>be me
>haven't played sports in years
>haven't exercised ever
>back started hurting
>start going to gym with dad
>push myself even though I'm starting with piss-easy weights
>feel sore the next day
>get membership
>only been a week
>feel better
>already noticing gains in my arms
Holy shit, it was that easy. I think I'm gonna make it.
Who /startedgymrecently/ here
I've been traveling for work for the past two months and have started making use of the hotel's fitness room.
>1 mile jog on the treadmill.
>Basic weights
I'm not trying to make much gains, I just want to establish the habit of going to the gym every day so when I get home, I can start going to a real gym.
I started back up beginning of May after years of not lifting and getting fat (was a lineman in highschool but stopped lifting after I graduated). Whenever I feel like I’m stalling I just remember where I was 3 months ago and realize it’s great progress.
For 5 reps:
75lb -> 135lb OHP
95lb -> 175lb Bench
135lb -> 310lb squat
185lb -> 325lb Deadlift
>only been a week
>feel better
>already noticing gains in my arms
that's pump, bro
you can't grow a noticeable amount of muscle in a week
I used to be really active and then blew out my back one day, took like a year of physio to fix, but I've been so sedentary I don't even know what to do to start getting fit again. Tried going back to gym recently but my lfiestyle is so fucked that my limbs/joints have shit circulation, and if I push myself to do any serious lifts or runs it just strains.
Not OP but I just started on Monday. What's pump?
[a] pump is when blood rushes to a certain area of your body. its most noticeable in arms when you do bicep curls at least for me, and for a period of time it makes your arms/wherever bigger
>135lb ohp
>175lb bench
Sure you aren't pushpressing on ohp?
Just started yesterday. Lovin' it so far but I'm having trouble eating so much cause I'm used to being skelly mode.
Just restarted last week, after a year of 16 hour days.
I forgot how much I missed this
100%
Literally started 5 hours ago. 1 hour 30 minutes using dumbells, barbells and leg presses, 7 reps 4 sets.
I am not a fag or a beta. I am a fucking beast and I am going to make it vros.
Keep going, you‘re gonna make it
Joined just over 2 weeks ago too OP
>BP 30kg -> 50kg
>DL 50kg -> 80kg
>Squats 30kg - 52.5kg
>OHP 20kg - 30kg
Very nice progress bro. Your arc starts here.
I just started going back to the gym after more than a year of stop.
I already feel much better desu, brought one of my friends to the gym for the first time so I can keep the motivation by teaching him.
>started a year ago,
>made good progress
>changed work, left the country, was in a hospital for a while
>haven't been to the gym in months
>lost all my gains
>started again from zero couple weeks ago
>slowly but surely beating pre-skip numbers
>proper fucking form, routine and nutrition this time
Gonna make it, feel it in my thick bones.
I started a month back with the bar on pretty much every exercise. I haven't actually struggled with any of the weights yet but I think I'll probably have trouble with getting 1pl8 on bench, my form fucking blows. I've been increasing the weights really slowly.
Current weights
>Row 45kg 5x5
>Bench 45kg 5x5
>Squat 47.5kg 5x5
>OHP 30kg 5x5
>DL 60kg 1x5
I'm up to 86.90kg body weight from 84.55kg, which might be too fast of a weight gain for a month.
>haven't done any sports in 10 years
>28 year old boomer
>lazy fat fuck 5'9 at 210lbs
>started in February in an attempt not to give up on something for once
>ask the gym guys for help, give me a program
>fuck around for two months on mainly machines and cardio machines until comfortable in gym
>feel body adapt to resistance training
>talk to the gym guys again for a big boy program
>start most of the big boy lifts and start seeing major progress
>5'9 at 190lbs rn and cutting down to 170-175
>work out 4-5 times a week now
>super motivated to go back every day
thanks lads
I started doing elliptical training 3 days a week about a month ago and it absolutely rules. Did C24K in about three weeks (I know, it's much easier on a elliptical) and have been exploring some good healthy habits using it as a sort of foundation. I'm back in molding mobility which I haven't done in years, I do good stretches after every session (dudeweed in the nude is great for diagnosing stuff and self-massaging), and just started meditation again. When I finish my main continuous bulk of cardio and my cool-down I end up just staying on for another hour or two, going in reverse, adding weight, doing "sprint" bursts, working on balance, and getting really light steady exercise while I study for my anatomy class.
I haven't lost any weight (5'11 185lbs) but that hasn't really been the point. It makes me feel much more clearly how self-discipline is NOT at all about self-hatred and shouldn't feel that way, but about self-love and helping you really advantage of and nurture your innate curiosity and drive to create.
