I'm going to get on low dose accutane (20mg, most likely) soon. I can live with dryness and joint pain, but my main concern by far is hair loss. How likely is it that I'm going to lose hair while on it and how likely is it that this will be permanent? A lot of people here advocate for accutane, so surely there's a few here that have been on it? Have you experienced hair loss yourself?
I'm going to get on low dose accutane (20mg, most likely) soon. I can live with dryness and joint pain...
My understanding is that accutane is toxic as fuck (to the point where if you're pregnant and use it you will miscarry)
If there's alternate treatments available I would seek them out first
i used accutane and had no hair loss whatsoever
it did permanently increase my eye floaters by like 500% though
I took 40mg at age 17, for 5 months, and got a severely receding hairline. My hair never grew back. I am now bald at 25. I also went through severe personality changes/psychological imbalance(stealing,violence,drug use) when I took accutane. This abated after end of dosage. Also my face would get really red and hot, like I was blushing, for 10-20 minutes a few times a day
do not take this medication unless your acne is so severe you feel like justing yourself(it was for me)
i would second this, I also went on because I felt like justing myself.
having cystic acne all over your cheeks, looking like dogshit all the time, not fun
not worth it for moderate acne
Well my derm says my acne is severe and diet only helps so much. I HAVE to get rid of it NOW and I want it gone permanently. But my acne isn't nearly as bad as the pic, which is why I think low dosing will work for me while (hopefully) dimming side effects as much as possible.
Do you sleep on your stomach?
if it was severe he wouldn't have put you on 20mg. 40-80mg is usual dose
I sleep on my back.
It wasn't my derms idea to put me on 20mg. I initially said no to accutane, but I have an appointment again soon and I'm going to tell him I want to get on low dose.
Yes go on destroy your gut flora even more ahah why don't you just eat your natural diet
I've been on lose dose accutane for months (not on it for acne, other medical issue) and I've experienced some hair loss, thinning and receding. It took a long time to start though and didn't happen when I was at a very high dosage. I experienced no side effects beyond physical even at my highest dose. I'm currently at 10mg.
It did clear up what little face acne I actually had and my I've never had any problems with it since so it does work for that. It could also be my shit hair genetics though since my grandpa has hair like a monk and I started getting gray hair at 22.
TLDR: Just do it, it's not nearly as serious as its reputation makes it seem
Fucking do it user. I had terrible acne at age 13-15, worst years of my life. Accutane fixed it and I only regret not going on it sooner.
I feel bad for all the people who didn't just have to suffer bad acne but also got serious side effects from accutane. Personally, I only had mildly dry skin and lips when on it and it helped my acne greatly. Though, it is coming back a little now, so I may have to go on it for a second time. I'd say it's definitely worth a try and you can always come off it if you do have problems.
I'm 21, been on 40mg a day (with periods of absence) for 6 months. Hair's fine, everything else fine except my lips but it's only when I'm taking it
accutane and raw cheese, or u know maybe dont have such a shit dietfaggot
I am currently on accutane. Do it man, it works and the side effects aren't that bad, just get a good moisturizer and lip balm. Haven't noticed any joint pain or hair loss.
20mg will barely make your skin dry. Doubt you'll get hairloss at that dose.
10mg works too btw, just takes longer.
From 16 to 24 I fell for the scaremongering about accutane. I suffered from acne for 8 years because of all this scaremongering. I wonder what my life could have been like if I lived those 8 years completely acne free. Would I have a gf? Would I loose my virginity much earlier? Would I not be depressed in high school? What kind of confidence would I have had.
I finally decided to ask a derm for accutane, and I seriously regret not doing it much much earlier. The side effects have been easy to handle and minimal, and it has worked like a charm.
20mg is a low dose. I doubt you'll experience any side effects on that dose.
I used 10mg for 8 months and completely cleared my roid acne
Do it. The symptoms are no where near as common as you'd think. Been on it for months and only side effect is dry skin and cracked lips, nothing some lotion and carmex can't solve.
This all sounds very promising and that's why I'm going to get on it. I'm just so incredibly scared of hair loss, I can't trade hair for clear skin, I need both. Guess I'll just have to beg god every day to not take my hair.
Have been off accutane for 6 months after being on it for 6 months (I am 20). Used to have horrible skin, but came out of the treatment with it looking pristine. I never get spots now either. My hair was only affected in that it was drier whilst on it, but there was no signs of balding. I even drank a fair bit whilst on it with no ill effects. Most of the people who complain about the drug are the ones who had bad reactions. People who actually had it work for them don’t need to post about it. It’s a wonder drug user, it will change your life.
Start eating raw meat especially raw liver and other organs (mainly liver tho). Cleared my face completely. Oh and cutting out grains
where do you get your liver? just a butcher?
