/fast/ #473 - Balls of Steel Edition

What is /fast/?
Fast is a thread for the discussion of intermittent fasting, fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.
discord.gg/qqtQFDQ

>What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.?
Intermittent fasting: fasting for a certain amount of time with a short eating window. 20:4 (20 hours fasting, 4 hour eating window) is the bare minimum.
Water fasting: Fasting with only water. Retarded.
Dry fasting: Fasting with no water. Dangerous, use with caution.

>Why should I fast?

>How do I safely do an extended fast?
Take snake juice, or just supplement electrolytes.
Water=2L
Potassium chloride =1 tsp (Found in grocery stores as salt substitute)
>Sodium chloride = 1/2 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt best because of trace minerals. Not required)
Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda)
Mix these in 2L of water and sip it throughout the day.
[OPTIONAL] 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar and 4 tbsp lemon juice. DO NOT MIX with snake juice, drink separately.

>Won’t I go into starvation mode?
No. The mainstream definition of starvation mode is a myth. Read the FAQ linked below for more information.

>Will (something with calories) break my fast?
Yes.

>Can I drink coffee, tea, and diet soda? Or anything with artificial sweeteners?
You can do whatever the fuck you want. We recommend avoiding those, sweeteners especially.

>Do I need a multivitamin?
No. Your fat cells and bones store enough vitamins and minerals to get you through at least a 100 day fast.

Is it bad to masturbate multiple times whilst on a snake juice fast. Am i wasting valuable nutrients that my body needs.

Do we have any accounts how much weight one loses after a week? or a month?

I broke my SJ fast at 360 hours (15d) and ate whatever the fuck I wanted.
Weirdly enough, I didn't get the shits or anything. I am and fell just kinda bloated now. My intestines are probably full of gas and food right now
I don't care. I ate what I wanted for two days and tomorrow I'm going to do fast again. With building muscle in mind

day one of my 20 day fast almost done.
I did a 20 day fast before a few years ago but that was before people knew to take electrolytes so it should be easier this time around.

ya fapping gets rid of zinc pretty fast.
stop fapping

Reminder to me not to smoke because I'll get dehydrated.

I smoke and drink coffee in the morning during my fasts

What the fuck is wrong with me?

I literally have to say right now, that fasting has in a literal month turned my fat future, into a very real possibility of having a 4pack or sixpack, by september. At the beginning of july i was a fat fuck of 96 kg, but now i think i weigh literally under 90kg, and in only a months time, has this change happened. It is unreal, and i can just now see that the elusive sixpack musculus abdominis recti, are within my reach and by september i literally could have reached ottermode for the first time in my life. Fasting changed my life unironically very fast and for the better.

Stand fast people we are all gonna make it whether you like it or not.

I’m casually fasting so I can fit back into an old suit before a buddy of mine gets married in January. So far I don’t eat at all mon-tue/wed and then only eat dinner Thur and fri. Saturday Sunday I sometimes have breakfast and generally eat a bit more regularly with family/friends. Been doing this for 3 weeks now. Feel a lot better but no mind blowing results quite yet. Is this routine silly?

How do you guys deal with hunger? I did a 72h water fast last week, people say that hunger disappears after 36h but I was still hungry. Does it get better?

Attached: 1513656676690.jpg (1600x1070, 555K)

The lower back aches are your kidneys working overtime to get rid of all the nasty shit in your body. Drink your snake juice. The baking soda will help.

Did you remember to drink your own piss like Cole?

wtf are you supposed to do with baking soda? I get it, it can alleviate acid reflux symptoms but it's not good at even that.

I usually hear people saying that the hunger disappears after 72hrs, but I've never gotten past that point so I can't say for sure.

For me it usually does go away, although sometimes it subsists up till 4 days.
What however always stays around, is the need to bite in my jaw, and the feeling of my blood coursing through my veins. They bother me more than the hunger.

unironically stop being a bitch
wish I could give better advice but every person is different; your body should adjust over time, but I generally find that is correct.

you've been eating your whole life and now suddenly you're not getting food in your system, you think this is gonna be pleasant at all?

generally when I feel that sense of hunger lurking in my mind I always play some heavy metal that can power me through the ache:
youtu.be/S7blkui3nQc

red pill me on alternate day fasting to cut
will it kill my gains?

It's literally the only thing that'll kill my acid reflux

For me, I feel like the hunger does go away, but not the wanting to eat food.

Like, the difference between having to piss and wanting to jerk off for pleasure.

That's just boredom fucking with you, treat it like an addiction. You don't need it until you've met your /fast/ing goals.

I’ve been doing omad and it’s been working out for me. Wanted to ask for exercising per week how much calories should I lose/how many days a week I should do. Gimme examples of what you guys do.