>really take advantage of
>be me, 2 and a half years ago, (28 y.o.)
>my contract ends, decide to spend some months travelling and enjoying life
>one day after a party try to lift girlfriend in my arms, being playful
>snap.png
>my back literally collapses as I feel the most horrible pain I've ever felt
>spend a week in bed without being able to bend or move much
>no job means no insurance so I'm just hoping it goes away on its own
>after a while decide to go to the hospital anyway and pay the bill because this shit isn't going away
>3 vetebrae collapsed (fractured), the doctors don't understand how that's possible in such a young man
>spend then next year in bed because of chronic back pain every time I stand and walk for longer than 10 minutes
>so much time to be in bed and do nothing, I decide to look into the cause of my accident
>tfw some pills I was taking for anxiety related stomach issues gave me osteoporosis
>another year and a half goes by, the pain doesn't go away
>I try stretching, walking, swimming, but nothing makes the pain go away
>want to get checked again but I have no insurance and I need to save money
>realize if I don't do anything I'm not only going to be crippled but also I won't be able to pay the bills anymore
>decide to join a gym and start lifting, since my bones should be fine by now
>the plan is, get all my muscles stronger so that they can support my back better and I can have my life again.
As you can imagine, after 2 and a half years of basically not moving, the first weeks in the gym were pretty tough. I struggled with all sorts of muscle imbalances but I managed to push through somehow. 2 months later, my back pain is disappearing rapidly and I started today looking for jobs. Lifts are also going up quickly now, feels good. Soon I'll be my old self again. Wish me luck bros.
If mobility is your issue, I'd say jsut start out running and work up to a respectable place (don't forget dynamic stretching beforehand and static stretching after a run), then just use treadmill/stretching as a warm-up for weightlifting. At my running peak, I was able to get away with alot of lifting with shit form because I was warmed up and mobile.
how heavy is your gf bro?
I just started up again and I'm so weak. I used to work out heavily when I was 14 and then I got really depressed and became sedentary for 7 years. I used to be benching 225 for 5 reps at 180 easily now I'm benching 125 for 8 at 220 pounds. I'm getting mogged so hard by my 14 year old self.
about 60 kg
Started again 3ish weeks ago after not lifting since Fall. Unfortunately, I’m also cutting, so my lifts suck dick, but they’re at least maintainable.
225lb squat
135lb bench
Been meaning to add OHP again
Don’t do diddies, do back and trap isolations instead.
Already down 6lbs from 191 to 185 in about 1.5weeks of actually counting calories and being consistent. Need to dip to ~160 to be lean enough to start eating more.
3 almost 4 months In breh and honestly I wish I had started sooner because everyone i meet there's supportive and they're all giving me good advice 10/10 comfy gym
Adam?
he probablhy just has shit chest genetics, I have the same problem.
I am another one of those dudes who hopped back on the wagon after years of not lifting, I started in mid june
>squat 100>225x5
>dead 135>265x3
>bench 95>165x5
>ohp 85>130x5
I don't exactly know what my beginning lifts are I just kept adding weight every work out until difficulty
for reference my previous PRS were
>squat 335x5
>dead 440x3
>bench 225x1
>ohp 175x3
Keep it up, I'm entering my 4th month.
Nope
>home gym for months
>lose a bunch of fucking weight
>start gym to keep progress going
>plateau
>always fucking sore
Shit fucking sucks
Not at the gym but I started exercising again recently
>27 year old boomer
>used to bench/squat/dead-215/375/425 for reps in HS
>life hit like a truck
>became neet for 7ish years
>175lb otter mode ripped 6'0" to 220ish lb dad bod with a bit of a gut/fat face
Gonna start running again by doing
>1 mile run
>bodyweight exercises
>2 mile run
>bodyweight exercises
>2 mile run
>bodyweight exercises
>1 mile run back home
Till I get back to 170, then it's time to hit the gym again. Kinda sucks because after all that cardio and weight loss I'll be weak as fuck for awhile, but better then getting to be a massive fat fuck.
>work in trade for 5 years now
>when i started skinny weak fuck
>now can handle most of the work day but get tired and dont do nothing when i get home
How do i get energy to start working out. I do feel like im a lot stronger than i was 5 years ago but i know i can definitely get stronger and have a better looking body
Where do i start? How do i start? Pls give advice and suggestions, i dont want to be a tired sad fuck for the rest of my life
Was exercising on and off, finally went all in on the meme and got a pf membership this week. Feel like I've got something to work toward and like I'm getting shit on track. Feels good
Sometimes when I am tired after work I stop at the first gas station and buy an energy drink. Partly for energy boost, but also because if I spend 2 or 3 dollars on an energy drink I'm not going to let myself just go home and sleep and waste it, puts a little skin in the game I guess.
