Assuming it's your first time I'd recommend a trip sitter but if you think you could handle it on your own then go for it, depending on the dosage.

Set/setting. Make sure your mind isn't fucked up before you go. Having somebody you trust wouldn't hurt, but I've had mind-bendingly terrifying trips with and without others. Also it may give you a new perspective, but in my experience that lasts for about a week tops before its back to business as usual.

jk, hope it's fun. Well, with DMT that's not the right word, but you know what I mean. I last smoked it in January after extracting it myself, and I don't know when or if I'll do it again. Sometimes I'll take a whiff of my machine. DMT is funky, smelling stuff lol.
My first trip was the only one that was worth it. Friends of mine offered me some (we were close, and they would give it to me for free), and told me I'd "feel so happy and euphoric it would be hard to bear." They were right. I don't remember much else other than laughing a lot and being out of breath from just how amazing and at peace with things I was. After a good acid trip, I always had the feeling that I had a brain, a heart, drew breath into my lungs, and had good intentions, so I deserved happiness just like anyone else does. Just super positive, empowering stuff. LSD was never a tremendously visual substance for me. I'd experience what are considered "classical" hallucinations (wooden floors turning a deep orange, grain swimming, etc). But it's incredibly, incredibly mental. The places it can take your mind are ineffable and can be (and were for me) utterly foreign and overwhelmingly oppressive and weirded. There was a story a few years back about some college kid having a bad trip and getting shot by cops, and I totally understand how things like that happen. Not trying to scare you off, but yeah. Just respect it. Just because it's not a "dangerous" drug doesn't mean it's wise to handle it lightly. That's the case with any psychedelic.

Out of drugs, i have no physical dependence but the mental is still there. Nicotine is completely ineffective at this point, and unfortunately nicotine has some crazy bullshit tolerance that will take months to reset. I really hope a blood clot formed in my arm and one day when i bend it it'll go to my lungs and smother me. I have posioned my body and mind irrevocably.

Phenergan or promethazine completely removes nausea from opiates and lets you nod pretty hard. I usually get nauseous when i abuse a particular opiate, and even more so when I IV it, but the promethazine (one 12.5 milligram pill) crushed and taken 20 to 30 minutes before on a mostly or completely empty stomach lets you relax and enjoy not only higher doses but also other drugs or food without nausea. It's an excellent pill to take before opiates.

I was on some psychedelics forums reading about tripping leading to improvements in mental disorders. I got frustrated because so many people were focused on psychosis and discouraged tripping for people with mental illnesses.
I agree that people with psychosis should not use psychedelics. I was just expecting to find posts from people with disorders and their experiences with drugs. I mostly saw people speculating on mental illnesses they don't have.
I have OCD and bipolar 2 and tripping with every drug has helped me accept my behavior and make informed decisions. I've gotten long term changes and permanent improvements.

I've always been an acid guy and just went through an MDMA phase for a couple of months, it has a few of the positives you get from psychedelics with heaps more negatives. In the end it becomes pointless self indulgence and takes a toll on your body, literally no reason ever to take it over acid unless someone gives you some for free or some shit.

It seems great at first but it leaves you empty in the end whereas acid leaves you more full. The counterculture scene lost all its potential for social progress and descended into mindless narcissism and hedonism when E took over from acid as the drug of choice, there's a good reason for that.

the trip is 80% not about the visuals but if you want to see more than just flowing distortions this is how it worked for me.
have a tolerance break from weed before you trip and make sure you take enough acid that you get continuous visual distortions even without weed.
after the come up you need to smoke weed until it becomes hard to focus and remember why you are even holding a packed bowl. then sit down comfortably.
I never really think about it but my eyes are always moving from one thing to another as I think. this happens more on acid. you need to keep your eyes fixed on one spot on the wall and keep your mind clear. I get deep distracting thoughts and kind of primal urges to look away that are palpable and uncomfortable. just recognize a thought instead of thinking about it and you won't lose focus. I have to resist my eyes darting around for a couple minutes and then out of nowhere it feels completely natural to keep staring and my peripheral vision explodes in hallucinations. also I get an amazing calm feeling free of random thoughts and any thoughts that drift by can just be recognized without demanding conscious attention. I got no cool hallucinations but a series of dots on cardboard looked like it was writing in an alien language and things like that. as soon as I looked it would vanish and my distractions would return.