I’m 5’10 weigh 195 lbs

someone redpill me on the water dehydrates you and saltwater hydrates you meme

i was always told never to drink saltwater if youre thirsty or it would kill you and actually dehydrate you and to drink 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated

>relapsed on shit food
>cravings are back after a month of solid 24/48 hour fasting with good refeeds
>I feel absolutely disgusting, I've never felt this way before in my life and I'd rather die than experience it again
Doing a 3 day dry fast to atone for my sin of gluttony followed by 2 days of water with electrolytes, depending on if this feeling of betraying myself hasn't gone by then.

How does one refeed after a dry fast? Baking soda water a few hours before refeed?

Why do I piss blood after breaking my fast?

It's ok to make a mistake. Just rebound and you'll be good to go. Only thing in life worth anything is looking like a greek god.

Cole explains this perfectly:
youtu.be/fURwtw_FYK0

FACT: 99.9% of fit healthy individuals accomplish their goals by eating healthy appropriately-sized portions of food, and working hard everyday.

I'm not anti-fasting (especially for people who are hugely obese and have binge eating disorders), and I have even completed a few very short fasts to challenge my willpower. And I'm glad you all have found your niche and you're all trying to make it..

But some posters ITT who act like fasting on salt water only, for 30 days at a time, for the rest of your life, is the only way to lose weight and be Jow Forums, are brainwashed and narrow minded fools. These posters spend way too much time on youtube watching videos (by posters with credentials/souces you don't vet), and buy it as Gopel. (No different from a cult member or a religious individual.) Take what these posters say with a grain of salt. You should go outside and socialize and spend more time with actual humans living in society, and talk with the Jow Forums people you meet. Ask them what they do to stay in shape. 99% of them will not say they do prolonged snake juice fasts. Try suggesting long term snake juice fasts to Jow Forums people you meet in your day to day life. Get some feedback from Jow Forums people you see in real life, rather than someone posting at a computer.

2/2

If you're new to these fasting threads, just be sure to take everything you read with a grain of salt. No one responding to you is a medical professional and just because they watched some video doesn't make the information contained within it correct. Every person is different but 99% of fit and healthy individuals eat healthy and workout daily and don't ever need to try drastic crash diets.

Trial and Error is your friend. Try out a routine for a few months, and if that doesn't work, try something different. I believe Fasting is a last resort after you've tried everything you can.

And NEVER fast because you think it's the easy way out. Many fasters ITT are only fasting because they are too lazy to work hard. Sweating and working out is hard. Cooking homemade healthy food and meticulously tracking your food intake is hard work. Don't chose to fast just because you want to be lazy and lay around all day, because once you finally start to eat again, you will gain back any weight you lost frok living a lazy sedentary lifestyle. Start developing active healthy habits NOW. Dont chose to be lazy your entire life.

Thanks for reading. And be safe. We're all going to make it (but most dont need snake juice fasting to make it).

Look you bitch I want to lose weight quickly. There's a guy at my gym who looks like Jonah Hill and after a year he has half the belly fat he had when he started but it's still a lot. I don't have time to still look fat after a year. I already shed 30 lbs of fat fasting and I want to lose some more.
And that statue you posted was made by some Greek sculptor who probably fasted while practicing stoicism.

don't respond to it, it's not even a genuine reply, it's just the same copypasta that gets posted to get a rise out of fasters who are already irritable from their fast

Just did this too a few days ago. One of the worst days, and the guiltiest I’ve felt in years I think. It happens user.

I'm working out at around 6am and eating between 10am and 2pm. Is this fine? Would I be better off eating later in the day so I have something in my stomach in the mornings? I don't feel morning hunger until about 9.

Alright bros, just finished 48 hours. Going for 96. 72 minimum. However today, the second day, was fucking rough. I'm drinking snake juice but I felt weak and tired all today, it's now just getting better and I am starting to get my energy back. My ketone levels are also very high, I have a urine testing kit for it. Did I feel weak and tired because of the ketosis transition? Just curious if it's normal to feel that weak and tired on the 2-3rd day of the fast. Thanks bros.

Attached: 1564601259001.jpg (738x960, 55K)

I think its going to depend on how much you refeed on the weekends. I'm doing 72-96 hour fasts on the weekdays and OMAD Thursday/Friday through Sunday. I'm getting pretty good results so far.

Probably the same poster. Gtfo with bullshit. Fasting is a godsend.

Another follow up. I'm getting acid reflex. How normal is this?

About a pound a day for 30 days then a little less than a pound a day until 6%BF

Im interested in the health benefits of fasting, but am not trying to lose weight I want to gain it (in muscle) could i bulk by intermittent fasting every day but eating 300+ kcals over tdee during my eating window? And then maybe once a week do a 24 hour fast?

When you guy say 48 or 72 hour fast, re you literally not eating? My research tells me fast for 24h, eat, and fast again for 24h every week.

