How do you guys cut/style your hair? I've got extremely long unruly hair that looks really disgusting and it pains me when I look at my reflection in the gym mirror, so I'm going to cut it this weekend.

perfect thread. I've had the same haircut for 10 years, 3 on the sides and a little long on the top. I'm sick of it, I hate asking for it because it almost comes out different everytime. I'd do fades but I'm not a fan of how naked the back of my head feels for the first ~2 weeks so I mostly go for tapers. but also find a high ranked barber instead of getting a $8 haircut.

towel dry my hair then blow dry the top till I get the general shape I like. then warm-up some pHenomenal gel with my hands and comb over thru my hair real quick. usually takes 10-20 minutes.
>special occasions (drinking, party, etc)
towel dry then quick blow dry (~30 secs) till I get the crown shape then warm-up both some paste/gel and comb over my hair with a thin and thick comb then my hands. then some gel to fashion a small bang or two to the side. takes like 30-45 mins.
it usually all keeps shape the next day too if you don't shower which is nice.

because it's a relatively risk-free cut. easy to trim, easy to maintain.
if you're not uber-maxxed out, you don't have much options. and buzzcut only works if you have the right head shape for it or else you end up looking like a shitty melon.

Never been to a barber. I've considered it but I don't know how it works, it's not like I want a haircut.
Also haven't got shit about it for years so I'm not even sure if short hair is that mandatory for men. Tho one pussyslaying friend is still adamant that women hate long haired men. I wonder if there's research on it.
