what's the struggle? I'll bet no matter what it was, the guys at your bjj club said "i dunno move ur hips lol"

How does it feel knowing you bought into the marketing and are training to do judo for babies?

What is your q u e s t i o n

buttmad judoka with shitty groundgame spotted

also a white belt, what's up, just include the question in your OP my dude

I spit preworkout everywhere.

Judo castrated themselves with their own rules. While still a good martial art it could be so much better

Imagine having to take out of the best take downs because wrestlers kept dabbing on you

You start all your spars cuddling, in a real fight a judoka would leave you winded flat on your back before you you faggots even knew it. BJJ guys have shit standing game because they're scared of being injured, that's why it's so popular with boomers.

Im a former D1 wrestler "white belt" who absolutely tools every single person in my class, including the instructor. Funny part is i go to a Gracie affiliate school. I could pin every single person in 10-20secs except for one monster who id still beat 20 to nothing. The excuses I hear from people, especially higher belts, has made me lose all respect for BJJ, even though I've had mad respect for years because I'm such a big mma fan.

Problem is BJJ doesn't attract thr superior athletes. That's for wrestlers. These people can't grind, don't know what real competition is like and I have to throttle down constantly to keep people from bitching. Im embarrassed for them. I knew 3 subs before I got there. Kimura, arm triangle, RNC, and I can do them at will to anyone at my 188lbs. No one has even come close to subbing me. They got SO BUTT HURT they ran a gauntlet on me where I was subbing fresh guy after fresh guy, gassed, and still couldn't be beaten. I'll cut my blog short but I'm quitting today and will go look for a catch wrestling school where thr actual men/ athletes/ superior grapplers are.

TLDR; BJJ is a hobby. Wrestling is a lifestyle with a level of violence and brutality that regs can't handle. High level wrestlers need to find HIGH LEVEL bjj schools or you're wasting your time. Gracie schools are a joke.

lol shit that never happened on reddit is that way faggot

You must be a hobbyist BBJ "practitioner" that hasn't ever grappled a D1 wrestler and is completely unaware of the curve.

You’re a d1 wrestler you dumb fuck, go find a competition gym not 40 year olds doing it as a hobby twice a week. No shit a guy who’s a top athlete can beat up the 55 year old hobbiest black belt

The fabled BJJ cope. Keep playing MMA fight little man, the big boys know your place even if you don't.

It's all young guys, aspiring fighters, and guys who compete. Where tf do I go? These guys just can't grapple at a high level. Im just warning high level grapplers to be aware. I expected to get butt
fucked in there on day 1 and couldn't believe how awful everyone is. That's all im saying. And im a "white belt"
Lmfao

make your own wrestling thread nigger

I really don’t get what you’re bitching about. d1 is pretty much the cream of the crop so you are gonna have to look for the best in bjj to be challenged. Grappling is grappling and if you go against the best in bjj you will have a fight. Otherwise of course you’re gonna smash and kimura people in their own guard.

Purple belt in bjj is like 5-6 years. D1 wrestling is what? Starting when you are five and not stopping until college? You have like a decade of grappling experience. You need to look for the best to compete with.

That post wasn't me but I hear you. Im just annoyed they keep me at white belt when i could sub any 2 of them at the same time and im SORELY disappointed in the talent pool. Everyone had told me for yeeeears about how id get smoked so bad and I don't get it yadda yadda. BS, they suck. BJJ is completely nullified with American wrestling

You're right im just annoyed at the whole experience. I truly thought id learn things. I should be the damn instructor in there.

I get the hate on belt things but if you are afraid to be on your back then you aren’t really good at bjj. You may be able to beat them with wrestling but you’re not a complete grappler. A bjj guy with the same amount of matt time as you is going to sub you/challenge you. Just look for top gyms and check them out. They will gladly accept you with your experience.

I wanna do BJJ or similar but I'm still skelly. I'm finishing SL after getting kinds strong but I'm still skeletal, and not happy with my weak looking body at all.

Is it even possible to gain mass while doing BJJ or should I get bigger first. I'm not getting any younger at 25 tho.

it's worse. they did it because of viewership

keep in mind that you will lose weight doing bjj so you need to eat more
is it possible to make gains while doing cardio? yes
you need to eat

You aren't wrong about your first point but the issue is I will never end up on my back organically to find out. I think id ruin this class if my 17yo self came in. I'm not retarded, jacare would roll me into a ball and I know the high level guys are out there, but people for years have acted like they're high level at these gyms and they aren't AND they have shit attitudes. Sorry for high jacking the thread, I was literally thinking about this when I saw the thread and had to post. Shits just annoying.

You might gain a tiny bit but not much. Bjj is pretty much cardio. If you’re a skelly now you’re gonna have to eat like crazy. I’d say join anyways, I fuckin love grappling.

SL was made by a app developer and you expected to get strong?

