>is stretching bullshit or not
Who knows
I went to a yoga class with a female instructor and a bunch of girls and thought I would mog the shit out of them with my poses but for some reason I couldn't hold half the positions they could for half as long as they could, even though I could easily deadlift any two people in that room combined for reps. I also had pretty intense DOMS the next day. I would say its the same feeling you get after you play a sport for the first time in a while, so if you don't play a sport and want easy mires from girls in yoga pants it's probs a good idea.
The more advanced postures are really nice workout, unreal stretch capacity if you keep on it and the meditación parte if you can pull it offcorrectly, it relaxes you, helps you sleep better, etc. Burn fat faster. It can really make you find another way of seeing life in general. It's a tough physical and mental discipline. You should read about hatha yoga.
the "yoga" you do in any western country is a bullshit, corporateized, bastardized version of ancient Indian practices
Explain to me how you thought being stronger would make you more flexible.
because he's stupid
the trouble is its like a loop becuase its the same shit the do in india, when the practices reached the west and the moves where adapted they were adopted back in india aswell so ye
Being a Yogi is a mindset. Practicing yoga can be for anyone from soccer moms to monks. Just because you can hold an asana for 30 seconds doesn't make you a Yogi.
The practice of yoga can better your mind and body, but if you're looking for gains, there might be better ways (depending on your body and the sought after gains.)
Mad respect though if you do a Vin class everyday. Long story short- certain types of yoga are more exercise, certain types are more mental.
Quick followup, check out Kino MacGregor for legit Yoga info.
Okay edgelord.
Yoga is pretty legit. Your body can do shit that was impossible before within a few months. You wont get shredded no matter how much yoga you do, but it does push your body's limit.
Yoga is total pseudoscience, as spouted by people like Avoid it like the plague and save your money.
well that guy you mentioned is a faggot, but it was developed by people who 3000 year ago would sit in a cave for hours upon hours so it was just a method to keep the body from become stiff and reason to move the body to help circulation
Just go to mire qt3.14 futpucci like in pic

>It's old therefore it's good.
Avoid people like this too, they will have you believing anything as long as it's old and mystical.
i didnt say that, i just told you what it was used for, so maybe stop being such a retard and maybe just maybe read a book
And then they get angry and defensive when you challenge them.
See what I mean? Avoid!
Yoga is broad, I can't imagine that every asana is good for you. Some might not good for certain nerves, joints, etc.
But overall yoga increases your bodily awareness, combined with mindfulness it's a powerful practice. The spiritual traditions around yoga are rich and interesting and influenced a great amount of people.
shut up
>yoga is total pseudoscience
yoga isn't easily defined, there are many traditions, asanas and breathing techniques. Some stuff you might consider 'pseudoscience' and some definitely beneficial for your body and cognition.
You're saying that yoga is pseudoscience as a whole, which is really intellectually lazy and hopefully just a shit post. Anyway you should activate your chakras and your third eye is closed, stupid NPC.
It worked for my phimosis
the mysticism is a larp
it's basically a bunch of european stretching exercises which were branded as ancient Indian shit by some kike from Iowa that started a sex cult in the 1920s
the poos buy into the bullshit because "superpower by 2020" and they like perving at white women posing in thin pants
>ancient Indian
yeah, fuck off
Don't you mean
R U N E N G Y M N A S T I K ?
It's not intellectually lazy to tell people the truth.
Go away fraudster, you're as bad as the psychics.
I feel like Jow Forums always chimping out on yoga tells more about Jow Forums itself. Probably has something to do with yoga popularity among women.
Jow Forums isn't openly trying to deceive people like yoga shills do.
Jow Forums doesn't like yoga because Jow Forums is fat and stiff. the average poster here would fucking die during a beginning vinyasa class. there's no magic in yoga but it's good exercise
You're insufferable and a faggot. Ann Hiro as fast as you can
my high kicks go a lot higher when I also do some yoga.
Yoga is just stretching
Its not exercise
It doesnt burn any more energy than walking around your block
do mainly women do it?
its dumb
Lol you know nothing. It works just like other practices by opening you up but there are other factors. I'd actually advice being cautious about it because once Kundalini gets into picture, you have less say about how things unfold.
but I just want hot yogapants to look at me
Essentially quality stretching. Will give you mad flexibility gains, but any ideology around it is pretty meh at best.
anyone got any links to some good resources for starting yoga? seems like the kind of topic where a simple google search is going to bring up a bunch of fucking useless clickbait garbage
>It's old therefore it's good.
this is actually true though
You can try Light on Yoga by Iyengar. If you don't want to deal with yoga philosophy you might as well go to pilates class, same exercises without any spiritual stuff.
thanks for the recommendation, i'll check it out. yoga philosophy doesn't bother me, i don't mind trudging through it to learn something
It's mental gains far outweigh the physical flexibility improvements. It takes a level of presence to hold the poses that can only be achieved with mindfulness. Meditation + yoga = God mode.
lift weights

