I've had three pretty severe concussions from racing motocross
Probably took about 10 iq points and I'm much more impulsive

Would concussions help me to stop overthinking everything?

1 real bad concussion, 1 decent one, and like 2 solid bumps. I read somewhere that big concussions aren't neccesarily a good indicator of damage as smaller bumps to the head will have a more significant impact over time

We got a whole board of people with brain damage and no fighting experience

No

I'm the guy above you and I haven't had anything like that
Maybe if you get them consistently long term and end up punch drunk

what do you want to know? I've had a permanent headache for 4 years and am still light and noise sensitive with regular migraines

You sound like a vegan.. being a cop has nothing to do with your story and now it's going to derail the thread

Shit you're probably right.

I was injured during a street fight once.
I wasn't diagnosed by the hospital stuff because I wasn't realy examined by them because I live in a shithole country where the understaffed undertrained doctors have such a massive ego from controlling the lives of dying people that they can diagnose you by looking you up and down. No x-rays or CTs needed.

I think it permanently changed me, although some times I feel lucid again. An MRI I did later on came clean but I don't feel the same. AMA if you want.

Is seeing stars normal? Sometimes when I blow my nose or feel dizzy I get it (they look like dots of light)

Post more brain scans

How did you get the injury?

What way has it changed you?

Knew a guy for a few years who did kickboxing, saw him get more and more punch drunk with time. Slow speech, slurred, heavy eyes.

Play rugby for many years. Saw a close friend of mine receive 7 concussions (4 he kept secret as to keep playing.)
He went from an essentially straight A student with a healthy social life to a hermit who rarely leaves his room, can't hold conversations/eye contact, dropped out of school and can't remember stuff.

imagine recieving punches and getting brain damage, for FREE.

This topic is actually where J*e Rogan is unique expert.

I probably have CTE. I work as a software developer, and I'm top of my game. I get dizzy spells now and again. I got jumped by a bunch of niggers.

Got over 20 concussions as a child and I'm afraid of what a scan could reveal

I'm a 90 IQ autist btw

i've also had a permanent headache for two years. got it after i had an immune reaction to probiotics

If it weren't for CTE I'd sign up for boxing right away. What are some martial arts that are relatively CTE proof?

Yeah just think of all the no name never made it fighters who are losing their mind in a basement somewhere. At least the notable sufferers of CTE will go down as legends and lived like kings for a time.

Grappling will fuck your joints and maybe brain if you get chocked too many times.
Wrestling will destroy your body and brain but such is the price of following the Ancient Olympian Path

Wrestling or judo probably

where are you from? Did you do a CT scan? It can detect things that the MRI can't. What do you experience?

Not a fighter but suffered a serious concussion where I lost consciousness for roughly 20 min at age 13, that was about 17 years ago... then more recently was in a series of 5 car accidents where all resulted in minor concussions, then 2 years ago I was cut off on the highway at high speed. I hit a pole apparently and my airbag failed, seat belt saved my life but I ended up with a severe traumatic brain injury as a result and haven't been the same since.

I hate my life now and who I've become. Everything is difficult. I'm irritable all the time I had to drop out of work and school, my personality changed, im depressed, I've experienced seizures, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, I get overwhelmed by crowds and multiple person conversations, I'm full of rage and sadness. I cant connect to anyone anymore, I'm a social pariah. I have wild mood swings manic episodes, trouble motivating myself to do simple things like pay my Bill's or grocery shop, I live with a constant migraine that feels like an Ice pick in my head, and the anxiety is so bad I feel like I'm about to die at any moment. I cant remember anything ever, my house is littered with post it notes.

I miss my old life. I miss the old me. No one wants to be around me, not even my own family and I can't blame them, I dont even want to be around me.

Brain damage is a walking death sentence.

No because I'm actually good

Drugs have atrophied my grey matter quite a bit. Around 4 years total of mostly heroin, some heavy meth use. Its a real phenomenon. You only get so much smarts

sorry to hear bro
have you tried meditation?

Based trips. Tried to overdose on zopiclone 5 years ago, woke up 24 hours later but never told anyone. Now I have trouble word finding, am overly expressive, and can't learn or remember new things as easily as I once used to. It's sad knowing what you don't know.

same bro :( but we Jow Forums now

I think I have some brain damage. It's mostly random short term memory loss, like when I meet a new person and I forget their name almost immediately.

that can be helped
just drill a hole through your nose upwards like pic

Attached: psychosurg52.jpg (528x360, 79K)

Sounds like it
Id see a psych before it gets worse

It's just a sudden blood pressure change in your head. It's normal, train and sleep more.

We're here for you user :)

I know the damage from concussions accumulate, but is that also the case in young childhood? I got like 2 or 3 concussions before I turned 5. Recently gor another one at 24, is it something to be worried about?

