OHP is my favorite lift, shooting for 2 plates soon. Came back from a bit of a relapse and time off the weights for a few months and decided to get stronger than ever.

OHP going up by ~5lbs every week or so, feels glorious. Noob gains won't last forever though.

Whats you're best so far? OHP is a bitch of a lift so going up 5 pounds a week is great. Even if you're new.

117.5 kg squat 3x5 yesterday, still on linear progression so going for 120 kg tomorrow. My press movements are a giant bitch though, I only add 1.5 kg per week to those and they are way behind.

80lbs with barbell, but I've been switching to DBs at 35lbs each. Started at ~20lb DBs.

Why did you move away from barbell OHP?

Prd all within the last month,
Deadlift 315x5
Bench 185x1
Squat 245x1
@135lbs 5'8 feels good boys

Failed my first set of barbell OHP since starting SL 5x5 six weeks ago. Made it to 5, 5, 5, 4 and 3 at 95lbs. Haven't failed a set on any of my other lifts yet though, next session my DL will be 200lbs , squat 190, 1pl8 bench, 155lb barbell row (this is all including the bar). For the first time in my life I'm starting to feel strong and in control and I'm loving every minute of it. My goal is to be able to at least bench 2pl8 by February 2020. 1/2/3/4 would be a huge moment for me, but I'm staying away from snap city if I can help it. 184lbs @ 5'9" ~20-22%bf

Good work on sticking with your legs, get that 3 plate in the next while and keep pushing!

You are quite light man, great numbers for your weight though.

Despite the memes around here, everyone always assumes the bar weight is included.
2 plate bench will come quicker than you think unless you decide to cut for a few months in between Feb and now.

just hit 345 on the deadlift yesterday, i fluctuate between 125-128 pounds. feelsgoodman

In a linear progression
Last week prs
DL 147 kg x 6
Squat 94 kg x 10
Bench 78 x 9
OHP 52 kg x 3
@74 kg 5'10

Gonna need to see a video on that.

85kg squat, which made symmetric strength go from calling my squat untrained to novice.

Dude hitting a new color level on symmetric strength drove me to get my strength up for a very very long time. I played a ton of WoW growing up so the colors felt like I was upgrading my gear, but it was my body instead.

Wtf are those sets? 6, 10, 9, 3 reps? Is your IQ 3000000000 or 3?

gathered all maxes last week

bench 190
dead 310
squat 295

You're approaching 2/3/4 man keep going!

Those rep numbers seem odd for a linear progression program... Typically the reps are lower. What program>

Thanks user, I actually changed my program around a bit to include more upper body volume as I stalled a few times on my press already. Hopefully that will remove my purple tits.

Anecdotally, I think it was when I was all green up top (legs were teal still cuz I fucked my lower back up) that I felt like I finally looked like I lift weights.
I can't bench press anymore... but weighted dips with my feet swung slightly forward hits my chest pretty well, give it a try if you want something new to do.

I finally hit a 225lbs clean and jerk!
Bodyweight of 153lbs. Current plan is to maintain back squats so I can get depth on 3pl8s perfect, (best was 315 for a set of 5, but depth was sorta iffy) and boost up my front squat. Main focus is only olympic weightlifting right now, but I guess after I maxx out on squats, I'll go for double bodyweight bench for the memes.

How are you guys so strong at such low weight lol? Maybe I just train hypertrophe way too much or something.

When I first started lifting properly (I was always in the gym, just had no clue what I was doing, just doing random machines and such) I focused mainly on strength training since I was still doing sports and whatnot. After I quit doing sports, I still enjoyed strength training, so I just kept it up. A big part is just proper diet + rest and recovery IMO. And LOTS of time spent under the bar. It may be boring to do the same movements and such, with little variety, but that's just how you get CNS gains IMO.

Also, I'm still not that strong, small Chinese girls can still out-lift me lol

>there are boomers posting on Jow Forums right now

impressive lift regardless OP. my goal is a handstand pushup for a few reps. i can currently do pike pushups with my legs elevated ~3 feet. I weigh 83 kg.

Lads this week has been going great so far
OHP 135x6
Bench press 85 lb dumbbells for 6 reps
Today I squatted 230 lbs for 6 reps
also yesterday I got laid and my dick worked. Nofap noporn day 11
Hopefully I can make some gains

Relative to your weight you are quite strong.

awesome lift
I planned to go for 2pl8 earlier in this year after I hit 200 lbs (would have been possible with bloatmaxxing), but then decided to cut until end of year to looksmax my chubby face away (so far I cut from 240 to 225 @ 6'5", and am still at 200 lbs OHP)
maybe next year or after I am on a surplus again

OP here...I'm 33 and Jow Forums is where I got started lifting 5 years ago. Only Jow Forums board I've ever used and I still appreciate some of the humor here while I'm sitting waiting for tickets to be submitted (IT). Reddit is dogshit.
The wiki here ended up being my fucking bible and to this day its amazing information for new people and I honestly would not be where I am today without Jow Forums. I'll never completely leave, but you'll find me making positive threads that actually discuss fitness and lifting.
Jow Forums changed my life for the better.

Nice op. I've been training for 2 years and this place really made me a better person. What routine did you run to get your ohp above 200? Or is it just a matter of eating more
also looking good bro

I use nSuns for my squat and OHP. I like the varied rep schemes and the volume.

Pretty much my exact numbers, I'm 2 weeks into 5x5. May our gains be plentiful

Wholesome post

Amen brother

You are too kind mane. But, I have a long ways to go. We are all gonna make it.
