Ive tried to return to lifting after a 2 year lay off but I keep getting super nauseous after to the point that all I can do to not vomit is tuck my head between my knees, have thrown up a handful of times. >start lighter I have made the workouts less intense, every workout it happens I make it even less intense. I’ve dropped the weights a lot, just say one on SS with sub 1pl8 has made me puke. The weight didn’t even feel heavy and I could have repped it out if I wanted. Still felt ill after.
Now I’m just doing pushups and pull-ups. And it still happens. Literally just 3-4x12 on pushups and 2-3x5 on pull-ups. That’s nothing, yet it leaves me violently ill.
>Diet This was the first thing I got back in order before starting to lift again. I’m eatibg maintenance sometimes 500 calories under.
So what the fuck gives guys? I’m getting super frustrated over this because I just want to get back to where I was, cut the weight I’ve gained too. But for the last 4 months I’ve been dealing with this. Is it cardiovascular? My cardio is also trash, If I jog 10 minutes I will throw up. I have a feeling if I build up my cardio this will go away. Like I have the strength for lifts, but it gasses me out and causes me to grow up even with super lighter weights or just straight up pushups. Could it be that I need to focus primarily on building my endurance, that I could have gotten so out of shape that weights need to wait? Please help. Feeling super lost.
This is probably gonna sound retarded and I feel as dumb as I should just posting it, but could holding my breath during sets be the issue here? I was told by an old gym owner/coach that it would translate into cardio and replace the need to do any cardio

>holding my breath during sets Can't tell if baiting or retarded. If not baiting. At least go for walks. Breathe when exercising and when not. When you feel dizzy or nausea, stop the workout, you're done for that day. Also, it's mid july so the heat might also heave a large effect, try to workout when it's cooler (early in the morning). If after all of this you still have problems, go to a doctor.
James Adams
Forgot, drink water.
Michael Evans
Why dont you go to the doctor? Sounds like somethings wrong with your body.
Elijah Gonzalez
Learn to breathe, idiot. Set a fan in front of your weights if you need to.
Asher Rivera
I have something similar that happens randomly through the year. I dont get sick per say but i get nauseous and my head starts hurting. I think it has to do with the bad air/ventilation in the gym since i never have this problem while exercising outside.
Maybe have a session on the bars outside? Other than that your immune system is probably fucked
I hold my breath on heavy sets too and I feel amazing after working out.
Obviously eat minimum 20g of fast carbs directly after working out and around 50-200g of carbs 1-2h before working out. For me personally this makes a huge difference, even more for endurance training, try this if you dont do it already.
There's a huge difference between holding breath on the hevyest sets for bracing and not breathing for the whole workout.
Angel Cox
make sure you get enough water throughout the day and dont drink a lot during/after the workout, drink water but pace yourself, I had a similar problem and it was because I was drinking too much water after I finished
Matthew Sanders
Not baiting so I guess I’m just actually mentally challenged. This has happened indoors in air conditioning so I don’t think it’s heat related. I definitely drink plenty of water too. I really do think it’s the breathing unironically because Dr. (((nose))) just tells me “you’re fine” and has even just shrugged and said “that’s weird” to other issues. If anything all the dr is gonna tell me is the generic shit I already do “get good sleep, eat right, etc.) It actually might be, I used to very rarely get sick and when I would it never slowed me down but these last few years I’ve been getting absolutely raped with constant colds. Actually around the time I started falling out of lifting is when I started to get sick. Fuck I hope I didn’t get aids or some shit Pic related, although I definitely do that to other people’s threads
Holy fuck I AM retarded I started with a “ and ended it with )
Jonathan Butler
OP, seriously, next time, eat a small amount of quick carbs before the workout and watch in amazement as you don't have this problem. Seriously, just eat like, 1 small cookie before your workout. You wont feel pukey.
Dylan Reyes
do you eat enough red meat?
Connor Lopez
Last time I ate a bagel and a Greek yogurt 30 minutes before and it still happened, on just pushups 4x12 Chins 3x6. Has to cut the workout short because I could tell if I did anything else I’d end up vomiting
Leo Walker
I’d day so, you think it’s an iron deficiency or something?
Jace Lee
If you have low blood pressure, alternating between standing up and laying down can make you go dizzy (faster).
