Who waits until their 27 to get fit?
Don't listen to faggot OP and his bucket crab mentality. It's never too late to better yourself.

lets see what the kind of person who would make a thread like this looks like. Remember your timestamp :^)
Reminder that if you're over 7 years old, you won't get fit as fuck, maybe leaner and somewhat muscular but that's it

I'm 29 and I've made the most gains this past year
It’s only ever too late when you’re on your deathbed.
>should have started in your 20s

>do I want to be a happy fat gook with a family or a lonely fit gook with his weights?

I can guarantee you OP is a shitposter.
Oh my god fuck off OP you utter faggot, you lazy retard. I would rape you if I didnt think that I'd lose IQ points from your aura. That's such a retarded and flat wrong point you buffoon. Saged and cringed.
Jokes on you I'm on tbol

Quick question from /ck/. I played sports all through grade school (soccer, basketball, wrestling, weight lifting, cross-country running, long-distance track), then more kickboxing and weightlifting as an adult. At my peak wrestling and kickboxing, I was competing at 6'1", 185 lbs.
I cook for a living and eat like a motherfucker. Over 40 now and quit exercising years ago. I've gotten skinny fat. Any tips on toning back up? Not interested in being Schwartzenegger, and I don't need to run 5Ks in under 20 on rough terrain anymore. Never had a weight problem in my life, just want to wear off some fat and get my pecs, traps, and calfs back.
Suggestions/ advice on the best way to do this?
OP is objectively wrong by all scientific measures. Peak human strength occurs in the 25-35 year range.
So is this an advice or do you just want to bring people down to your level OP. Shoulda coulda attitude doesn't take you anywhere, now go fap away to your "lifting" anime
Not a Jow Forumsizen by any stretch, I'm the dude from , but everything I know about getting in shape tells me OP is at least on the right track. If your parents aren't getting you into sports and real food from elementary school up, you're going to have a hard fucking time hitting that peak strength. Starting with decent exercise and food as a child gives you a massive advantage as an adult.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
The second best time is now.
kek
I started at 26 and I'm 29 now.
No one is able to mog me in my gym.
Every single zoomer looks like a little twink compared to me.
I can outrun them all
>these endless Jow Forums incel defeatism threads
Reminder that even a guy who starts lifting at 40 is going to look better than your fat retarded ass.
Started lifting at 27, currently 29, gonna mog 99.9% of the population by the time I hit 30. Being 6'4'' slightly helps though.
It's never too late brehs.
This.
this too
>not wanting to be a lonely fit gook, selling your semen to rich single mothers and marrying a robot wife
So help me out here man. My background/ goals are here . I know my basic regimen was curls, flies, bench press, crunches, squats, running, and frog jumps. Any tips/ advice/ new info in the past ten years or so?
this is objectively false you Jow Forums tranny
If you've been inactive for several years you have the opportunity to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. This involves eating at a slight caloric deficit (500-700) over a longer period of time, while also getting good amounts of protein (100-150g). Lift weights three times a week, do some cardio here and there as you please, that'll suffice the first few months. Make sure to have a good sleep schedule and get your stress levels in check. Food is the number one thing you have to focus on getting in check above all else.
As to how you should lift, that depends on what your goals are (aesthetics, size, strength, health) and how experienced you were with weightlifting in the past. Newbies should start with a basic full body barbell program like starting strength or stronglifts, you might have to do this for a little while as well to regain some strength and technique as you've been out of the game for so long. It doesn't make for a good looking physique though in my opinion, so if that's your goal you shouldn't stay on it for long. Transition to something that aligns with your goals, personally I favor a PPL program as it has a decent balance between aesthetics and strength. Legs respond much quicker than your upper body to exercise, so if you work them in equal amounts you'll get the classic powerlifter physique. A 2:1 ratio of upper and lower body on the other hand will give you a well developed upper body while also not having chicken legs.
>thinking you need to look like some roided monster to be happy
its not too late to dig yourself out of this hole
Alright man, thanks, this sounds like legit basics. I don't eat a lot of junk food (fast food maybe once/ month or less), I cook for myself at work and home. My meals are usually a protein, a vegetable, and a starch, breakfasts are ham, eggs, and toast. Sounds like cutting back on drinking some will be the biggest thing for cutting calories, and of course, there's no excuse but to do the fucking work, pick up some iron, and get to it. I already know that the hard way. Thanks again man, just needed to check you guys out to reignite my motivation. I'll stick around and lurk more, see what I can pick up.
Oh, and as far as aesthetics go, I have the weirdest fucking body type. When I was a kid, I wanted the jacked-up arms to flex on girls more than anything else. I started lifting in addition to sports, with a focus on biceps and triceps.
In the span of maybe 4-6 months, my chest was jacked. My traps were jacked. None of my shirts fit right anymore, I had to buy bigger shirts. Forearms strong as fuck. Legs were already jacked from running and wrestling. Arms were a fucking nope. Triceps got good definition, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get those monster arms I wanted.
Don't get me wrong, I got girls, so I looked good enough, but to me, it was like Popeye the fucking Sailor Man. Any idea what that's about? I'm okay with it now, we're not all made to be Brock Lesnar, but that always seemed weird that even with a heavy, intense bicep-focused workout, everything got big but the arms.
... y-yeah haha
>You should have started exercising at your early 20s
good thing I did, actually started at 15 then took a bit of a break between 18 and 21 or so and got back into it.
To get big arms you need to work all three heads of the triceps, both heads of the biceps as well brachialis which is located inbetween them on the outside of your arm. Depending on which exercises you used you might have missed some of them.
Heavy weighted chin-ups are also recommended for bicep gains.