How the fuck do you go on several-day-long fasts without losing muscle? Don't you need nonzero protein intake at some point?

in my experience, you do lose some muscle and strength during fasts longer than 3 days

ive been doing a 100 hour fast every 10 days and it usually takes me until day 6 (my 3rd lifting session) to get back to almost full strength...i did a 10 day fast once and it took over 2 weeks to get my lifts back to what they were pre fast. but the fat loss and body reset is worth the minor loss in strength

tldr: you can gain strength back faster and easier than you can lose fat, so fasting is worth it if your bf% is high enough

>reading black and white scans of SBR
INCREDIBLY based. The colored scans are gaudy and ruin Araki's beautiful lineart

Any of you guys smoking or vaping while fasting? Does it have any effect?

Are 0 calorie flavored waters okay to drink on an intermittent fast? They have artificial sweeteners in them and I am not sure how those work. I'm just dying for some flavor.

Attached: 1562879808030.png (1000x815, 695K)

if the only thing you are trying to do is lose weight then they shouldn't be a big deal but may slow progress depending on who you ask, to get all the health gains like autophagy and lower insulin you should only drink water or snake juice during the fast

kidney crystals, drink the kidney drink (apple cider vinegar + lemon juice, baking soda too just not with the other too)

Just found out about and started intermittent fasting yesterday. Seems to be going good, only question is can I still exercise the same or should I tone it down if I'm fasting.

Usually running 2-3 every other day and some light core and arm exercise.

*2-3 miles.

After a fast, does your body store calories as fat more, or is that just a normie meme?

Attached: 1541291370413.jpg (469x466, 30K)

What's the longest I can fast before I get the shits on a refeed?

Normie meme.

Thought as much.

Attached: 1545890472652m.jpg (1024x791, 134K)

This is the governor of Florida. Nice. You guys did well.

WAIT HOLD UP

Explain to me this pissing blood due to fasting and needing an apple cider vin/ baking soda drink to cure it? Wtf?

One 700kcal meal a day yay or nay?

Yeah, I adhere to fasting, and I think it is a great thing, but it is no substitute to exercising and eating healthy. However it is a prime tool to get rid of bad eating habits like eating irregularly, "kryptonite" foods, fast-foods in general. I've also found that I have a newly refreshed appreciation for cardio.

salt draws more water into the blood which in turn makes the pressure get higher and thats not good for your heart. source is my doctor.

oh shit bro I'm 96 kilos I could do it too

In my experience the second day is always the roughest. It gets generally better on the third for me.
You mean reflux? That is not good. Drink more water to dilute your stomach acid. Reflux could cause issues long-term, better feel like a living water barrel than have that.

It is all down what "benefits" you are looking for. The biggest and most looked after benefits of fasting are fatloss (lipolysis) and autophagy. Both only show themselves on extended fasting. However if you are still fine with the other benefits, it is still worth a try.

Yes, when they say 72 hours they mean not eating anything for three days.

Do you lift while you fast? I always figured that I become weaker because I've skipped training for days, but have no evidence for it.

On an intermittent fast? Sure. You are not going to get autophagy anyways. Some say that artificial sweeteners don't do you good, and they might be right, but consistency is more important. If you think that that the flavored water helps you go on longer, then go ahead.
I personally don't like them because flavors tempt me.

You should be able to train as normal on intermittent fasting. It even helps the whole process. Just beware of sugary stuff. More carbohydrates make keeping the diet harder.

While I never heard of pissing blood before (you should really see a doc with that), extended fasts put a little pressure on your kidneys. After very long period of waterfasting you could get stones.

So it is recommended to take apple vinegar and/or lemon juice once in a while that wash your kidneys clean. It's not just for fasting, but for regular kidney health.
youtube.com/watch?v=AgTGAPz-1M0

Do not anticipate or expect hunger to go away. You are fat in part because of your intense emotional attachment to food, it takes more than a few days fasting to break this.

The only thing that works on extended fasting is keeping my mind off it. The busier I can stay at work, the less "hunger" I have.

Some people say "oh it gets easy after day 4/5" but this is not my experience. Better to treat it as a pleasant surprise rather than expect it and be disappointed when it doesn't happen for you.

Attached: 398.jpg (600x899, 51K)

Based.

My experience has been truly life changing as well, I feel like I have a renewed lease on life, and the future is wide open for me to conquer.

I am almost thankful for the "lost years" I spent wallowing in aggressive caloric diets and insane exercise regimens, literally making weight loss 90% of my focus while somehow gaining weight, because it has made me appreciate how fucking good leaning out feels.

It's like the universe is giving me another shot. I will not fuck it up again.

