It was just a map of the world that anyone could put a pin on with a description. I think you could message people through the site but everyone just included throwaway emails. The site was also subdivided into sections for channers and other sites, I forget which exactly. Kept things a lot more casual that your usual dating site with a whole profile and pics and all that.
