I do them unweighted when I superset them with hammer curls. I should start doing them weighted again though. I just hate taking off the weight belt every time.

If you are younger than 25, the bones in your chest can get fucked up from dips or decline bench. You can get like shin splints in your sternum because its one of the last bones to develop.

Fuck you nigger I've been here for 10 years and there's literally nothing wrong with weighted dips. You're supposed to balance out shoulders and elbow extension as in every goddamn upper body push.

Weighted dips are literally a staple of the Oly weightlifting Chinese team because they're such a complete upper body exercise.

Just gotta pay attention to body and ensure that joints and tendon development keeps up with muscles.

Here's a logic problem for you...

I started at 195 lbs before getting in shape and cutting.
I would do dips at bodyweight.
I'm now 170lbs and do +45lb weighted dips and dropset to +25lbs weighted dips.

How is +25lb weighted dips at 170lbs fundamentally different than bodyweight dips at 195lb?

Potentially, yeah.

Had this till I got a few mental cues:
1. Don't "overrotate" grip. I keep thumbs out, parallel to bars
2. Chest out/shoulders back. Helps engage serratus, keeping weight off sternum/rib joints
3. Don't go too deep
4. If you so much as feel discomfort in your sternum, stop for the day, revisit form next chest day

If you push through it, you can easily injure yourself to where you need 6 months off of dips.

How would i do this? Hang from a pullup bar with one arm while holding a dumbell in the other?

Had this happen, but at baby weight comparatively. 6 months with absolutely no dips and my sternum was ready to start it up.

Weighted dips increases my bench press 1rm so much more than bench press itself. To me it's worth the risk
