Hi Jow Forums. Is it possible to bulk up doing exclusively callisthenics? I'm a skinnyfag, and I don't have any gyms near my home where I live. There are gyms in nearby cities, but the fees are expensive and it takes me one hour of travel by bus. So they aren't an optional choice for me.
Hi Jow Forums. Is it possible to bulk up doing exclusively callisthenics? I'm a skinnyfag...
Initially you might get gains, but its hard to have consistent progressive overload to every major body part with just body weight.
You need some free weights at the VERY least or else youll see your progress flutter. By the way thats not to say calisthenics cant be fun, enjoyable and that you cant build strength for those specific movements. But as far as sculpting a physique ideally, probably not.
Yes
but you have to go hard
and eat the food
Yes it is, resistance is resistance. Post your current stats though. Also buy rings
It's the first time I browse Jow Forums. What would my stats be, exactly?
Great. Also, thanks for posting that workout. I've been googling one but with no real success. There are a lot of paid stuff and I'm not sure how good they are.
By stats I meant your height and weight. You could also state your previous experience with working out. If you want I can send you some resources btw
remember little twink, eat big and train hard, if you only do one of the 2 you WILL NOT GROW, you need to do both of em
Yes from experience it puts on quite a bit of muscle, but your programming with it has to be very Solid. Check out the recommended routine on reddit or Antranik.com. I would also recommend you get a pair of rings so you can learn a Maltese or Iron Cross.
Alright. I'm 27, 63kg, 1,76mts.
My previous experience working out is barely something to tell about. I've had periods where I've gone to the gym for a, maybe half a year to suddenly drop out. Nothing consistent, really. I go out running twice a week now.
And yeah, I'd happily accept whatever you can give me, friend.

>Rings
Objectively based my friend. Also FitnessFAQ and Calisthenicsmovement on youtube.
Alright OP give me a couple of minutes to make a zip with some stuff for ya
First some links
reddit.com
quickfileshare.org
Here's a zip for you. From the things inside Body by Rings and Bodyweight Evolution are my favorites (both made by Daniel from FitnessFAQ you might want to check the guy)
As mentioned previously I highly reccomend getting rings (even though some of the movements will be too hard for a beginner) but in case you don't want to spend money to get them you might want to try something like this youtube.com
All in all, remember to be consistent and progressively overload as well as eat enough calories and protons. If you have any questions feel free to ask them
Thank you so much. I'm totally clueless with this stuff and I'm tired of being a no back/shoulders/chest twink.
I'll check everything out right now.
Thanks man, those are some great resources. I recently got into calisthenics with the startbodyweight.com routine and am seeing progress.
You're welcome. The routine you mentioned isn't half bad with the exception of alternating dips and push-ups and some weirdly spaced progressions (pistols before shrimps). Keep up the good work user
how much do you reckon a standing pull up bar thing like that would cost
I personally own pic related and it set me back an equivalent of ~75$. I'm sure you can find something similar wherever you live for not much more
Ignore the gym posters, you only would need weight for lower body mainly because you can't train legs as effectively without weight as you can with weighted squats.
Anywho, Work up on basic movements such as pull ups, dips, push ups and Leg raises. Those fundamentally should you give you a balanced physique. Afterwards, you can tackle skills. Don't let your ego affect your workouts and jump straight into advanced skills like planche and front levers before you have a decent strength base.
LASTLY. You can only go so far with still bars, get gymnastic rings like other anons recommended
short answer: yes
long answer: no
Yeah, but good luck training legs.
Lower back and chest will also become challenging as you progress more.
Infinitely better than nothing though.
How is it called?
I mean it won't help you much unless you live in the same country as I do but here's the link anyway allegro.pl
Thank you, user
yes, but you should be doing the really hard stuff before you decide to bulk up, otherwise you're going to have a hard time. bulking up on advanced calisthenics feels great.
My qualifications are that I can do straddle planche pushups and one arm chin ups. That said, I just cut 5lbs last week to better train my straddle planche pushups
trash infographic for harder stuff
thank you
>trash infographic for harder stuff
It's called startbodyweight basic routine for a reason user. It does what it is supposed to do
levers, oacs, and hspu progressions are garbage. I get what it's trying to do, but I believe that it sets a foundation for subpar progressions and poor results.
What's up with the Phos posting friend. You seem familar...
I also forgot, what should I do for the horizontal pulls for the startbodyweight basic routine? I'm guessing I can only go so far with a door and bedsheet.
Absolutely, I had good progress with weights but when I began dips and (australian) pull ups I had tremendous progress. Don't listen to anyone saying weight is needed for progressive overload, intensity can absolutely acheive it too
