according to some starting strength video I watch, there's not reason to go over 20 reps.

Depends on the exercises. If you're doing calisthenics for hypertrophy you'll be going well over 30 on some exercises.

You can go way higher than that and still get hypertrophy, hell, in some cases you can get more hypertrophy doing crazily high rep sets.
Hypertrophy is caused by more than just applying mechanical tension to a muscle over time, stuff like hypoxia/occlusion and metabolic stress can also cause drastic stress to muscles and induce hypertrophy.
Tom Platz would do borderline ten minute long squat sessions with 225 and not even count the amount of reps he was doing, some cyclists get huge legs with essentially no traditional reps but continuous motion.

I think the idea of "more work = bad" stems from men who are unwilling to suffer pain.
5 sets of 10 puts you in way more pain than a heavy 3x5.

I do 1.5 plates 10×10 squats. Im so afraid of snap city to go heavier than 2 plates (live alone home gym) and im seeing insane gains. Gonna start doing this with other muscle groups.

10x10 sets are pretty legit. Look up dogcrapp training, he incorporates some 10x10 sets and weighted stretching and it gave me some solid gains.

Im thinking about switching all of my lifts to 10×10 at like 50% 1rm it seems like you're not doing anything cuz the weight feels so light but at like set 6 it's fucking intense!
