I got addicted to working out at a point when it was literally the only choice other than sitting alone in my depressed room, and now I've got options, but it remains the only thing I can count on.

It's not a cop out when it's the truth.
You have to work until you see a difference, the moment you see that clear difference you'll be hooked. If you want to see that difference, you need to eat 1.5 grams of protein per lbs of body weight per day, you need to workout at least 6 out of 7 days a week, 2 of which are legs days. You must eat no more than 300 calories exceeding your current daily caloric expenditure per day. You have to also factor in calories burned through exercise (1hr in the gym = 700 calories). Do this for 6 months and you will see a guaranteed difference no matter what you currently are. For exercise make sure to do at least one of the big 4 movements per session: OHP, deadlift, squat, and bench press. Plus, there's nothing wrong with anime unless it's Naruto, Pokemon, or some other childish show. Baki, Jjba 1-3, and Berserk are Jow Forums af and good goals to set when you get into fitness.

Just focus on eating healthy first. Even if you never go to the gym, eating healthy will make your life better and you will be in a better frame of mind to approach the gym question.
You get used to it, and once you are in good shape your day to day decisions show up pretty directly on your physique. Excessive carbs give you bloating, skipping out on training makes you look flatter and feel weaker, too much sugar or shitty fast food gives you pimples etc. Working out and eating right becomes like showering or brushing your teeth, you know you have to do it to look good and feel good