Reminder that the vast majority of Jow Forums don't actually do any type of exercise.
This sounds true, even though I'm new here. The vast majority of /ck/ has never worked in a restaurant, and doesn't even cook at home.
Being brutally honest, all exercise past high school/college is pure cope
Sure, you can maybe improve your body & performance, but you’ll never have the same determination and intensity as somebody who devoted their life to wrestling, football, etc
That goes for other stuff, too, like building god-like hand-eye coordination in your formative years which I argue is probably more important than anything else
It’s fine that you want to get into shape OP but just keep in mind that you will be exposed if you ever decide to step up to a game of catch or something
No, you practice sports and compete when you are young. When you reach your 30s you start going to the gym, you don't skip the line into the losers temple like that.
>Being brutally honest
You are not brutally honest you are just wrong and showing us that you don't understand what you are talking about. lol
How am I wrong exactly?
Sure, looking good is nice but nothing is more humiliating than being jacked but you can’t even catch a football
On the other hand, I see tons of out of shape guys with insane hand-eye coordination who absolutely dominate gymbros at sports
You don’t think those guys could easily get back in shape if they wanted to?
user, there is no adult sports
There is the gym to keep in shape and keep healthy and that's it.
What in the fuck do you get out of pushing your utterly retarded ideals anyway.
Don't get fit and keep in shape because you can only do that as a highschool/college athlete or something?
Stop being a bitch.
>Sure, looking good is nice but nothing is more humiliating than being jacked but you can’t even catch a football
imagine being this fucking retarded
I saw this picture and got very sad on my 27th birthday.
I started at 16 because my uncle took me to the gym.
Function>Aesthetics
Thank you guys.
I just started at 29 being very serious with diet and regimented with lifting. I'm down from 290 to 250ish. In the back of my head I was worried I'm too old to look great if i really keep up with it going forward.
I feel better now. Thank you
I was busy selling drugs and fucking hot hb10s. Getting fit is something to do when you're old and need to fill up time. Youth should be spent on having fun, not worrying about how your body looks.
reminder that if you didnt 1/2/3/4 in your mothers womb you'll never make it
37 and fat
If I get to a dyel lanklet I'll be happy
Function comes from practice.
A fit healthy body can practice for longer and better then an unhealthy body.
What are you getting at
Started at 29, right is 32
Nothing impressive, but bettering yourself is not something to discourage
keep going
33 starting out recently. Any chance to make it?
Good job man, your before had you looking like a basedboy cuck and after really compliments your scars. Are those stabbing scars?
>Not using the time on your bed to benchpress and break one last PR before death
Never gonna make it.
Thanks buddy. You're an inspiration man. I'm not gonna stop now!
mirin the fuck out of that user. give us the basics
>routine (especially how many days/week)
>diet
lol no, this is ridiculous nonsense. Having done both, if you were just a stoner drug dealer in high school and didn't exercise or study or do anything but that, you're gonna hit the wall hard in your late twenties/ early thirties. Seen it a bunch of times. I've never seen a serious drug dealer (like, hard drugs, coke & heroin) that didn't work out before, start working out after. High school/ college pot and psychedelics phase maybe, if you were a motivated person to start with. No background except drugs? Never.
you look fantastic dude keep it up!
Car crash
thanks, nothing fancy really, just (relatively) heav compounds 2-3 times a week, eating high protein and dropping shit foods
Im not saying to never work out or try to get “in shape”, but I just want people to realize the superficial reality behind it
You would have been better off starting sports early, building self-confidence, having great memories to look back on etc
I honestly have to question people who didn’t start being active until their late 20s and ask “what have you done your entire life?”
I inspired my morbidly obese dad to start getting fit at 58. Three years later he’s lost 200 lbs and still works out hard and eats right. It might be harder the older you get but it is not impossible.
Gotta agree with you here bro. Practice makes permanent. If your parents got you into sports and real cooked meals and work ethic when you were a kid, you'll have a massive advantage as an adult over people that didn't. Not to say it can't be done, the internet is full of inspiring before-and-afters to prove it's always worth it, but starting on the right foot will always be an advantage.
You try telling that to the wealthiest people on the planet, while you were playing with balls they were laying down the foundations for their empire. People who spout this rubbish were usually great at sports in school and put everything else to the side, only to realise it should have been a pretty low fucking priority in their education. Sports is a means to get a good education. Sports is a hobby
Look at bezos, a fat dropout who sold books, and now he has all the time in the world to get fit
In highschool building your foundation for future success (unless that success is in sports) >>>>>>>>>> playing sports

Friendly reminder that no matter how bad you feel, no matter how many goals you feel you failed to attain this week, you will never be the pathetic, crab bucket faggot that OP is.

I hate that half the people on this board are here to shit on the people trying to make a positive change in their lives.
You guys are cool.
I started at 32 with zero training. A year later I can deadlift over 500 pounds. Putting restrictions on yourself because of age is bullshit.
Male physical strength actually doesn't take any significant drop until the 60's, and even then if you stay in shape you can be a top quartile man up until your late 70's strength-wise (although aesthetics are hard to keep up after 60).
It's possible you overtrained your upper arms.
And most Jow Forumsommandos are nogunz. Is there any board where the posters actually do what the board's about?
Most Jow Forumsacks are too young to vote
You cant lose fat in some places and not others. Read the sticky itll help alot
I've been lifting weights for years now. Almost 26 and I'm pretty much DYEL.
I fucking hate my life.
Go to your local gym and suck the biggest guys dick. He will give you a vial and then you must inject it into your butt.

I'm starting again at 29. Last few years have been harsh, wish I didn't let exercise be one of the things that slipped