That’s just egos. It’s pretty tough to see someone brand new come in with a white belt and just rag doll their instructor. Even more so doing totally “wrong” things like Kimora’s while in your guard. I just understand how high level d1 wrestling is so I wouldn’t let it get me, I do bjj for fun as a hobby. D1 means it’s your entire life.

>doesn't know shit about strength training

I am strong. I just don't look it.

Fair points. I'll have to find a different gym but I'll have to move to do so. I don't know of high level BJJ schools in the midwest and that's thr only way to keep competing in grappling after college. And yeah you're spot on, I can easily key lock/ Americana/kimura in guard and it drives people crazy. People just aren't used to the explosiveness.

I don't do BJJ but are you using strength to win rather than technique?

offer your services if they have a lesson slot. "BJJ standing class." no one claimed BJJ had a great standing game but you can make it that way if youre willing to teach other people.
if youre talking shit cause none of your rolling partners could stand a chance on their feet, no shit. but if youre on the ground with a guard puller and still smashing him then leave the blogging to tumbr and leave your gym.

Doesn't matter how im doing it, im doing it. Im obviously using wrestling technique and no one has any answer to it. BJJ guys love playing defense. It's not an offensive game to 99% of people, that's half their problem. That said I'm stronger than most anyone anywhere and that's because of aforementioned reasons.

I’ve had it happen to me when I was about two years in. I thought I was all hot shit and this brand new guy did that right in my guard in under a minute. I was honestly lost for words just thinking about how wrong that was and how it shouldn’t work, but it did. Once I realized he was an accomplished wrestler it softened the blow of some brand new guy completely nullifying the thing I have trained for for multiple years.

the two arent mutually exclusive. technique is applied strength. the stronger you are, the easier it is to use good technique

What do you mean standing game? Showing them how to shoot? Pfffft they make me start on my knees now because they know better. No one is interested in learning actually effective wrestling techniques. They want me to trip people to get them down lmao

I heard that BJJ people get butthurt if you use more strength than technique.

Did OP ever actually return with a question? Or did that larping D1 wrestler derail the thread? I’ll answer your question before I go to bed.

t. BJJ black belt

If there is an MMA class with open mat nogi grappling on the side, should I go to the open mat as a complete beginner? Or will I just get destroyed by people who aren't interested in teaching me anything?

so dont be a cunt and ease them into the technique. all your badass wrestling experience aside, you arent bulletproof. check the attitude or sooner or later your gonna meet the fucker that puts you out permanently

its a fair criticism yes. also, checked

Any wrestler would fuck you up you edgy faggot. How does it feel spending years getting a black belt in a useless martial art? Is it because you needed to be with other virgins who shared your interest in tapout and affliction clothing?

I definitely wouldn't take that happening to you hard and im trying hard not to be an ass sounding full of myself but wrestling is an entirely different game (I now realize this). Wrestling is so much more offensive and just violent. BJJ is wrestling while being friends with the guy where wrestling is I'm trying to kill you. Once I get wrist control, it's a total wrap. I realize now im on a different level, I'm just really surprised bennette I was expecting to get rolled into a ball like everyone promised me would happen for years. Also, they resent my presence, instructor included, and it makes them pussies in my eyes. No one wants my advice, no one wants to learn, they ask act like im cheating by dominating them. It's just a totally different environment than im used to.

But I’m from eastern PA, home of arguably the best folk style wrestling in the country, and our wrestling coach at my gym was an Olympic alternate. I’ve been wrestling since I started BJJ.

How does it feel?

wait so you do offer to teach them?

Dude im not a cunt. Im not out green lighting people and taking advantage of them. I love grappling and don't act like that. Also if you could read you'd see that I came in there totally humbled. Also no one is "putting me out permanently" what fairy tale land do you live I'm where people do that to each other? Oh yeah, the one where all the freshly humbled BJJ guys want revenge. Im sure if I ever do get caught over there they'll crank it and then I'll kill everyone in the whole gym.

Any MCMAP master race in here?

So that's a yes to being edgy and the tapout and affliction shirts lmao good luck getting laid hahaha

yeah until it turns into 80s brazil part two: dead wrestler addition. i was referring to force multipliers like guns and knives

Yes. No one wants to listen and thinks BJJ techniques are superior despite me being there as proof to thr contrary. These guys can't shoot and don't want learn, don't want to take advice on how to lay weight on top, aren't interested in any of the setups I do to them CONSTANTLY to get them where i want, nothing. And a lot of my advice is contrary to what the instructor says so it makes it even tougher. The pool of guys in BJJ are not like wrestlers. I don't get it at all.

Why would a gun or knife end up in a grappling gym? What in the ever living fuck are you on about?

Shut up, web belt.

Funny how every BJJ guy has to bring up their wrestling background to validate their skill. Almost as if their homoerotic well marketed "martial art" is a joke.

>B-b-but it dominated UFC!!!!

