i spent the last two years in bed pretty much 24/7 for various reasons. now i want to sort my life out. unfortunately my muscles have atrophied in a serious way and i have trouble standing blah blah. i know i should see a doctor but i cant. wont go into details.

anyway ive bought drugs online in the past so i figured i could try steroids to sort out the muscle problems. it works for aids patients right? anyway i looked into it and theres a lot to learn so i was hoping someone here might have experience and advice

not interested in aesthetics. not interested in performance. purely need something to fix my atrophied muscles. no needles. what would you suggest i do?

Eat a lot of animal products and try to do some very light calisthenics. Steroids are unhealthy and you have to take them for the rest of your life once you start.

Steroids wont help you much, muscular atrophy of this type is largely neurological, your muscles are stimulated by your nerves , if the nerves are not used the stimulus weakens, leading to muscular atrophy

what you need to do is eat , and practice walking even if that means you need a cane or a walker to start with.flexing your muscles will help as well.

Physical therapist assistant here. This is good advice. Stay off steroids, they'll ultimately fuck you up worse than your lifestyle has fucked you already.
I would recommend a lower extremity routine to start building strength as well as endurance, but I'd like to know what your standing tolerance, standing and sitting balance, and gait tolerance are. Can you stand and for how long? When you sit on the edge of your bed, do you sway? Do you have to support yourself with one or both of your upper extremities? How is walking for you? What kind of support do you have in your home? Do you live alone? How many calories are you eating a day (Jaffa cakes LOL)? How well do you sleep?
There's too much to sort out that would require a physical evaluation to be really on target, but with some of this info, it'd be easier to guide you to a place to start.

This is what I'm going to recommend:
Give 12 of these on each leg a try each and see how you fare:
Sitting in a chair, perform alternating hip flexion (seated marching), full arc quads (leaving thighs against chair, kick your foot out with toes pointing upward), hip adduction squeezes (place a folded pillow between your knees and "squish" it with your legs by pushing them together),
If you don't get what you're supposed to do, search the exercise on youtube.
If sitting in a chair is dangerous due to poor sitting balance or you don't have a chair, you can do most of these exercises in supine (lying on your back), simply search YouTube.
There are lots of great rehab exercises out there. If you feel the seated and supine exercises are too low level, search "kitchen counter exercises" on YouTube, and give those a try at your counter with a chair behind you for safety.
Also work on things like static standing (stand with support and build up your endurance--time yourself!).
And try to eat more nutritious foods. Your body needs nutrients, and calories, to build new muscle tissue and to give you the energy to exercise.

look into supine quad sets, straight leg raises, heel slides, abduction slides, ankle pumps, glute sets, bridges, hamstring sets.

I just came off a broken hand surgery and a hip surgery, I spent almost 6 months in bed. I literally , once approved by the docs, walked to the end of my driveway and back. Then a few days later I’d go a few houses down. Eventually I could make it to the end of my street and back. Before I knew it I was back taking multiple mile walks and fishing etc. so maybe just start REALLY small and build from there it worked for me. Takes some patience but I enjoyed working through the challenge. I got to know muni neighbors really well as I walked by at a snails pace for a few months lol
