This is going on for years now and I constantly fear them firing me. Somehow they never do tho. They started referring to me as the only employee with flexible work hours and sometimes even laugh about it when I arrive.
>haha user did you finally manage to get here?
With coming late to work I don't mean a few minutes. I come hours late. The worst I ever did was 6 fucking hours.
Why won't they fire me!? It's not like I want them to do it but I just don't understand it and it's freaking me out.
Don't worry about it. The work isn't important. What's important is that you drag yourself there every day.
Elijah Cooper
How does that make any sense? If I was my employer I'd have fired me years ago.
Nathaniel Price
You should be glad. If they really cared, they would have fired you long ago. I've had a coworker get heat for showing up an hour late and was told if he did it again he would be fired. Where do you work? It sounds like its laid back.
That's the thing, it usually isn't really laid back. You get insulted on a daily basis, have to work overtime everyday and other people have been fired for way more trivial things.
Christian Brooks
Are you at least doing your job well? Your performance must be justifying your late arrivals. If it's really bothering you, try and make an effort to get there earlier.
Just think about what your employer and his higher ups get out of you coming into work (other than the work being done obviously), regardless of whether you're on time or not, and it'll make more sense.
Ryan Kelly
Why do you even bother going in after 6 hours?
Also do you leave at the same time as the others?
Benjamin Scott
He's their emotional punching bag most likely since he mentioned being mistreated and insulted constantly.
Chase Roberts
you got comfy job m8, dont give shits and do as you please. also atleast in england its easier to just keep paying you for being a little shite/vs. employing someone else.
Andrew Carter
Well I'm most certainly not 'employee of the month' material.
But I do what I'm told to do, don't bitch about inconvenient things, work in my hours at the same day, come in on Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays if I'm asked to.
And somehow my boss seems to like me. He pretty much insults everyone including customers if they piss him off. Yet he calls me by a nickname and once talked about how to better myself and how girls would be all over me if I had more control over my own life.
That's the only 'redeeming' things I could think of.
David Hill
My employer doesn't have a higher up. He founded the company.
Nicholas Bell
Just because he has his own company, that doesn't mean he doesn't have higher ups.
Austin Johnson
Clearly he's afraid of firing you because you're the type who would shoot up the place.
Blake Garcia
Sounds like they just like you. Also if your lateness hasn't been reported to a higher up there's a chance that the higher up isn't even bothering to check. Sounds like you just have a comfy job. I use to have a job where I came in 30 minutes late everyday and would take extra long breaks without anyone noticing or caring because of the environment.
Joseph Kelly
Because I'd rather not be fired. No I work-in my hours on the same day. The day I came 6h late I was pretty much the only person left in the whole company at the end of the day.
Angel Davis
Honestly sounds pretty good. I'd just keep doing what your doing, but try not to take advantage of it too much. There are some things more valuable in an employee than punctuality.
Everyone gets the same 'mistreatment' so I doubt that.
Joseph Smith
At least in the company he doesn't have a higher up. His name is literally the company name and he's the only one with a office that could be a small apartment.
Lincoln Green
Oh it has been reported he even talked to me about it once.
Austin Ortiz
If you come in as often as you can for years and don't do any dumb shit, distract any other workers or complain you're considered an asset to the company. The work probably sucks a lot more than you realize and people keep leaving but you stay and that's why they don't fire you. You probably know a lot about the job and how to do it. You're an asset. I feel like you're one of those autistic quiet warehouse worker types, I used to be like that too.
Ethan Rivera
I'm not talking about at the company. Do you think everyone who owns a company just gets to do whatever they want and have absolutely no superiors?
Jonathan Anderson
>There are some things more valuable in an employee than punctuality
What would that be?
Dominic Fisher
Well it's metal work. Welding, drilling etc. It can be a pretty rough and dirty job. People actually leave a lot. Most newcomers don't stay longer than a month. I'm there for 9 years now.
Angel Jenkins
>But I do what I'm told to do, don't bitch about inconvenient things, work in my hours at the same day, come in on Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays if I'm asked to. You seem pretty reliable, and you'd be surprised how lost these qualities can be on some people. A lot of people are lazy and tend to complain too much. Also I agree with I'd try not to sweat over this too much. If you really were a problem employee, they would have done something about your lateness by now.
Are you late on purpose or because you have sleep issues? We had similar cases, they didn't fire them neiter but complained at them a lot and never got any raise.
Jaxson Morales
During a few depressed years I fucked up my sleep habits to the point where I just don't manage to go to bed before like 3am.
I have to get up at 6am. So 3h of sleep a day over a few years doesn't really help with not coming late.
Kevin Brown
Yup I called it. Obviously you shouldn't abuse this knowledge but if you wanted your answer there it is. I wouldn't test it by coming in late on purpose/not caring that you came in late.
Jason Phillips
I mean I guess you're right but I still don't want to simply accept me being the 'coming late guy'. I feel like if I'd stop caring about it things would only get worse.
Ayden Sullivan
So but it sounds like your work doesn't include you being there for others, but for getting a job done? So it's not than bad. And if it would be, your boss would've already told you mulitple times and not just jokingly. Those guy coming late at my company fuck up everyone depending on them to get ahead with their own work. I've done shiftwork for 8 years, so I'm used to change sleep patterns. But it took years to get there, so yeah idk if you are willing to do so much work even if your boss doesn't really hate you.
