It's a decent option if you're completely new at working out tho. I started with crossfit and it was an easy and lazy way to get into fitness.

This. My american (white) roommate started doing crossfit. It's literally filled by moronic whites that do stupid unnecessary shit. Especially women

random exercise selection, no proper recovery time, no progressive overload. If you want minimal gains and to stay small, crossfit is good. Big crossfitters either lift properly separately or roid.

Honestly I thought it was a very racist atmosphere. I have been to 3 crossfit gyms as a black man and every single one was filled with whites (and the occasional asian/hispanic) they acted weird to me. I would rather not be in a hostile environment like that. I mean just look at your pic the best crossfit "athletes" are white whereas all of the best real athletes are black.

Well I am currently 29, and my wife turns 30 in 4 months. So far neither of us have been injured. A lot of the stupid movements (Hand-stand pushups, any type of fast deadlift or snatch) we both skip because the reward doesnt out weigh the benifit.

Also it seems like a common misconception is there are only high rep workouts. We have a dedicated portion of weight lifting every day at the gym. Usually low reps with high weights. every 12 weeks we test for a new max.

If you just want to get big, you can read the sticky and get a cheap home gym setup for better results on a smaller budget.
If you're a normie and like social clubs, without caring about gains all too much, crossfit might be the best choice (as long as you avoid doing stupid shit).

you do both, we lift in the beginning of class then do the high rep/high intensity workout. Pretty much all gyms are like this.

So the first 30 or so minutes are conventional weightlifting then the last 30 or so is "crossfit style workouts".

in my eyes crossfit is more of a thing for women, they love group workouts and stuff. most guys would rather have a routine specific to their goals and needs instead of just doing generic WOD type stuff where the main focus often is the community and noot pushing yourself individually. Atlest that is the general vibe at the crossfit gyms here, they do all types of exercises from oly lifting to powerlifting to strongman. And they arent horrible in those areas but in the end anyone who has trained one of these aspects seriously for even 6 months blows them out of the water. Which is understandable, they only ever do a few reps here and there maybe have a bunch of sessions but that's no way to learn complex movements. The way real olympic weightlifters train is they do that movement over and over and over again and ingrain it into their brain. Day in day out they train this fucking movement, ofc to them a crossfit dude doing these movements looks like a 5y old who is just starting their sport.

And all this wouldnt be a problem if some crossfit dudes didnt act like they are the "elite" in these sports they barely even understand. I did a few workouts with the crossfit guys as one of my coworkers often goes there, most of them were pretty weak and the weights they were using werent impressive at all. Nevertheless it was actually quite a lot of fun to work out together with them and will do it again. However if you train for strength the way they train at that specific gym isnt gonna give you that. However if you want to be fit and prefer the social aspect of it I can see why people like it.

it is exercise selection. The concept of high rep conditioning is good, but don't use technical lifts like the olympic lifts or deadlifts. Also most CF coaches are shit and will let your form go to shit to push out those last couple of reps.
Competition is good, but to push yourself to the limit every workout is bad. You will overreach.
And at last the top crossfitters don't even do crossfit outside of competition.

because it's not objectively worse, simple as that. it is just different, if you actually went to a crossfit gym and worked out with them you would know. not everyone wants to go to a gym and follow the same monotonous routine day in and day out - sure it might give the best results in terms of strength and performance but for normies that doesnt matter that much. in crossfit gyms you get tons of variety in training and can try out a ton of different stuff alongside learning olympic lifts and doing group workouts with your mates. It is a far more social and interesting activity than doing Bench, Squat, DL, Row, OHP and their variations every week. One week you do some Navy Seal training, next week strongman type stuff and maybe the week after that mostly oly lifting.

So for normies they can have a more social environment, more variety and still get fit and look decent. Could they pay 1/10th and look better and be stronger ? Sure but they wouldnt be because the atmosphere in the gym and the way that works doesnt work for them as well. And I get it, I went to a crossfit gym my mate invited me when some Navy Seal instructor was there and it was a ton of fun to push yourself getting yelled at by all your mates to go to your limit. Does it make sense for regular strength training ? No but it is a ton of fun working out all day doing hard exercises and having fun with your mates. Different things for different people.

I think nobody is saying Crossfit gives the BEST gains or makes you the strongest here though. But bashing it based on that doesnt make sense to me as it is so different.

Usually much more social than a normal gym, atleast in my experience. Generally more variety in training styles and exercise selection and more geared towards conditioning. Will it make you the strongest guy you could be ? No. Will it teach you oly lifts as well as a real weightlifting gym ? No. Will it turn you into a cardiofag who can compete with real cyclists ? No. But for many people it's a lot of fun and you will be somewhat of a jack of all trades master of none kinda athlete and have a decent body. Sure someone who trains specifically for one area will outshine you in that, but to many people that doesnt matter and they prefer the way crossfit does things.

Olympic lifts are some of the most intensive weight lifts you can do and put extreme stress on your joints if you perform them even slightly incorrectly. Crossfit autists have been seen in their little boxes doing these lifts for high reps at high speed, usually with very poor form under 1 or more plates. That's just begging for injury.