I've been on it three times. I need it again, but I'm not putting myself back on. Hair loss is genetic in my family but I started losing hair at 18/19. Accutane also made me very angry and aggressive. It felt good to have clear skin, but fuck the anger, dryness, hair loss, and who knows what else it did. Dont do it user.
keto
the grocery store
Took 6000mg of Accutane over 8 months. No side effects other than dry skin an lips. My joints did hurt but I think that's got something to do with running 2 marathons in 2 weeks.
never had hair loss
CONSTANTLY chapped lipps
CONSTANTLY dry nose, sometimes bloody
acne gone for life after 3 months
no long term damage
do it
None of that sounds like acutane, that sounds like character flaws and bad genetics you blame on acutane.
>I TOOK ACUTANE AND I STARTEDRAPING MY SISTER AND STEALING FROM CHURCH
fucking really dude.
If your hair falls out it was gonna fall out anyway probably. Then you'll be bald with bad skin instead of just bald
It's also the only one proven to work while people with genetically flawless skin tell you try their aloe vera gel for 8 months and "see if that works."
And this is coming from somebody who does low carb (low sugar) so his rosacea doesn't come back. If you got acne like pic related you go on accutane or you hope it goes away in 15 years. None of the other garbage works.
I remember back when people were warning me about potential depression from accutane like the massive cysts on my face weren't already making me ponder suicide
It won't make your hair fallout. It will definitely make your skin incredibly dry. I felt like I was molting at times. Cleared up my acne though. Should have gotten on it years sooner.
plant based diet cures acne
Dry skin won't make me feel any worse than seeing new pimples everyday for seemingly no reason at all.
Some say plant based, others say carnivore. What is it then?
Plant-based and carnivore both have the chance to eliminate foods that someone might be sensitive to (likely dairy or vegetable oils). Depends on the person.
Some types of plant based works because you are starving your body of the things it needs to maintain a functioning immune system
Raw carnivore with high fat content is the ultimate skin health diet
Makes sense.
Retard for taking accutane
Just eat a clean diet and your skin will take care of itself
Acne is a response to you exposjng yourself to some kind of toxic garbage
Taking drugs to get rid of acne means you still have the toxic garbage in the places your body is trying to remove it from and you are adding the toxic garbage drugs to your system as well
Raw dairy doesn't cause acne. Only factory farmed pasteurized homogenized crap does.
This. If your skin is bad enough that you need Accutane, you're probably kind of suicidal anyway.
Accutane is for when your skin refuses to surrender, and you have to drop two nukes on it. You'll get along just fine with your skin after that, and it won't whine about it 75 years after the fact like other organs might in a similar situation.
I went on 40mg (I think? Whatever the heaviest one was) when I was in high school and I'm fine now at 21 years old. Still have a shit load of very fine hair, the girl who cuts my hair says it reminds her of a teddy bear.
Just tough it out for however long it is, it's completely worth it.
It depends on the person.
I went on two courses of Accutane and stretched the second course out with microdosing. I lost 1/3rd of my hair and while it grew back, I continue to have bouts of excessive hair loss 5 years later. I also never had suicidal thoughts before Accutane. My acne came back just as bad.
The success rate after is nowhere near what is touted by dermatologists and people here. If you have acne, you have inflammation. Do an elimination diet and fix your gut health.
People with real, persistent acne have gut problems. Plants contain irritating compounds that can have significant impacts on someone with compromised gut health. You don't have to go carnivore, but aiming for something like a ratio of 80% animal products (probably excluding dairy) and 20% plants that you can tolerate is more practical for the long-term. Going 100% carnivore (beef-based) is really good for reseting your body and allowing it to heal, but it really isn't a lifestyle that's practical long-term.
Careful with mental side effects. That shit triggered social anxiety badly for me. And i get random depressive days. It weakened my mind. And my acne came back (less harsh) 2 years later. It also did something to my guts. I havent gone to the doc but i feel a painless pinch. But good luck though
I did accutane when I was in highschool. At the time I didn't notice to much side effects except dry skin. It mostly cleared up my skin actually. Now I am 30 and I still have some fucking acne. Working on my diet now, only eating fatty meat, liver and organs. IBS is mostly gone and skin seems to be clearing up.
I am 26 and struggled with acne for most of my life in particular the last couple of years. Finally nailed it on a head this year with this formula and my face has never been clearer
First start fasting regularly, like if you fast for 48 hours your face will clear up instantly, then start fasting check out clearskinforever. It’s a holistic approach to combating acne that focuses on dietary and lifestyle changes. At first I was hesitant as I used to not buy into that sort of stuff but after 3 failed courses of accutane and every other thing under the sun I thought might as well give it a shot. Accutane works but it almost always comes back especially if your dosage is low.
