have you heard of Dr. John Money's experiment of your specific question; "Brenda" Reiner was brought up as a girl due to, I shit you not, a failed circumcision - the Dr. wished to do an experiment and the gullible mother agreed to doing it as she didnt know any better; they performed sex reassignment surgery on the baby.
In the early years, John Money wrote of hus success in his book, as supposedly "Brenda" Reiner was a girl due to her wearing girl dresses, playing with dolls etc. However, as was later disproved by Dr Diamond, Reiner never fully thought he was a girl, he was just forced to do so (regular doctor visits from Dr Money)
Anyway, as soon as puberty hit, it all went downhill due to excessive bullying, being called a "cavewoman" by other girls.

You've got things a bit mixed up. For one thing, they never performed SRS on "Brenda", they just removed what was left of his penis after the circumcision destroyed much of it.
