machine exercises like leg curl, leg extension, seated calf raises that target specific muscles rather than compound movements that work all your leg muscles.

I actually started doing them recently. I really like them. The burn is crazy, though. Makes it tough to sit for a while.
You do them in addition to deadlifts and squats to make your glutes' power maximum.
Put your body higher on the bench. You actually want the top of the bench just at the bottom of the scapulae. Also use a pad. Probably the only exercise where I'd actually suggest someone use a pad without there being some medical reason specific to the person in question.

I'm still getting used to doing them, so my soreness might just be exaggerated, but god damn. I do sit down between sets just because it's easier to just chill with the bar already in a good spot before starting my next set, but I have to tilt on to my side so my glutes aren't right on the ground. It's a weird experience, but it feels good in the sense that I know it's working. The burn's also way different between my strength-style sets (4x5 with heavier weight) and my hypertrophy sets (4x12 with lighter weight) that I do on different days in my PHUL routine. I think it's a lift valuable enough to do on both days.
Do you do RDL's or use a leg curl machine? Otherwise embrace it and wear tights in the gym so girls can see you.

I do 100kg hip thrusts and it's tough for me when the reps go over 10. I really struggle to finish the sets. Not enough juice in the tank to continue getting the reps in.

Going for reps on anything > 100kg also makes me feel the same.
Still, I find it helps improve glute strength.