First thing you have to do is stop washing your face everyday with cleansers and what not. I know it seems counter-productive but your face has natural oils and every time you cleans your face it aggravates that balance.
Secondly cut out dairy, sugars, and gluten from your diet. That may seem tough but which is more important? Eating unhealthy food or having clean skin?
Thirdly focus on increasing your vitamin intake. Eat liver every week for Vitamin A and if you can’t stomach that then look at natural Vitamin A supplements but discuss this with your doctor first and make sure you get regular Vitamin D if supplementing with Vitamin A. Vitamin D is best attained through 20 minutes in the sun everyday. Next take Zinc 30mg (with copper as well) everyday. Zinc has proven to be almost as effective as anti-bacterial medications over a three month period except with out the damaging impacts to the gut flora. But remember that ideally you want to avoid taking vitamins so if you can source natural sources of Zinc like oysters, choose that instead. Finally make sure you get a healthy dose of magnesium, the sort you want is found in the clearskinforever booklet.
Make sure you drink plenty of water, get regular sleep, and exercise regularly. Intermittent fasting also helps.
I did it at an age of 21. My hairline recessed but not noticeable.
But I got into a second kind of puberty. My face got more and more masculine and my muscles where fuckin defined. No water retention at all! I was fucking shredded.
Just do it user! It's worth it. The sides are unpredictable but the hit your self confidence takes from acne is much worse
Did no one ever teach you to fucking moisturize after you cleanse, you mongoloid?
Nigga my hair is so thick I can barely get a comb through it. You will be fine.
hi sterling
Do it user, if your acne is that bad just do it as soon as you can. I am now on my second cycle because after a few years my acne came back and this year it was getting cystic again so I finally went again. Wish I had done it sooner because I have terrible scars from it and essentially ruined my face and dating prospects almost completely. Its also fucked with my job prospects and pretty much every interaction I have so I'm pretty fucked.
Do it before you have to deal with what I have to.
>40-80mg is usual dose
They start you out on a lower dose and build up gradually in case you have an adverse reaction or have difficulty handling the side effects. This is normal.
I took Accutane about a year ago. No more zits. It was hell, but I'm glad I did it. My only regret is not doing it sooner and being a pussy, I have a bunch of scars on my face as a result.
Lol just fast loser
That's not second puberty that's just weight loss
No weight loss there. I was at 95kg there
I had severe acne, and I mean severe. Puss would blast off my face if I crinkled my skin in any way. Frowning, smiling, it was so painful and it would all scar. I am extremely pale and every scratch showed. Lesions and bleedings were a daily toil, all throughout freshman and sophomore year. I was fit so nobody messed with me, but the psychological damage was immense on my confidence. Accutane completely saved me. It made me even a little arrogant. The first week is brutal breakouts, cause the skin is drying from below, and all the puss is pushed on the top. Do not go to work for that week. It's gonna get gross, it gets worse before it gets better. I saw no problems with hair loss nor with joints. You will change as a person after taking it. I no nothing of the side effects for men, I would never take it if I was a woman.
Stop using make up if female;
Stop eating shit in huge quantities(sugar, butter, imagine any oily trash food turning into pus dripping out from your face);
Drink water;
Stop sleeping with dirty sheets/use a clean towel;
Do cardio/exercise;
Use clay masks in the evening to mitigate the oily skin;
Stop trying to find excuses;
I had the same level of acne as OP's pic if not worse, but on forehead and chin. It caused me a shit ton of issues and there were few kids that would associate with me, those are still my friends today. A girl in class looked at me in silence for a few seconds and just said "pizza face" with a disgusted expression once, out of nowhere, I still remember that. It's fucking disgusting dealing with all of this, but I realize I was an overweight, shit eating teenager with a dirty pillow from my own oily skin. I carry the scars of my choices, but luckily they are now barely visible.
I would probably still have had acne, but not nearly as severe if I had done what I listed from the start instead of starting at 17.
What I missed out in the relationship aspect I recovered later in my 20ies, you'll always have issues to overcome. For anyone that wants to try.
i legit had acne like op's pic and it all want away by drinking a lot of water, washing my face 6-10 times a day, using creams for oily skin and growing up.
my acne stayed with me from 13 to 22 then it went away so your best bet is probably to wait
The hot springs at the spa contain iodine salts here. I just wash myself in it a couple times a week.
10000% agreed. Terrible acne especially on my shoulders and back destroyed my confidence and put me into a pit of despair. When I was 24 I bought accutane from an Indian pharmacy and took 20-30mg a day. Within weeks my skin was 80% better. In a couple months my skin was clear. I had some dry lips and I'm a little more prone to sunburn now but it was worth it. Now I'm 29 with a qt big booty gf who has sex with me and I make six figgies.