>tfw it's all thanks to some perpetually enraged piss-drinking misogynist youtube manlet

STOP REPLYING TO THIS GUY

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS GUY IN FUTURE THREADS

Went for 40 hours without water and food, drank water again 2 hours ago.
To avoid shitting myself, is it okay to go with Rice and 2 boiled eggs tonight?

Rice is fine, but eggs are protein-rich, so they are a bit risky. Depends on the person.

I am trying to avoid too much carbohydrates. (Or is it "too many" for carbs?)

it's "many" since it's plural

Attached: 1562874372330.jpg (601x625, 73K)

Thank you yandere looking poster.

I think rice is a bit carbohydrate rich in that regard. Although I never tried dryfasting.
Personally the stuff that worked best for me was spinach, broccoli, peas, the green stuff.

>Any of you guys smoking or vaping while fasting? Does it have any effect?

I sometimes smoke shisha and jack off for 2-3 hours. It's faptastic, as it takes your mind off the food and time passes a lot faster that way.

Attached: crazy-shisha[1].jpg (252x450, 30K)

Is omad+keto the redpilled way of losing weight long-term? been doing it for a couple days and plan for atleast 30 days.

Broccoli with a bit of olive oil and garlic pieces?

it's what i did to go from 87 kg to 65 kg in about 4 months. i did this while studying and attending muay thai classes. i felt like absolute fucking shit 24/7, and it was also the only time i've been sick in the last 10 years. i ate around 900 calories every day, would obviously recommend to take it slower and eat more than that.

he never fast and he stronger and faster than you all skinny weak loser!!!

youtu.be/ZbmbCyC4xDo

Attached: Screenshot_5.jpg (509x542, 114K)

How much muscle mass did you lose, if any? I can't imagine 900cal can sustain you for that long without some diminishing effects, feeling like shit notwithstanding.

That should be very safe.

i honestly have no clue. this was before i got interested in building any muscle. i had no understanding of anything except for "eat little, lose fat", so that's what i did. one small frozen pizza that was 900 cal every single day for 4 months. there's no way i had enough proteins to sustain any type of muscle growth. my cardio was really good though (muay thai, of course).

wait i'm actually fucking retarded, i didn't notice the keto part, lol.
keto is nice for weight loss because there's so much calories for so little saturation in carbohydrates. otherwise, just stick to cico and you'll be fine.

The weight loss, de-bloating, and adrenaline/endorphin rush is great but can we all appreciate how much money we save by fasting? I save hundreds a month now, can buy excellent quality food for my refeeds, and have a hoard to spend on clothes (only problem is I'm waiting to get to my target weight to overhaul my fashion and my favorite pair of pants are getting way too big).

Attached: fph1.jpg (1000x635, 411K)

Attached: 1538701407792m.jpg (724x1024, 136K)

Thanks user, if I don't shit myself I will think of you.

I'd rather just fast than eat a frozen pizza everyday lol

Currently im eating a huge pile of vegetables and meat, i have trouble finishing it and it ends up being 1200 kcal at most.

Why is IF still considered fasting? An 8 hour eating period isn't fasting, it's normal. It's literally just skipping breakfast. That is not fucking fasting.

Vaping is fine for me. But when I have cig past the 24 hour mark my stomach gets really acidic and it can hurt.

>my research
what studies are you reading? Or are you talking about womens health magazine?

do it every third day.

>in /cgl/ thread
>thread becomes about fasting and losing weight
>"b-but fasting doesn't cure my self sabotaging behavior!!"
>"the only solution I've found is painfully slow therapy that marks progress in months to years, not fasting."
Why do fatties have to always make an excuse? Why is it when they fail to stick to their diet programs they act like it(fasting) is not a solution because they gave up and started binge eating? Bitch, the diet didn't fail you, YOU failed yourself.

Attached: nutin mattas.jpg (600x450, 41K)

Fatties find no joy in anything other than consuming large amounts of food. It's the only thing that keeps the existential dread from creeping.

is there any point in fasting if im already cut low bf% otter mode? or will it just kill me. I work out every day like 3 hours and have a physical job too

>just finished a 60-hour water fast
>ate a small lunch of some chicken, carrots, celery, and an apple
>felt a bit lightheaded for the next 15 minutes or so
Is that normal?

>is there any point in fasting if im already cut low bf%
yes
>will it just kill me
when your body runs out of fat it starts decomposing other parts

there are many logistical upsides

>no food shopping, prep, or cleaning
>no burning $$$ on restaurant meals or booze
>hardly ever need to shit

when you invest significant time/energy into promoting a belief, it becomes terrifying to consider that you might be wrong.

being right about it is tied to your personal sense of self-worth, so challenges are perceived as existential threats. easier to double down and blame elsewhere.

the root cause of this is primal psychological patterns that favor decisive thinking (as a survival buff) over self-doubt.

Does anybody know whether or not green tea will inhibit autophagy on a prolonged fast???
