Uncle going vegan

Learned my uncle (60) is going vegan for the first time in his life. I wanted to make sure he doesn't kill himself does Jow Forums have any decent charts to help with this? He does carpentry for a living and is very active. No convincing him to not be a fool isn't an option.

Omg i want to be in that room.
BUMP

make sure he supplements b12

Mmmmm… imagine the smell.

i dont know why but meat is the easiest food i found to feel energetic and satiated with for weight loss can't eat more than 1500 cals of steak and i don't feel any need to eat anything else for the rest of the day
do that with any other food and I could hit 2-2.5k and still feel hungry a few hours later

Make sure he takes a bunch of supplements.

if hes willing to at least eat a serving of oysters or some other shellfish once or twice a week that would help him avoid a lot of the deficiencies on the vegan diet

make sure that nigga eat flax

it's Salt Lick barbecue near Austin, TX. Been there myself ujelly

Yes, somewhat.

Flax seeds? Ok.
I already said telling him not to be a fool is a no go. He is doing this for emotional reasons. He'll be off it in like a few months but until then I want to help him out.

If he has money, stay on his good side so you can be in his will. Vegans die young.

Based on the onions intake associated with health benefits in the epidemiologic studies and the benefits noted in clinical trials, optimal adult onions intake would appear to be between two and four servings per day.

Forgot this one:

Veganism causes broken bones:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21092700
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17299475

>MATERIAL AND METHODS:
We examined a family on vegan diet which consisted of parents and two children.

if we're calling anecdotes studies, my hand got crushed by a car and i didnt break a single bone.

He is 60, did you even read the OP?
You are not being helpful.

Do you have any scientific evidence at all that veganism does not cause broken bones?

Do you have any charts or graphs on a healthy vegan diet?

Charts and graphs about a vegan diet in regard to what? I'm not going to indulge in the fantasies of a group of individuals with eating disorders.

In regards to helping my uncle for the few months he'll be into this until he moves on from it. I am not here to defend a vegan diet. I am asking for help on how to keep him as healthy as possible until this passes. Which is exactly what I wrote in the OP.

Yeah that's not going to happen. There is no "healthy" for an individual with an eating disorder, there is only death.

If you are unable to answer the question then just say so. Telling me veganism isn't any good is a waste of time, I already know that.

other than my hand being fine after a car falling on it, nah.

You've got your answer then so take it and shove it up your ass then get the fuck off this website you retarded cunt

I don't have it, actually. So I will stay until I do, but thank you for your time anyway.

not that guy but currently doing a lot of reading on this.
You're gonna want to look up all the vitamins vegans tend to be deficient in and get a multi vitamin and supplement.
most importantly b12, vitamin D and creatine.
You can get all the shit you need in most protein powders/meal replacements (look for ones with a lot of vitamins on the back)

again he'll need NEED b12 or hes going to suffer brain damage.
creatine deficiency is very temporary and common, you can fix that in a month but its still not fun having a shit memory.
Also iron and calcium arent that hard to get, he can eat a bunch of potatoes and lentils but make sure he gets a blood test every few months.

Thank you, i'll talk to him about supplements and such. I am hoping once I sit him down and explain how complicated it can get he will change his mind, but if not I don't want him dying in the next few years because of this phase he is going through.

based fucking salt lick

no cut has ever survived a direct encounter

hey if he actually does it right its probably a good idea.
Only problem with a vegan diet is its either a pain in the ass or its unhealthy.
It sounds like he's doing this for moral reasons so just tell him to get whole milk from farmers, its cheaper than all the supplements and the cows are treated nice.

His dog is dying and will soon have to be put down and he isn't exactly young. Fear of death is making him turn to a healthier way to live or so he thinks.

If you can try to get him to compromise at vegetarian or pescatarian, but in any case it’s supplement time

Honestly if hes really scared and looking into it he'll probably know better than us

>Going vegan at 60

This is actually not so bad, he has a lifetime of healthy eating where he stored up abundant nutrients for hard times (such as joining a starvation cult)

He has several years, maybe 3? Maybe 5? Before the deficiencies start to damage his health.

Attached: 1561837316572.png (1280x800, 585K)

>I am not here to defend a vegan diet. I am asking for help on how to keep him as healthy as possible until he passes.

That is fucking cynical bro, but we all know Veganism means death.

Yeah what you're saying is pseudoscience. The theory of "nutrient storage" was disproven approximately seventy years ago.

If he's a fat bastard, then being vegan will do him good to lose weight. If he's healthy/fit though, then I would advise against it.

Just make sure he knows where to get each macronutrient from appropriate vegan sources. Also, be very wary of the increase in fiber and staying hydrated.

Just get him a big box of vitamins and he'll be better off than most vegans lol

what the fuck are you on about?

He's going to seriously harm himself if he goes on a vegan diet while working manual labor.

Even if he keeps high protein?

What he needs to do is replace the meat in his diet with double the amount of a high protein vegetable. So if he eats 1/2lb meat every day, he should eat a lb of beans every day.

Attached: Protein Bioavailability.jpg (562x310, 41K)

the liver does store vitamin A as well as vitamin b12 you idiot, that's why eating beef liver will give you a lot of both.

Right and what does that do for a starving person? How would eating beef liver help a person when there is no beef liver available, hence the starving?

ignore him, he's in literally every thread that mentions vegan diets. i mean every single thread.