Going to the gym tired and when you'd rather go home and sleep or waste time is ideal because it exercises your muscles and your self discipline.
Good luck tradebro
>Can't exercise until I lose weight because I don't want to hurt my knees
>No willpower to eat better and lose weight because I don't exercise
Started working out with my crossfit friend about 2 months ago. He's teaching me the programming and giving suggestions for gyms so I can keep going when he has to go out of state for school again. Really don't want to let him down. Also trying to cut out soda.
ride a bike you mong, not that it matters if you don't eat better, your fat ass cant outrun anything let a lone a bad diet
>lifting 7 months
>however have done it with a friend with a more bodybuilding based brosplit routine, can see gains in my body but still really weak
>moving to study next weekend so going to start training more strength based
Should i just start SS? My lifts are shitty,
50kg BP
32,5kg OHP
75kg squat
120kg diddlys
Been stuck with OHP and bench for a long time
I dabbled in lifting a bit 2 years ago, then lost my left eye in an "accident"
Started again a bit over 4 months ago and I'm about to hit 2pl8 bench and hit a 3pl8 deadlift for 5 reps on Monday. So stoked with my progress so far, I never would have thought I had the genetics to be even a bit strong. Also I'm a 31 yo boomer which makes it even sweeter
Keep lifting bros
Do SS or greyskull and add at least some upper body volume. 3x10 bench and OHP with 60-70%. Volume is the most important driver of progress
you don't need to exercise to lose weight just quit stuffing your gob
why is accident in quotations you have piqued my interest mysterious stranger
As are you son
Six months in, longest I've committed to gym
Had a few tough lessons to learn starting out, eating properly being the biggest issue.
But I'm at 4-5 meals a day now, starting to serious gains.
We're all gonna make it.
I got stabbed in the eye with a broken beer glass by some crackhead loser in a bar because I made eye contact with him for too long. Sucks but oddly its made me a much happier person. I used to be afraid of everything but after coming through being mutilated none of the silly social bullshit that used to worry me is frightening
*
hang in there guys
it's really nice, you just need to eat a lot and wash your shit
Today I made it to 1pl8 deadlift
i started 3 months ago. these are my stats (3x5):
BP 35kg -> 67.5kg
Squat 40kg -> 100kg
OHP -> 25kg -> 45kg
DL -> 60kg -> 105kg
bonus:
chinup +0kg x 3 -> +10kg x10
How many times a week do you go to the gym
you are going to make it brother, keep going.
I thought energy drinks were bad for the body? I might try drinking that though and see how it effects me.
I dont go to the gym, I want to start working out though but I kinda have social anxiety desu. I barely get through a normal work day and then having going to out again isnt that appealing to me. But if its something I have to do then I will do it.
Thanks fellow tradebro, hopefully we make it one day.
I predict if i go in it will go like this
>walk in awkwardly
>look around while pacing slightly
>go to counter
>hi-hhi i signed up online
>give name
>oh ok
>find a bench or something, if they don't have one of those im just done, if they show me around add me trailing them before this
>look at phone at random program
>either 'warm up' like a spastic or don't and go in bare balls
>go up to machine or put weights on
>awkwardly puts weights on bar and shimmy it on because i don't know it instinctively like most people
>walk out looking straight ahead and never go back as that guy
is this accurate? I don't naturally fit into new situations like most people do
Started just today! Did 10 pull ups and a 3pl8 squat!
>started stronglifts mid-june
>feel much better and lifts are progressing a bit slow but steady
>people noticing my gains already
20kg -> 30kg OHP
20kg -> 40kg Bench
20kg -> 60kg squat
40kg -> 80kg Deadlift
I've been on and off for years, started about 7 years ago with my mate who practically lives in the gym but I stopped going after about a year. Then I started again about three years ago on my own because my gym was on the other side of town from my mate but I got really fucking sick over the course of a few months so stopped.
Now I'm on my third attempt and I've forgotten nearly everything I used to do, but I'm determined not to let anything stop me this time.
we're all gunna make it bros, good job user.
>was a lineman in highschool but stopped lifting after I graduated
easiest way to go full bloatlord. whats nice is your gainz from highschool are achievable. my dl max is 496lbs and only took about 6 months to hit after not lifting SINCE hs at the ripe old age of 30yo boomer, 315 on the bench, etc etc.
muscle nuclei never went away cuz instead of skelly emaciation we went full bloat, feelsgoodbro
bro im tearing up with how cute u are. any1 else claim u as their twink?