idgaf about yoga philosophy, if that works for others good for them. i know what i want out of it and it isn't spirituality lol
>SSGOMAD
>SSGOMAD
>SSGOMAD
haha ok retard
watch it there bucko
And that's a good thing, the traditional hindi spiritual shit will fuck you up. You're better off with the bastardized streches.
Maybe he thought being able to squat ATG was peak flexibility?
>flexibility and balance is pseudoscience
I tried yoga for mobility for a while but I didn't see any results from it.
Funnily though some time after that I started doing olympic weightlifting and that made me so much more mobile.
Any advice on basic exercise to feel some unique effect from it? i've done some basics but it was always me trying being flexible and failing at it. I have also shit tier balancing so i fall from all kinds of poses. I just want to feel some sort of relaxation or tranquility that comes from specific stretching or breathing or mindset, something to focus on.
I'm already flexible but that's not the point. Flexibility wasn't the issue, I was probably one of the more flexible people there, but for some reason holding the poses seemed harder for me than it was for girls. Downward dog made my shoulders burn like crazy and my arms shake but everyone else seemed fine, and it was like that for most of the poses. I just thought because I was a Jow Forums male I could outdo a bunch of yoga thots but it was harder than I thought. It might be because I weigh more, I don't know.
sounds like you're not very flexible

Sounds like your ligaments are fucked already, the yoga just made you realize it
Yoga is an awesome component to a lifelong, sustainable fitness lifestyle.
>find a free class, so you don't have a bad attitude about the expense
>go with a friend, so you can smirk at yourself when you invariably find your failure points
>do the mindfulness/breathing stuff--or don't! I tried it at first, but I couldn't get into it. Now I just go to stretch, relax, and meet new people.
My routine is:
Sunday: Long, slow distance run or swim
Monday: Lift (back/bis)
Tuesday: HIIT row or run
Wednesday: Lift (chest/tris)
Thursday: Pace or fartlek run or cycle
Friday: Rest day
Saturday: Yoga, rest
My plan is to stay active and injury-free forever.
You're late, manlet bot.
when the OG p90x came out i torrented it off limewire. the yoga x video was 1.5 hours long and a genuinely nice aerobic/stretching workout you could do basically every day to keep you flexible. it was also broken into 45 minute segments you could choose to do half which was flexibility and the other half strength poses. after only a couple weeks i could put my palms on the floor and i was never really flexible before that.
stretching is very important, but that's all yoga does
No its not. Tradition has no inherent value. Most tradition is stupid and bad.
Tradition can be based, I'm pretty sure population genetics play a role though. It can of course be cringe.
seeing alexander skarsgård transformation made me lose my doubt about yoga and the way he explained yoga from his personal experience and how he thought its an essential complementary addition to building muscle.
youre probably going to have better recovery if you include yoga in your training regiment.
Nice feet.
Go away, kike
based. id be distracted by all the pretty girl feet in yoga class, for it to be effective
Did yoga for awhile because I had tricep tendonitis, shit only made it worse
I'd say it's not really worth the effort if you are somewhat strong already. You can stretch without yoga too. As for the mental aspect I couldn't get into it at all, really depends on your personality.
I like it.
T E L L M E M O R E !
It's not.

Lower muscle tonus. Chronic lifting, for better or worse, creates more overall tension in the muscles. So you're holding the poses but your muscles are still firing to stabilize you (larger size) and hold you up (more weight). The girls are prob more relaxed, so it's easier for them.
You are not the only one who feels like yoga is "overrated."
There is some research that says the vast majority of people who exercise don't even play sports, and they should really just stop doing yoga and go do more exercises for a while because it is really not all that bad. Most people have to admit that yoga does a lot of awesome (in my opinion) for you too that might not even be appreciated unless you do it a lot.
women are more flexible to the extent of yoga not being much of challenge for them unless they're fat
yoga was invented in the '50s lad
what type of yoga did he do?
got a link to where he talks about this?
>implying judaism and judaism-on-a-stick aren't both garbage
>tfw shitskin pajeet
>tfw could of been a yogi
>started a yoga cult with white girl followers to fuck at my whim