Camden Harris
Not sure if I do but how do I fix low BP? I’m 23
Xavier Hughes
based vomitbro I'm just getting back into lifting after a very long time and I vomit too, but I think that's because I'm pushing myself really hard in a really really hot attic
Jaxon Walker
I have no idea, it goes up with age, so it's not really a bad thing to be on the lower side when young. Most people have problems because it's too high. I have lower BP than average, but I'm healthy, it's within normal levels. If i feel tired or dizzy for no reason, I eat something salty (and drink some water) and it's usually enough. If it's still not enough (very rare), I lay down and keep my feet on something, so my head is lower than my feet, this increases blood flow to the brain. Also BP drops because of heat and also can drop when you go from heavy physical activity, to little or none. Problem is, since you don't know for sure, if yours is too high and you elevate it, that's dangerous.
Jace Clark
youre a retard. not only is that not true (about the doctor), but if you DO go to a doctor and they say that to you, youre an idiot for continuing to see that doctor.
you 100% have something wrong with you. it might be minor, or easily treatable. but you definitely have an issue. wtf would you make a thread about this unless you were looking for feedback/solutions? your solution is to find a doctor that will help you figure out what the physical issue is.
t. used to happen to me too, turns out i have dysautonomia (POTS). fucks with my blood pressure especially when changing my physical orientation/head position. - the fact that putting your head between your knees tends to combat the symptoms is a clue that something is happening with your ears, inner ears, eyes, brain or blood.
go to a doctor that will help you figure it out, you ABSOLUTE FUCKING IDIOT.
Dylan Mitchell
I think salt helps but I'm no doctor.
Carson Gray
>itt OP has type 2 diabetes but is larping so hard even he is memeing himself
hahahahahahahahah can spot them a mile away, i can smell your foot odor and BO too OP!
Jackson Taylor
I literally just left that dr and have been searching for a new, better one. But even so I just figured this was something that could be solved by making changes, for example I mentioned maybe it was my shitty endurance/ capacity for cardio. Thanks for the post anyway
Pls no bully :(
Benjamin Johnson
Don’t say this, I really hope I don’t have the diabeetus
T. Just did a ton of bloodwork for work and know this is not the case
Dylan Rodriguez
Hi, so what that Dr. said to you is malpractice, which means you can sue the living shit out of him. Which you didn't, you won't and you're 100% larping and baiting. Like, do you understand how malpractice works? Or if a doctor gives you false information? You can SUE THEM and there is NO RECOURSE for them. That is how strong patient rights are in the USA does not matter the state.
This is a total fucking larp/bait and it makes me so mad. /fit is utterly ruined
Ryder Allen
/fit user I...
Josiah Edwards
This is retarded. You are retarded. Do you realize how shitty of a larp/bait this would be? I hope you genuinely are mad, not because this is a larp or bait (which it’s not) but because you’re a fucking betacuck retard
Luis Bailey
OP here again.
I’m gonna test to see if I’m just being a dumb faggot and not breathing (legit can’t even remember if I do or not). Gonna do the same workout I did the other day that made me nearly puke. Just some bodyweight. If I feel fine towards the end I’ll use my homegym to get some extra back work in, if not I’m finding a non shitty doctor and finding out wtf is wrong with me asap. Thanks to those of you that helped out itt, it’s appreciated and nice to see that Jow Forums isn’t totally decayed yet
Jason Morgan
Try eat something a little salty. My nausea was related to my electrolyte balance.
Charles Cook
Hey OP, I used to get sick as well sometimes. What time of the day are you going at? I can’t go within a few hours of waking up or I’ll get sick. Make sure you don’t lift on an empty or full stomach either.
When I first started I was always going early morning, so that’s what I’ve been doing. However one of the handful of times that I puked at the gym was at night around 9pm and I still tend to get just as nauseous at any time (I’ve literally tested this)
Jaxson Rodriguez
OP UPDATE
So it turns out I do need to see a doctor. The good news is that it’s not because I may have a health condition causing me to puke after working out, but just that I need to get tested to see if I’m mentally challenged or not. It was 100% breathing. I was actually holding my breath during sets for the entire workout. Total game changer. I’m gonna get back to weights next week and see how that goes.
