We tried in April 2016. For a week, R9K was on fire. Every thread was getting fucking destroyed with spam as a mass protest against the state of the board. It got so intense that it was rumored at some point that the mods were considering just deleting r9k. That would have been the best option, but eventually they decided against it and just banned everyone who was spamming. And it ended with that, sadly.

Actually /b/ is far better these days because the massive amount of traffic it gets causes content to move really fast which makes it really hard to do psyops there. Threads barely last and people forget about what you post in like the next minute after the thread is pruned. The low (traffic) and slow nature of r9k means that a small group of people can have almost full control over the board, and the fact that threads stay up for days sometimes means that you really have time to hammer those psyops deep into the brains of people.