Guess what faggot the strikers caught on and learned to fight without getting grappled and now they're on top yet again.

then you should leave that gym. my gym is mainly and mma gym with sambo and combat JJ. I just take the regular bjj class but i do take advice from the sambo instructors and former wrestlers (we have 3). id like to know how to shoot better without having to fight like hell to stay out of a guillotine

sounds like they were buttmad someone athletically talented actually tried and didn't go soft

you should google what happened in the between the gracies and luta livre schools

D1 wrestler from PA here, join a better gym then you stupid faggot... if you're serious about grappling move to SD or NYC, you never want to be the best in the room, unless your teaching

You really just need to find a higher level school. This is like a worlds bjj black belt going to a local high school and crushing them then complaining about how they shouldn’t be afraid of being on their back.

>Mad because learned a useless impractical martial art

Attached: 1565152920133.jpg (635x636, 80K)

I think I will. There's a 10th planet somewhat local to me but I don't know if they'd be any better. Honestly I'd prefer no gi. I seriously don't think I'm the hottest shit on the planet, I honestly got onto BJJ to become a better grappler, I currently teach wrestling as an assistant at a middle school, and I LOVE grappling, it's my life. Maybe I got a shit school but I thought going to a Gracie affiliate would prevent that.

Work with thr grapplers you have there. Most wrestlers are the nicest guys around and should be happy to help if you actually want to learn and are sincere. I really want to learn to work off my back more but I want someone to actually get me there and have a real match

I SAW THAT MEME ON FACEBOOK YOU WEEB FAGGOT NIGGER JEW FUCKER.

JK you alright.

if your gym isnt devoted primarily to improving the viability of grappling and striking styles against other arts, its a bad school to learn from

Points taken. Im just complaining because tension has been high in there, I'm not learning shit, and I thought Gracie schools is where id find what we're talking about here. Totally agree about being the best in the room.

Judo has the most meme rules imaginable, i bet you cant even throw somebody with a wrestling stance.

BJJ it's for hipsters, corporatists, liberals and homosexuals
Sambo it's for real man

>I thought Gracie schools is where id find what we're talking about here
nigger its not 1998 anymore, you got memed

Please shill for a martial art you dont train some more.

Can't argue with this

Bump

yeah no dont fall for that meme. the gracies started a cult, thats all. 10th planet takes into account striking but i heard the atmosphere in those gyms gets really weird cause it attracts a lot of people you wouldnt think of as combat arts types

That's who im trying to avoid. I want actual serious athletes in there who all want to be the best and train like it. Maybe im kidding myself and I won't find an environment like what I had in HS and college. Everyone is a damn hobbyist.

what state are you in m8?

save your shekels and drop in at unity or atos and see how you feel then

yeah gonna be 100 with ya chief, i dont see that happening. theres not really much motivation for that after you get past peak fighting age.

Actually m8 i do Sambo im from Ukraine and i went to a BJJ gym in France while travelling and destroyd those faggots with the takedowns

takedowns or throws. BJJ doesnt train for throws. thats judo

>i went to a BJJ gym in France
>France
>BJJ
jesus you and the wrestle faggot are such morons honestly....
but still usyk bless

I really don't want to say because there's only so many Gracie schools in this area and I'm not trying to embarrass an instructor and fuck up his shit/ get doxxed.

What is unity/atos

That's a damn shame

so your in east bumffuck then?

so how's BJJ effective on the street if you don't throw your enemy?
what you are going to do big man? beg him to get down on the ground?

dunno man. im just a hobbyist. i do the grappling thing for fun

High level bjj comp gyms Unity, Marcelo Garcia, Renzo Gracie in Manhattan... and in San Diego is Atos, Aliance, JJ University, way more too in most major cities

dont really got an answer man. most BJJ schools are focused on competition. take mma classes if you want "IRL fighting"

No im I'm a pretty big city

Thanks for the info

WTF are you talking about? BJJ trains both takedowns and throws.

its not too great alone on the street, wrassling if your still in highschool and boxing.... then add bjj and MT with some MMA eventually. then youll be ready 4DaStreetz

name a BJJ throw

You will do this: youtube.com/watch?v=wCj0IfpFjqY

Then buddy, it goes all on the window if the attacker has a gun or a knife or you are outnumber.
I train martial arts because i like to fight but i also carry a Glock 19.

this has been a terrible BJJ thread lads, good job you bums

Attached: arkravmagakids.teens.self.defence-1.jpg (1764x1200, 469K)

I think your biggest problem is the school. I’m lucky that I started at a high level MMA gym. So even though our class is called “bjj” we learn judo, sambo and wrestling. It’s fucking great

implying a person trained in Krav Maga wouldn't disarm you in seconds

Attached: From-the-Mat-to-the-Classroom-Performance-Krav-Maga.jpg (600x432, 44K)

WTF are you talking about, a throw is a throw and a takedown is a takedown as long as its legal

You can do a firemans carry in BJJ and not judo even though its a judo technique.

You can do trips, shoulder and hip throws in BJJ and Judo

What is encompassed in a sport is whats taught.

Guard pull

I'm sure. But i train Wing Chun and Aikido so i would counter his Krav Maga with my imaginary power agaist his imaginary power.
