personally ive trained my neck since about 13 years of age but its one of those "intimate" workouts you rather do at home.
personally i feel that its very "out there" to be going around doing neck exercises in a gym when the most effective routines is done with low weight and high reps like the oldschool boxer technique laying down on the floor which is mostly an impact from its breathing technique breathing left/right with the palms of your hands on the floor next to you, laying down on your back. At first it might seem like a joke the first time youve been instructed in doing this but the more you keep switching sides of your head, inhaling left side of you, exhaling to your right and the more and more you will feel like youre using muscles thats never been stimulated before in your entire lifetime.
other than that, i think the majority of impact in "actual neck size" is coming from deadlift with really proper form.
also if you can do it at your home, why not just do it? its not like you need a gym for cardio/morning carido, training your grip strength with captain crush or for forearm gains, same goes for neck exercises.
remember that a well developed trapezius and a thick neck might save your life from a lethal blow against your neck/head.

So everyone else, here it is: Neck Curls and Neck Extensions. If you can't get this right you might as well jam your dick in a toaster and watch it goopify and become a liquidy cockfire. Lay down (belly or back), put weight on noggin (crown or forehead), and crunch with your neck while holding the weight on your head. If that's not good enough for you, YouTube it. Start with only bodyweight twice a week (1 max set for front and back) until you can do a set of 100 unbroken, then you can add weight. I personally do neck twice a week for 2 sets of 20 to 50 reps, front and back. I have a neck harness which is good for the back of your neck but plate neck crunches are still the easiest thing for the front. If you do this in the gym, I promise some goddamn fucking bonehead that can't bench 1 plate will laugh at you, so naturally sling a 45lb plate at his goofy melon like a fucking distructo disc. When his head pops off his stack of dimes baby neck, tell his dork brigade of jogger wearing pals that if he would have trained his neck he would still be alive. Get a 20 inch neck and be a fucking demigod.

this is actually a rehab technique but it should probably be just as effective as deadlifts for neck gains
there are tools for those exercises made for just this, its probably going to be difficult to come by (i think) unless you ask around by chiropractors or similar

there is no reason to do snap city-exercises like neck curls
I own a russian bulletproof helmet so i use that for doing all of them its good to go fully handsfree so i can achieve maximum neck gains
