OP here. If you look at the second picture I posted of the letter, she talks about my cousin. He actually spent some time in real, federal, fuck you in the ass prison, and while he was a little mentally touched, he got some letters that really helped. I brought that up in my letter.
The real truth? You've gotta send your address, and it has to be written on the letter. That's why I wrote to a non-violent offender whose lifestyle was similar to mine before the issue. Also, it was at a time where I was getting sober, and she was in there for killing someone by accident in a DUI.
I would highly, highly recommend that you don't write to anyone who is getting out anytime soon. This shit's kinda shocking to me, because who knows who she's gonna talk to about me? Who is she going to give my address? Describe my face? I'm not trying to sound hardcore and cool, but at the very least, if she sends people to break into my place for cash, I know the right guys to make sure it comes back.
I wrote the one girl about what I do for a living, gave her my address, and sure as fuck didn't expect that shit to go to anyone else. Hell, I thought it couldn't. My other tip from there is to communicate with someone super far away. Send letters to someone on the east coast if you're on the west. Their friends aren't going to drive cross-country for petty cash.