>be cringy teenager
>smoke weed for 4-5 years regularly
> take english boxing courses up to 4 times a week for 3 years.
> decide to study after having not done shit for years
> get into a prestigious military school thanks to my parent's connections
> somehow get motivated
> work a lot more than the others
> work 8 hours a day on the weekend when no one does shit
> get little to no results
> get mocked by the others for asking questions
> wonder if I'm ever gonna make it or if I'm just too dumb because of my old habits.
> next year I change school and realize I'm well above the others when I start the year
> just keep on working, no one mocks me now, slowly build confidence over time.
> i've had a competitive exam and did better than most of my class ( well kind of)
I think I just rebooted my brain bros.
If I made it you can make it.

Got slept by a head kick in a sparring session about 3 years ago, I've had tinnitus ever since. It's kinda annoying desu, but reading this thread I guess I've it easy.

Attached: 1560237755357.jpg (750x953, 623K)

seriously reconsidering whether I want to sign up to martial arts classes after reading this thread.

Kek

>change school and realize I'm well above the others
You didn't change your brain, you changed to a brainlet school, where you can shine now

>Any fighters here who have experience with brain damage?
Yup, got the amnesic aphasia and all. Nothing worse yet, but I stopped sparring afterwards. Also know some guys who basically always talk about literally the same shit because they forget they already told you.

You can get CTE from breakfalls, especially in Judo because the tatamis are still pretty hard. Turns out getting slammed on the floor over and over again rattles the kettle. Many pro wrestlers have this problem from hard bumps.

Just don't do hard sparring. The fights aren't the problem, the sparring is, or rather, the American way of sparring (always balls to the wall, all the time, every time - no one else does this).

>tfw 6'5" and keep hitting my head in these fucking hobbit doorways

Attached: 1558589761681.png (289x288, 11K)

same but Adderall solved all of those issues

Attached: 1549683605177s.jpg (250x250, 8K)

I got electrocuted and had similar symptoms, electrical injury will fuck up your brain and I agree, TBI's are hell on earth, chop my left nut and call it a day but dont fuck up my brain. As to how I haven't off'd myself yet is beyond me. I'm saving up for mysenchamal stem cell therapy in Panama. I hope things gradually improve for you user even though I know shit is so slow you basically feel like you're not making any progress.

You have high blood pressure

I'm sorry you're autistic & dumb

Sorry but glad they finally got you off the road you sound like a disaster

I guess you know better than me :). But yes they were on average less smart. But still smart.

None of the accidents were my fault, I was rear ended in every one, except one where I was tboned by someone who failed to stop for an ambulance and ran a stop sign. I didnt recklessly set out to be this way, or bring it upon myself... you dont know what you're talking about :(

Is there a way to get cauliflower ears without damaging your brain? I am a smart boi and need my brain cells for my career. Thanks.

seems like this could be the case from repeated throwing practice day in day out but otoh none of the old judo guys i've met seem punchdrunk

what's a fighting sport that has the least risk of brain injury but is still effective?

mind you im not trying to get exceptionally good so i don't have to go hard. I just want this as a hobby and so that I have basic self defense skills to take down the average man if i have to.

>no one else does this
My British boxing gym does this.

googling this apparently there's been a study which found no brian abnormalities in judokas or ammy boxers compared to pro bocers
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10935832

>what's a fighting sport that has the least risk of brain injury but is still effective?
only grappling shit and even those are risky too
every striking fighting sport will involve blows to the head. No exceptions.

why would you want cauliflower ear?
but it isn't connected to brain damage as such, wrestling or anything else that twists your ears enough to separate the cartilege and allow blood to pool inside will do it

>that typo to topic ratio
kek

>grappling
wrestling literally has the highest rate of head injuries compared to any other sport

Floyd doesn't have CTE, he never gets hit. He was just born stupid

Don't be such a sad sack & go to the gym or do some cardio & get some blood flowing back in ur brain

Twist your ears or rub them against mats, then don't drain them when they swell up. That's how you get cauliflower ears.

Kyokushin karate. No head punches allowed.

Ammies go for punches in bunches instead of power because their gloves are so thick you won't knock anyone out anyways so you try to win by points.

As for Judo, take a few classes, notice you get chronic headaches, then decide if you really want to go down that path.
The thing is that sports Judoka try to cartwheel out of throws so the opponent doesn't get a point, so they rarely get their heads shaken.

Yes. CBD + fish oil helps. At my gym we spar hard every Saturday, usually I feel pretty funny until about Monday. Probably doesn't help that I've had three other bad concussions: two climbing when I fell 30+ feet and shattered my helmet both times, one in whitewater that cracked my helmet from back to front.

This study here says concussions happen "often" in Judo:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4508688/

>Especially, cerebral concussions have often occurred in judo athletes. Pieter estimated the rate of cerebral concussions in young judo athletes as 2.38/1000 male athlete exposure and 2.92/1000 female athlete exposure.11) Furthermore, unfortunately, severe head injuries have often occurred in judo. Neurosurgeons in Japan reported 122 moderate to severe head injuries due to sports managed in an university hospital.3)

Look for new gyms. It's all fun and games when you're young but once you get into your late 30s, it really catches up to you.

Incidentally, I just came back from boxing training and got lit up twice during drills (Happens when the other guy is a puncher). Now I feel all mushy lol.

Bump

and what new ones did it bring?

Cerebral blood flow and EEG values being normal does not mean there are no brain abnormalities. But still interesting.