Thats because insulin inhibits the hormones that tell you that you are full, insulin also facilitates putting fat and hinders bodyfat use (because you body understands that in nature the only time you would be eating a lot of carbs is before the winter, when there are fruits around)

You make me proud, nice to see someone is using the thread I made the other day

You're assuming synthetic vitamins are the same as those produced by plants and animals, when in reality there are plenty of studies showing, for example, only vitamin C from plant foods have any benefits

Warriors against the vegan menace should recite these passages in any encounter they have against those infernal creatures, forsooth

>Warriors against the vegan menace should recite these passages in any encounter they have against those infernal creatures, forsooth
The most important passage is this one
>Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
>2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
>3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

>You're assuming synthetic vitamins are the same as those produced by plants and animals
synthetic vitamins are used to avoid and reverse deficiences in both animal and human models all of the fucking time
for instance s o ybean oil is used to reverse essential omega 3 deficiency in humans on IVF despite not being nearly as efficient as something like fish oil
vitamin b12 in synthetic cyanocobalamin form is used all the time in animal feedlots and it 100% prevents b12 deficiency even in animals that don't eat their own shit, meat and dairy industries have exactly fucking zero room for error in this instance as such they only follow through supplementation in livestock if it actually works and prevents losses in revenue.
Cyanocobalamin has been studied the most out of any other vitamin b12 form in humans and it works, if for some reason people have problems assimilating b12 from their diet there is no way of fixing it except with injecting b12 and no food source could ever make up for it.
>for example, only vitamin C from plant foods have any benefits
that's because vitamin C is an anti oxidant with a similar structure to glucose, vitamin C efficiency is amplified in conjunction with other antioxidants like flavonoids and isoflavonoids.

Literally all of these have been debunked, for processed carbohydrates and vegetable oils have not been taken into consideration, and they have been proven to cause all of these things. Everyone eats meat, but what percentile of the population eats predominantly meat?

If hes doing it to reduce risk of heart attack tell him there is no need to go fully vegan. 60% meat 40% plants is more than enough.

How old is Dr krapper, and how did he last so long on the early death diet?

He'll be fine. He won't ever get huge because he can't easily exceed calorie and protein reqirements for muscle gain, but he's your uncle so he's probably a dyel faggot anyway.

If you really want to be healthy, then most of your diet whether you're a vegan or not should be coming from whole food sources like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. It's entirely possible to eat an unhealthy diet with it still being technically "vegan" (eating oreos and potato chips). The main focus of any diet should be elimination of processed foods and added sugar and oils (excepting possibly fish oils). You should take a daily supplement (one that contains B12 in particular) no matter what diet you are on. Also remember that no diet is "healthy" if you don't exercise regularly.

True, but there is a massive disconnect between what the vegan "Doctors" preach (healthy plant based whole foods diet) and what the vegans themselves actually eat.

Watch any vegan and they eat tofú as the main course, fake eggs, fake milk, fake yogurt, fake meat etc, all of which is just highly processed highly refined soya/pea protein isolate etc reconstituted chemical sludge.

Not that I care, I want all veganer to get sick and die off as soon as possible.

If he's religious you can tell him the vegan diet is in fact with malicious of forethought the invention of christian cult created by a bat shit witch named Ellen G. White, Seventh Day Adventist.

Kathleen Zolber, Adventist, became President of the American Dietetics Association in 1981
A Kathleen Zolber

Kathleen Zolber, chairman of the Department of Dietetics in the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda was elected president of the American Dietetic Association in September, 1981. At the time the Association represented 42,000 professional dietitians and nutritionists and within a year of her Presidency the first vegetarian position paper was being written.

Vegetarianism was fully accepted by the American Dietetic Association (now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) in 1988.

Of the nine reviewers of the Position of the American Dietetic Association on Vegetarian Diets, every single one had a Vested Interest in a positive outcome. 8 of the 9 reviewers were vegetarian/vegan, while the other person was tied to the processed food industry and ILSI.

Five reviewers were from the Seventh Day Adventist Church including Kathleen Zolber, as a past president of the ADA.

Fake citations.

Ah, I knew that I knew that pit. The all you can eat barbecue is awesome. Just tell them to fuck off with the cheap ass veggie shit.

First study is a questionnaire shit already, gonna click through this at home though to be fair. Also meat being bad doesn't disprove veganism being bad

I mean if I wasnt lifting weights and wanted to look big and athletic I would also go vegan. Will probably do that in my 40s or 50s when I plan to mostly do endurance type stuff.

Just skimming the abstract---

>Of the 131342 participants, 85013 were women (64.7%) and 46329 were men (35.3%)

The survey uses double the amount of women as men. Women live longer than men, this can always be used in these pro-vegan biased studies put on by vegan boiler room outfits like Harvard.
>After adjusting for major lifestyle and dietary risk factors, animal protein intake was not associated with all-cause mortality.

The study itself states this clearly, animal protein intake not associated with all cause mortality. If they were 1% honest (((they))) would just state that and conclude the study.

But no they go on and on and parse it down and find one category (people with a high risk lifestyle behaviour like smoking or being obese) and declare that "for them" yes, for this one group look meat intake increasing mortality. Then the headlines expand that to something the study itself does not find.

tl;dr this vegan "science" is all jumped-up bullshit propaganda crafted by the vegans themselves to push their cult.
