Does Jow Forums swim?

Too fat, and I don't want to ruin my hair. I will when I get fit and buy a swim cap.
Jow Forumslet here and former miscerw who ventured over here just now. I Masters swim 3 days a week 1.5 hour sessions
It’s fucking brutal, but it’s the best antidepressant I can get. If I didn’t do it I would have suicided a while ago
literally shower before and after diving in and you'll be fine. caps dont stop from water entering anyway.
Too thin, and I don't want to ruin my bald shine. I will when I get fit and buy a swim cap.
Now kiss.
I don’t
I swim 1 km every day during the workweek and 1 mile on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm really looking for a private coach I can get some lessons from to really get good. Right now I kind of just brute force my way through the drills, but I know I could better my form.
It's good for cardio variety. I do it maybe once a week to mix up my 3 days of cardio per week, which is usually just running. If I'm feeling particularly achy or sore I'll do it to take it easy on my joints. So I treat it as a recovery day/easy cardio day. All I do is an easy breast stroke for about 30-40 minutes though. I might do a front crawl if I feel like I need my heart pumping a little more though.

Yes they do
T. Used one in highschool for swim unit because I'm black and didn't want to ruin my hair
Too fat and self conscious to take off my shirt.
Even if I have my own private pool, my parents will still bully me.
>black
>didn't want to ruin hair
Supreme bait
Yea, i went swimming earlier today in a river. It's like a swimming treadmill. Just pray you don't step on a fish hook.
Is swimming in open water generally cleaner or dirtier than an indoor public pool?
I typically try to swim around 11 am before the kids show up and take over in the afternoon.
Waiting for swimming lessons to start up so I can learn real technique since it's been a decade since I last swam.
some caps are latex, some are mesh nylon
Same here. Do it once a week on rest day, just make 1000m alternating between freestyle and breast stroke.
Public pools are disgusting, even if cleaned frequently(which they are not). If you have no other option, use it and then go shower immediately. And do NOT let it in your mouth when swimming.
swam varsity back in high school.... yep, those were the days.
The caps arent exactly made for protecting your head from clore, tho. They exist so you dont polute the pool with your falling hair.
I make sure to shower before and after with an anti chlorine soap and a bit of mouth wash. Not sure if that's overkill. Not many people swim in the morning though, so assuming the pool closes at 10 pm with the gym, it's been reacting for at least 12 hours to try and eliminate any bacteria.
I took an environmental engineering class in college focusing on water safety and pollutant concentrations and it turned out the professor teaching the class had been quoted on multiple news reports talking about the levels of urine in public pools.
The rivers near me all run along highways or through gaint cities, they're admittedly probably very dirty. If not with straight up poisonous shit, it's just dirty things like litter. Just do your research and hope you're up stream.
checked
i want to swim but i need to gain muscle and im afraid if i swim in conjunction with lifting i'll be burning more calories than i consume. do you guys have any tips how to optimize swimming so it's more of a supplement to gaining muscle rather than a cardio thing?
Just eat more then jesus christ
My gym has a small 25m, 3 lane lap pool. There is no open swim area, but there is a hot tub in the room of the pool.
I am so sick of seeing these fucking boomers and fatties soak in the literal piss soup hot tub for 15 minutes and then stand up and get into the lap pool and splash around for 3 minutes before leaving. They aren't doing laps or anything. They haven't showered. All they are doing is contaminating the water.
ok thanks fren
I did that last year and have no regrets. It was pretty fun and I feel way more confident in the water. The shitty thing was my city only did two week cohorts at a time so if I wanted to learn butterfly I would have had to cough up the dough for another two weeks.
Either way, I do not regret.
I've been thinking of investing in a private coach since I really need finer input on my form. Is this anything that group swim lessons are helpful for? Holy shit I sound like a retard when I try to type.
I've never actually counted the distance because the pool I swim in isn't a standard size. I just swim for time, so I have no idea how far I swim in that time.
Now I really want to know how far I swim with my slow ass, old man breast stroke.