PSA TO THOSE WITH CTE
You can heal your brain damage friendo, with a combination of these steps!

>High fat Keto diet
The brain is a ball of fatty acid and neurogenesis requires ample supply of building material (dietary fat). Ketosis mean the body is fat-adapted and the brain runs on ketones -- which has been shown to have a neuroprotective effect on brain tissue.

>Mushrooms
Yes, you hear that right, several mushroom types are very potent in causing neurogenisis and have been proven to help heal brain tissue. There are compounds that cross the blood brain barrier and stimulate neuron growth. Look up the strains; lions mane, reshi, cordyceps, psilocyben

>Nicotine
Yes, nicotine is shown to neuroprotective effects, most in preventing age related neuro degredation disorders like dementia

>Aerobic exercise
Gotta keep that blood pumping

>Fasting
Oh great this guy is talking about fasting... But seriously and extended fast of 72hr+ without ANY consumption is shown to promote stem cell proliferation, even in the brain, and increase neuroplasticity. So it just might help you grow some new neurons.

Thank you for listening

I do you assumptive faggot. I go 3 times a week with a kinesiologist friend of mine who keeps me lifting and the other 4 days a week I run 5-10ks.

What the fuck do you do?

do you mean mushrooms the foods or mushrooms the drug?

If you're doing fighting sports where you get hit, taking nootropic supplements which build and repair neurons is an absolute must.
Here's a good stack. You probably won't need anything else.

Lion's Mane Extract - .5-1 teaspoon daily. Realmushrooms is a good brand
Gotu Kola powder - tablespoon daily, recommend Just Jaivik brand
Brahmi - about a teaspoon daily
Sunflower Lecithin - recommended dose on bottle
Basic Vitamin B complex

If you take this shit daily then not only will you heal your brain damage, but you'll become even better at fighting.

Neurogenesis after birth is limited to only the hippocampus and potentially certain areas around the ventricles. Overall a very small portion of the brain. Brain recovery after accidents is more so about either preventing more neurons from dieing right after the accident or rewiring around the damage. For example, ketones were shown to be neuroprotective in rats after TBI but only if the ketones were in the body within the first 24hrs. Days later ketones do nothing as any neurons they could have saved are now already dead.

Also don't get people addicted to nicotine. For every pro there are two cons.

bullshit some things are indelible to the hippocampus

>No one else does this
Go spar a Russian.

nothing that you put in your body will in a meaningful way remedy the debilitating effects on the brain that frequent physical trauma to the head will cause

don't do contact sports that involve trauma to the head unless you're prepared to suffer the potential consequences

preferably don't do them at all

t. almost finished clinical psych

Played college football. My brain is fucked.

I don't know what the fuck it is with Russians and other Eastern Europeans when it comes to sparring. Some Russian college student came into my MT gym and when he got the okay to spar, he started going hard immediately.

Neurogenesis being limited to particular areas does not reduce the importance of taking nootropics after getting brain damage.

I wish I could be a two digit IQ hardworking american farmer and live a happy life instead of being an educated overthinking faggot

The key is to use your intelligence to research supplements which improve your brain chemistry. Best of both worlds.

I have brain damage
Not from fight though

>me
>14 or 15 or 16
>riding bike no helmet
>come up to driveway of large apartments
>look left
>look right
>clear
>advance
>car hit from speed from left
>like slow motion I didn't believe it like in movie
>all left side cold and rubber feel during impact
>hit ground on right side head hit pavement good
>bike messed up body messed up
>Driver drive away
>I can barely see like rainbow dark around eyes
>barely hear sound like underwater
>car pull up full of blacks they say
>"you ok nigga" I nod but I'm not ok
>they drive off
> I limp home in daze body cold barely see

Now sometimes I faint it go blind & deaf for small while but I wake up
Nose broke from bad faint
It's ok we all die sometime I die too

Attached: JPEG_20190211_125708.jpg (496x703, 103K)

nofap as well. semen is literally brain juice

>tinnitus
yeah i have this too
at least it didnt make me any uglier

Me too. Shit sucks.

This happened to me too, you may be suffering from PTSD. For me, LSD and getting into boxing fixed it quite a bit, as did generally taking more risks.
I got a theory on it as well, likely to do with some hierarchy/biology shit.

Speaking of fighting
I'm starting kickboxing in September
I have shit cardio and don't really have any safe roads for roadwork (3rd world)

Is doing 6 rounds of 3 minutes every day/every other day (2 amateur fight times) enough?
Ofc i have experience with lifting so i'm not too weak to fight

ok that sucks nigga

I’ve been kickboxing for 3 years, hard sparing included and have no cognitive problems. I work as an automation engineer.

Work on your defense and guard first, most people get fucked up because they focus on offense too much and get wrecked by well rounded fighters. In truth, any dipshit can throw a barrage of punches/kicks, but only the talented ones know how to nullify an attack and return

100 concussions and you would stop thinking all together

watch the film 'its a beautiful day' .

Im sure it will be very relatable and has themes with dealing with the stuff that you are.

it's such a beautiful day*

>Automation engineer
Lol you mean a QA bitch? IQ is not required for that so dw
