whats a good poor mans ruck marching setup? it will need to carry 100 pounds. I dont have much money to get a vest and plates like my friend has.

Any hiking back pack, just make sure i has a waist strap
You will destroy your knees. You cannot do that kind of exercise without an eventual cost.
Why would you want to ruck for fun, or even a work out? It basically takes all the shit parts of backpacking and amplifies them, and also destroys your knees just for kicks.
If you really insist though, pretty much any hiking backpack will do, although obviously the cheaper ones will be less comfortable and probably be less effective at weight distribution.
its what they do at the schools for EOD so i figured i should prepare
Anything with a metal frame, not some plastic shit.
and is there any cheap weights?
also and brand of bag that you would recommend?
This faggot is wrong, normal hiking backpacks are not designed to carry that kind of weight. If you don't have enough money to buy a vest you can't afford the backpacks that'll carry that weight. Buy a frame, tie shit to it, simple as that.
Go over to Jow Forums.
isnt that weapons? how will that help me?
They are really into milsurp
ill go repost it over there i guess
I was in special operations for 6 years and now I can barely go a day without getting some kind of spasm in my back or hips. Shit locks up at weird times. Or I get shooting pain from normal tasks. I stretched, did mobility, lifted responsibly and I'm still wracked with pain. I'm still in my 20s and feel 2 decades older. Think very carefully if you really want to do this type of shit.
what SF did you do?
Wrap like 20 packs of tin foil on your arms and legs
Attached to Army SF as a non-SF qualified dude. Carried heavy ass radios amongst other shit.
you dont think i tried that? the aliens saw right through it.
So you weren’t “in special operations”
Jesus fuck every time this happens. I don't need to claim big dick status on a fucking anime website. I was ranger tabbed and slotted in the MI detachment of a special forces group. As in under USASFC which is under USASOC. You're gay.
Good for you and not that guy but unless you're slinging big dick and carrying big balls as a soldier nobody gives a fuck about you being in SF. You looked at maps and were a human donkey.
service is service you did your part.
appreciate it
>tabbed
But not scrolled lel
SF is noted as carrying huge rucks for long distances. 90lbs for 18 miles was a a shitty friday but not out of the norm. That is why I stated it.
Fill jugs of water/water bottles. Try to keep the weight as high up on the pack as possible.
Plus when you eventually puss out you can just dump the water and walk back in shame.
no shame walks for this guy i lost 60 pounds just to join quitting is for wussies
/thread
>dont ask how i know
Well you can put rocks and pebbles in you backpack.
90lbs for 18 miles is literally nothing. Combat loads for regular infantry were 120-150 range and we did 25+ mile walks through the mountains regularly.
I'm not saying you didn't do your job well or that your job wasn't hard, I'm saying that unless you're the guy who gets dropped off in the middle of nowhere to go and fuck shit up then nobody wants to hear "I was in SF." Just say you worked with them.
I gave you the same damn advice last time you asked, just buy a cheap external frame pack off amazon, and learn the proper way to wear it. The waist strap should be ON your hip bone, and the should straps should be tight, but not weight bearing. keep all the weight as close to the center of the pack, and as close to your back as possible.
Jesus fucking christ I hate other veterans so much. I've done 2 week patrols that covered half a fucking province with 130 starting out. Go yank your blue cord where someone cares.

Seems like an Army advert that tempts me with the possibility of deploying and going into the field to kick ass but I'd instead by placed in camp to listen to a radio. What wack language did you have to learn?
Maybe you shouldn’t start out your story with “yeah I was in special operations” retard Faggot
But I was in special operations you inbred cumlick.
A lot of it is extremely boring. Preparing briefs, learning the obtuse technologies that you need to understand to accomplish the mission. But I've also gotten to do a lot of amazing shit. Plainclothes stuff, sweet TDYs etc.
>it will need to carry 100 pounds.
Please don't, even if you are trying out for ANY SOF selection or even fucking Ranger School. The max you should go for even if you're trying cool guy shit should be 60 pounds, but that's after you gotten used to 35-45 pounds. When vets claim they carried around 150 pounds is because that includes everything from their ruck, plate carrier, ammo, helmet and weapon; aka not just the ruck.
If you're rucking just for shits and giggles. Please don't, it fucks up your knees badly and has barely any transition into the civilian world.
Alright thanks, im was hearing that they were doing 80 pound rucks and i wanted to go the extra bit
Radiomen, SF selection, and cases like that will go up that high. Recon or retrans or OPs can get over 120 in the ruck. But that's as far away for you as the moon right now. It's like a noodle walking into a gym trying to bench 600. You'll understand once you start doing it.
Did you change your socks?
You had to know that was gonna happen, dude.
You’ll do it in school because you’ll be carrying some piece of equipment or another and you’ll also likely do it while performing some other fuck-fuck task. Leave that for when it happens. Git gud on every kind of squat, lunge and carry you can innagym and try to hit the “angry cartoon character” walk (sub 15min/mi pace) when you’re tromping around with a big backpack on.
>Did you change your socks?
Is this the equivalent of
>Did you turn it off and on again?
Also what did you do as a bullet sponge for ZOG
