Here's the issue. Even if 1/10 girls I made eye contact with thought I was unattractive, let's look at risk reward. At worst I'll get called a creep, at best I'll find that 1 girl and get laid

never got called a creep, I mostly just hold eye contact if I notice a girl staring or side glancing me. I don't smile or approach because I don't know them, I just make it a mini game staring contest

Depends on context. Why you would you keep eye contact with a passerby? As for a date or a girl you know, eye contact is necessary it means you're confident, as for a date switch between eyes and her lips but only once in times.

bros I can'y handle walking in public anymore. the expectation of eye contact, trying to avoid it, making it then panicking and looking away, not knowing if i should say high o keep walking, it's killing me i hate it. i can barely even make eye contact when i see people i know and i dont know when to say hi or not.
it doesn't matter if it's boy or girl, although the anxiety is worse with girls it's still bad in general. just today somebody passed me by and said "hey" and i was so flustered i broke a sweat and just sped up. and the other day i was walking around and i had my phone out to avoid eye contact and somebody said "hey user" but i just kept going.

You can't even make eye contact with friends?

I can't make sustained eye contact with anyone, either looking right into the eyes or at the bridge of the nose. With a friend I can look them in the eye for a few seconds but I mainly look around them. I've been trying to get better but making eye contact with strangers hasn't improved, which sucks cause i live on a campus and there are plenty of people walking around.

When you pass someone on the sidewalk, it's typical to make eye contact with them for about a half-second, then look straight forward as you pass. If you're not sure about the timing just try to imitate others. Pretty much everyone does this.

Also: if you're listening to somebody, people fucking love it if you make extended eye contact while they talk. It shows you're interested. You could literally act like it's a staring contest and they would eat that shit up.

No it makes me really nervous and uncomfortable from anyone. Intense eye contact without the person smiling makes me feel like they're seeing right through me and thinking I'm a freak. Gentle eye contact during conversation without staring is okay when people talk to me. Making eye contact with a stranger from across the room makes me feel confomrtable. Not sure if this is normal but that's how it is for me.

Look at them when talking, but don't stare. Look away when you're not saying anything. If you're talking to a stranger, they may not say anything back. And that's okay too. I guess it's not really that complicated bro.

no. if the other person is saying something you want to look at them to show you're paying attention. it is only appropriate to look away when you do it automatically when you're thinking of something while talking.

I meant when you're having a conversation, obviously you'll be looking at each other while you're each talking. But after the conversation is over don't stare at them behind their back, it's creepy. You know what I mean?

Nobody expects you to make eye contact in the streets, just glance at them and keep looking ahead.
