im a cop OP. Detectives are some of the hardest working people in the USA (assuming that's where your from) especially the fun kind like homicide and missing persons because time is such a finite resource. our homicide detectives work 70-80 hours a week EASY. you don't have any kind of life. Plus you're exposed to some pretty nasty shit. Most of them are alcoholics at the least.

seriously, nothing in life sounds better to me than sitting at a desk and every so often some jackass comes over like, "hey, I need you to make such and such for such and such project" and then spending the next while programming it, finish, do fuck all for a while, rinse and repeat. despite what you might think you're gona get burned out. that being said some people LOVE being detectives. if it's something you really want to do apply for a local police department. No one goes from the street to detective. you need to spend a certin ammount of time on the road. around here you're gona be on the road for 5-10 years before you are can even apply. Once you're a detective you're gona have to spend a few years working what you might consider bullshit cases like theft and fraud.Only the best get a shot at doing homicide which is what im guessing you want to do.

Only issue is my Heath insurance could be better but I usually just visit our utility's clinic for checkups and the like. But shit man my job is awesome.
