if were gonna be alone forever at least we have each other and /comfy/ music and vidya to pass the time, it won't be that bad right?
If were gonna be alone forever at least we have each other and /comfy/ music and vidya to pass the time...
i don't enjoy music and video games anymore
The music I enjoy is music nobody else likes. I don't know what games I like, I can't seem to find any to enjoy. I don't really know what I enjoy outside of music actually, I don't have any hobbies. Mostly I sleep and wish to die.
people say that a lot around here, I hope that doesn't happen to me, I guess video games don't really have the same effect on me as they used to but I hope ill always enjoy music
>I don't really know what I enjoy outside of music actually, I don't have any hobbies. Mostly I sleep and wish to die.
that basically sums up most of my life, what kind of music do you like user?
it always take me 30 minutes to 1 hour to go to sleep and then i usually oversleep and feel like shit. sometimes i open overwatch and play for 5 minutes before getting bored.
>it always take me 30 minutes to 1 hour to go to sleep
isn't this normal? this always happeneds to me unless I stay up until like 6 am or something
It's not about enjoying it anymore for me, it's about being someplace other than reality

I like a variety, but mostly heavier stuff. I like things with melody and emotion, hard to describe. I find most music too repetitive or lacking interesting riffs, instead relying on similar style chugs.
What kind of music do you enjoy? Share, I wont bully.
With that I mean, what music you used to like.
You have somewhat similar taste to me in a broader sense.
Curious indeed. I don't really share tastes with anyone. I feel like when I post music here, I am easily identifiable.
I am very particular with my music. Symphonic metal can be a good avenue, but the problem is a lot insists on being contemporary pop. Epica, Within Temptation, Delain, a lot of the well known ones tend to be very mundane, focusing more on the vocals than on the music. Plus I don't really enjoy pop vocals, they tend to sound like a boisterous woman who wants to fight on the street.
Gothic metal is probably the avenue I go the most, but I can't really say I love the genre, as the popular stuff like Type O Negative is nothing like what I enjoy, that tends to be too druggy for me. Tears of Martyr had bad timings and vocalists.
And even when you get a good band, it pretty much is specific to the era. After Forever was great up to Invisible Circles, but then fell apart entirely as they went pop. Illdisposed nowadays is possibly the most generic metal band out there. Estatic Fear's first album was too choppy, the music didn't really flow as a unit. Lacrimosa has had a couple eras of being too repetitive. Circus of Fools was only good for that album.
I think you're right OP. I've got my morning coffee and cig, and I have you, so I'll be ok.
I listened to a few of those I couldn't really get into it like you said, I do like metal but I mostly listen to black metal or war metal or thrash sometimes. my music taste kinda sucks though, It just gets a bad wrap because of the whole "aesthetic" thing thats associated with vaporwave and future funk, heres my chart and some musics, no buli ok?

thats good to hear
I like your attitude pall. We're gonna be just fine, yes sir
Gave a listen to tears of martyr, just listened to the first song on YouTube though, and I understand what you mean with the timing, there's not much harmonisation in there.
The closest band that I listen to that I could compare the style to would be draconian. (although draconian does have more of a focus on growling.)
Listened to illdisposed live version of a child is missing and it sounds pretty good for a melodeath band, but that was from a 2008 album so I also listened to a couple songs from submit, reminded me of skinless a tiny bit for some reason.
Have you considered listening to things outside of metal, like just atmospheric music, flamenco or ironically listening to something really bad until you start enjoying it?
I don't bulli, I get bullied sadly. But I will say our music is very different, I am not really a fan of bass beats at all.
Yeah, it won't be too bad. *commits neck rope*
I often try music outside of my realm in the hopes of finding something to enjoy, I just don't really enjoy much outside of heavy stuff. Sorry, I meant Trail of Tears, not Tears of Martyr, which had a relatively decent album if still nothing I would praise too highly (in hindsight, I think I put them too high on my list).
I am not really a fan of instrumental works, there need to be vocals, and yet I ironically hate vocals that aren't either soprano or growling as a general rule. I do like baritone styles, German bands generally do better there.
If listening to terrible music would make me enjoy it, I would be loving this.

This is what people around me tend to listen to nonstop.
I sometimes don't fall asleep at all, sometimes it can last days, my record is 10 straight days. Apparently it's not even lethal until it's been months. Thankfully I have sedatives though
When I said really bad I really meant stuff that's really hard to get into, like shitcore.
If you like growling you could probably get into black metal couldn't you? That wouldn't be too far away from what you're used to I believe.
Although maybe you've already tried.
I have tried a lot of black metal. Advent Sorrow is black metal for example. The problem is that most tends to be less riff focused and more focused on just a sort of fast paced guitar style. I found Borknagar very boring for example. I also couldn't get into Marduk or Abyss. Tried several other bands that I cannot recall the names of, generally that is one of those genres I tend to look into for a bit when curious, but I just find it all so lacking outside of DSBM, which tends to just not flow well outside of Advent Sorrow.
Check The Gathering, they are very comfy and sometimes sad.
Tried The Gathering friendo, I don't really like it at all. Too contemporary vocals or too repetitive.
completely lost internet in vidya, i mostly just listen to music and just do fuck all
hope u lads are keeping /comfy/ lads, i am trying to do the same. Sat down and got SSL working on my imageboard, comfy.chat, finally after neglecting it for over a month now, should be gudd. Just gotta prep for d&d later tonight.

Have you tried the more melodic Black metal? Like black/folk metal, there's quite a lot of them that I like.
I can give some names, although you might have heard of most.
Moonsorrow is quite popular if you don't mind vocals that aren't in english, sankarihauta and sankarinatina are quite good.
Windir is probably one of my favorites, does a good job of mixing in keyboard in parts of his songs, like journey to the end and arntor, ein windir.
Thyrfing has a lot of good songs, two that I like is sweoland conqueror and valdr galga.
Agalloch is a pretty classic black/folk metal band, two songs would be the melancholy spirit, it's got a pretty awkward transaction in the middle though, the other is not unlike the waves, which is quite well known I believe.
If you're not really into the folk subgenre then I can recommend mgla, batushka, harakiri for the sky, woods of desolation, peste noire (spleen in particular).
And if you want a song with a really nice riff, Tormentor - Elizabeth Bathory
Shit I forgot one of the most important ones, Dissection.
Incredible music if you haven't tried listening to them.
