To make an amendment to this user's post: only go into electrician, plumbing, and maybe HVAC/welding. Every other trade job will work you like a serf. Expect 60+ hours, M-Sat a week for jack shit pay while being surrounded by functioning alcoholics, druggies, and ex cons. The other trades I listed pay you well and are generally filled with decently smart people. Plus, union jobs for those make ridiculous bank AND have bitching benefits.

Ok, let's assume you enter as tourist/visa waiver and overstay. You can't apply for a SSN (even for the ones saying only valid if approved by DHS), you can't get an i-9, i-94, you can't get a driver license, you can't get employed.

Find a company headquartered in the US
Company has to have a branch office where you live and US office has to be big enough
Get employed at the branch office for at least a year.
Suck local/US based office cocks and pray for an international transfer. You'll need experience + qualifications + a job role no easily replicable in the US office or a management role.
The company now can sponsor an L visa which will give you 3-7 years to live in the US as long as you remain working for the same company.

You can work under the table, I'm sure there are ways to get by and live fairly normally, you could find your way to a sanctuary state and be left alone for awhile. I don't know the specifics but there's a truckload of illegals living there, sometimes for decades. Your best bet would be finding your community and sticking with it. With current political climate I wouldn't be surprised if they end up giving you a long term visa or even citizenship.
