How do I safely do an extended fast?

whats the deal with blowouts while fasting? How does someone fix that? Today for instance I am on day 2 of a who knows how long fast and I got the runs. I havent even started my snake juice yet. Is it just me? Who else is living that diarrhea life and has anybody fixed it?

How long have you been fasting? This always happen to people starting out, there is no way to avoid it. Once you fast often, your body adapts and the diarrhea stops.

Well I was fasting tons until the new year. Like a 48-72 hr fast a week and mmultiple omads until last year. So maybe I will give it a few weeks. To see how it goes.

Maybe not 'dangerous' in a sense that it causes long term damage. But abruptly breaking a prolonged fast with a large, unhealthy meal containing a bunch of unnatural shit can for sure hurt the shit out of your stomach.

But ye, you'll be okay. The reason it hurts is because your digestive enzyme production slows down when fasting for several days, so the indigested food is basically 'scraping' along your intestines is a more solid and tough form than those organs are supposed to handle. Don't worry about it happening once. The damage wont be permanent. But i wouldnt do it too often either.

My last real meal was July 7. Since then, days have been a mix of dry fasting, wet fasting, and an occasional bulletproof coffee. I was 215 - 220 when I started, I'm now at 191.4. I know most of that is glycogen, water, and inflammation, but my system should be pretty well detoxed, and my leptin/insulin should be totally reset at this point, so I should be ready to make real progress through standard keto/IF protocols. The lowest I've ever been is 175, but I think I can surpass that pretty easily.

Something that has been used and recommended for at least 1,000 years is hardly a "fad". Plus it works.

I've been on Jow Forums since 2012 or so but haven't been here much in the last 18 months, excited to come back and see a /fast/ up and running.

Fasting is saving my life. I'm not a disaster like some folks, my crisis weight was 88.8 kilograms. I got there three times and each time the scale showed me that number I felt like I could hear God screaming in my ears 'you've wasted your fucking life.'

I'm under 80kgs as of this morning and fasting is the quintessential journey. Snake juice is great. CICO is important of course but it's too slow in this modern landscape. You need results now. If you still with a -500 run, eventually you're going to binge drink with friends, or someone you care about will get sick and you'll binge eat to cope with the stress.

Look yourself in the mirror now and commit to getting to your ideal weight as soon as possible. Don't waste any more time being unhappy. Work out what you should weigh and set a picture of that number as your screensaver on your computer and phone, and write it on your hand every day. You might only need to sacrifice three weeks of your life with fasting and you'll be a completely new person. You can do it.

Also chip away with salt during the day a lot. If you're feeling blue, water and salt. Electrolytes take you by surprise, you don't realise when they've dropped until hours later when you realise you were thinking like a retard and felt terrible.

You'll spend less time in ketosis and lose less weight.

The longer you fast the deeper the ketosis. In a 4 day fast you are barely into ketosis before you end it, with an 8 day fast your have days of ketosis more. It all helps.

Currently on 4-days and 15 hours, deep into ketosis (as evidenced by my ketostix) and on track to reach my goal weight of 68KG around day 20 or so.

I will fast until I've reached my goal and if I can manage it, undershoot because of the immediate rebound of water weight.

Are you working out? If not, you can try dryfasting all day and eating a bunch of salted cucumber at the end of the day. If yes, you can still do it, but you're going to feel like shit the first few days and you'll have to reduce your workout volume

Fasting taught me how to not be emotionally attached to food. I do not sympathize or relate to people that "love food" and "couldn't go a day without food" anymore. I eat when it's convenient for me and when it best suits my schedule day, not when I feel like it. It's a liberating feeling not being a slave to my hunger signals and being in complete control of my thoughts and day. Just looking back at all the mental and physical energy I allocated towards food makes me sick now... I used to think to myself "oh I gotta eat right now or I'll be hungry in 2 hrs, or oh I don't wanna eat out so I'm going to eat now, or oh what will I eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner today?" now I just eat once and I'm able to carefully think about the nutrition of my meal.

You can absorb water through the skin but not food.

Weight loss exposes your penis more and improves bloodflow. It is possible that if you were obese in adolescence, you had suppressed testosterone levels and could have a latent small growth spurt in your penis with higher test levels. This often happens with steroid users who were fat kids.
But fasting doesn't boost your test till after the fat is lost and the fast is broken.

I made one of those posts at the beginning of this month and told myself I would fast the whole month. I've eaten like every other day so far and just feel so unaccomplished. My main problem was probably the weed but I'm throwing out everything having to do with that now. I still just want to at least fast past August 1st and get onto a healthy 48, 72 routine.
